  • We lost our son to depression a year ago, an invisible sickness we knew nothing about & did not even know existed in our boy. It is because of this that YOLO by Renzo Suntay together with Mental Health Matters by Kylie Verzosa came up with the event “Remove the Mask, Break The Stigma” to create awareness & advocate to society for stigma to be removed because STIGMA KILLS! The shame & secrecy is what is killing people today!!!
Bong & I have 4 children left behind, they would all have to look back at their brother’s death one day and we do not want it to be just another tragedy gone wrong. We want them to look back & know that his passing sparked a movement, that it did something really big for people suffering the way he did. That even in death, their brother continues to make a difference in this world as much as he did when he was alive.
So a big shout out to the people who have symptoms that aren't visible to others, hide their illness from others, are able to function while in extreme pain, who fight a daily battle that others can't see. Kudos to all of you for staying alive! There’s a whole lot of us out here fighting this battle with you & for you! Now get up, keep fighting, keep breathing, keep living!!! You’re not alone 👊🏻👏🏻🙌🏻

Thank you for this video. Depression runs in our family. My maternal uncle and grandaunt both chose to end their lives. I almost did the same thing in 2006. Back then, I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder. I'm still struggling, but always making the conscious decision to choose life. One of the most difficult things I've ever had to deal with is being misunderstood by those who don't know what depression really is. Thank you so much for everything you do to spread awareness and to shed light on this hidden and often misunderstood illness.
