    I've got 2 pairs of ostrich boots. 1 pair are pre 1981 Enid Justin era Nocona ostrich legs. The other pair are early 2000s era Larry Mahan full quill ropers built in the same Nocona factory as my Enid's. Both pair look and wear like new even after several resoles and heel jobs. I use Bickmore products on them. They will go to my kids when I'm gone.

    It's noteworthy to mention, the "Cooling Factor" and that they' dissipate heat away from the inside for a comfortable & cool feel in the warmer weather. 👍

      Do all the leather variations (full quill, smooth, ..) have this cooling factor¿

      @@FishDR I've experienced Full quill to be the coolest on the inside, and smooth Ostrich, as well as Ostrich leg. I think all 3 types of Ostrich, have that comfortable cooling effect., especially in warmer temperatures/climates we see in the summer months. 👍

    they´re beautiful, stylish and very durable as long as you clean them up and condition them..... I own 9 pairs of full quill and to this day it is my favorite exotic skin. I always get compliments when I wear them,
    ( 2 pairs of Justin, 2 pairs of Lucchese and 5 pairs of Tony Lama , all full quill ), snip toe, medium round and my favorite J toe or ¨pointed toe¨, not a single pair of square toes - do not like them.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO! Whew - I'm feeling much better about a vintage pair of women's Stallion cowboy boots (full quill & smooth), red, white & blue (totally gorgeous). They definitely need to be softened & conditioned. I might take them to a professional for them to be cleaned and conditioned the first time, and then I might get brave enough to do it myself.

    Legacy hype was the rose anvil’s conclusion on ostrich (ie they use to be rare and it was a monopoly so people expected it to get expensive but times have changed). Evidence that he might be right is you can find them in multiple colors.. not the case for alligator or crocodile. Note I’m not clear that the rose anvil guy is a cowboy boot enthusiast like Jeremiah. Boot makers put up with its peccadilloes because they can get more $ for it. I prefer reptile leather, but I do have 1 ostrich boot. I would not pay a grand for a pair, but I did pay a 2x over cow hide for one so consumers (including me) will pay a premium even if they don’t think it looks as good as alligator or crocodile.

    There absolutely is conditioner that won't darken lighter colored ostrich. Medium brown and lighter use Saphir Delicate cream. Medium brown and darker use Saphir Reptan cream. Reptan is the best but has a tendency to darken lighter exotic skins, delicate cream will give you 90% of the conditioning power of the Reptan without darkening.

      @criticalthinking3709 Před 2 měsíci

      Yeah I’m calling bs on that as well. Elephant is bullet proof and Ostrich is thin and pliable. Also not all conditioners darken the leather either. I’ve used Nick 4 and Venetian cream and neither of them darkened my Tecova sand Goat boats which are really light.
