    OK, just finished the installation, and here are some tips Before you start:
    1- Before Installing the sliders and hooking it up to your house, consider running the unit to make sure it doesn’t rattle. Seems like a lot of feedback on this and other forums about these units rattling, maybe replace it before you completely unpack it if you get a rattler.
    2- as Others have mentioned, no need to apply the adhesive. I got a small bit of it on me, and I’m pretty sure that future me would find a time machine and travel back to punch me in the face if I had peeled the backing and applied did adhesive to the frame, I’m sure it would never come off hours of scraping. Simply apply the adhesive side to the sliders, or better yet remove only an occasional section of the paper backing and have that little segment apply to the slider. Because once you click the close the window it’s not going anywhere.
    3- Make peace with the fact this thing is going to be at least 10 inches away from the wall when finally installed, I was able to find a table that fit nicely above it to fill the gap and hide the ugly
    4 - don’t be a doofus like me and assume that the interior ventilation tube pulls out, it doesn’t except a little, it’s the entire outside ventilation tube that pulls out and connects to the window
    5- if not, too late, appreciate that when packaged, the straps are simply holding the box to the unit. Once the straps are cut, you can lift the box up and off the unit because the box arrives with no bottom. This is especially helpful if you’re like me and had to unpackage it in the parking lot to get it in a car, almost got a hernia trying to lift the unit out of a box only later out there was no bottom in the box
    6. - always keep it up right, if it was delivered, and you found it on its side, contact customer support to see how long you need to have it sitting vertically before you plug it in without doing damage

      Use the remote to activate the comfort sense feature. This will make it use the thermostat in the remote instead of the thermostat inside the unit. I’ve seen comments where other people had this type of issue and the thermostat inside the unit was getting cold way before the room was. The thermostat in the remote can be used up to 26 feet away, so put it somewhere the cold air won’t blow on it. Hope this works for you.

Headed to the hardware shop to buy a longer hose for the continous draining as they only provided a 2 ft hose 😂 we haven't even got the first AC unit set up and we bought 2. It's been 2 hours. We had to go grab this unit at SAM’s on Friday @ 4pm because we lost our central A/C in this 113 degree, hellacious, heat index, Florida heat wave! We rigged ours out our doggie door!! 🤪
      It is 10:07pm & our 3,000 plus square foot home is comfortable enough for us to sleep in.
      I doubt it will get us through 2 full days of this horrendous heat!
      I found it easy to set up. We also won’t need it except for emergencies once our A/C is fixed.
      I give it 5 stars.

    I installed it into a vertical sliding window withtout the window kit brace. The hose pulled out from the window in the middle of the night. After lots of staring at the illustrations in the manual I was able to install the window kit brace. It is absolutely vital to hold the weight of the large hose into the window. My installation was more difficult because of being on the second floor and having a left/right tall sliding window. As other reviewers have said, some things are missing from the video and User Manual. The manual says "MShield Used to starts and stops the Fresh feature." What does MShield mean, what is the Fresh feature? Luckily, from other reviewers I learned that the smooth side of Window Sliders Panels face the inside. Before permanently adhering the slider insulation foam to the sliders, trace the outline of the dual hose opening and cut the foam out. I could not figure out how to attach the Window Kit Brace so, as I saw in some reviewers CZcams videos, I didn't use it. Maybe my double pane window is too thin for the Brace to work? A clear photo or video of how the Brace is supposed to work would really help. There are at least 9 openings in the Sliding Window Adapter that flies and spiders, and winter cold, summer heat can come through. Each of the 8 plastic clips are wide open to the outside. All these leaks will need to be sealed up somehow. There was not enough Foam Seal C for my tall windows. Then there's the problem of how to prevent birds and other animals from nesting in the heat/cool hoses! Why in the world is there no grill or mesh over these huge openings?
    After a few frustrating hours the unit is now working very well. Fix everything tomorrow.

    • @MideaAmerica
      @MideaAmerica  Před 3 dny

      Hello @markuskragner5462, Thank you for your comment. The MShield feature is a specific air ionizer technology-this device releases negative ions into the air. The negative ions attach to tiny particles, like those in tobacco smoke. This gives the particles an electrical charge, causing them to clump together and land on surfaces like walls. Looks like the adhesive foam insulation sheet are attached to the outside of the windows slider, question is will it be able to last being outside taking the beating of weather? One more question, about the air exhaust adapter, it is recommended for hung windows. But after attached it to the hose, it doesn't look very air tight, not sure how it can increase performance, very against intuition. • @MideaAmerica
      @MideaAmerica  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Hi @VTidwell, Thank you for your question. The Midea Duo Portable Air Conditioner can be drained both manually and continuously. If you wish to drain the unit manually, you will need to open the drain cap in the lower part of the unit. This is where the water is collected into an internal drain tray and needs to be taken near a drain hole to be emptied. Once emptied, you should close the drain plug. Please note that both caps must be closed after using manual draining. If you would like to drain the unit continuously without having to empty the drain tray, you can connect a standard garden hose to the upper plug. The drain hose should be sent to the drain hole or sink to drain. In this case, you do not need to move the unit to drain it; however, the unit only uses gravity draining with continuous draining, so the hose must be lower than the unit. Have a great day!

    Hi! I just bought a unit, waiting for the oils to drain down to the compressor after shipping before setting up. My question is does the condensate pump work in all operating modes or only in heating mode? I'd like to run a semi permanent drain for the times we'd like to run dry mode, but a gravity fed bucket is kind of *not* what I'd like to do.

These include the humidity level, temperature, and frequency of use. Because of this, there is no set time frame for when the unit should be drained. Water collection in the unit largely depends on these varying external factors. If you have further questions or queries, please get in touch with us at digitalsupport@midea.com. Have a great day!

      Hello @billrilea, we're sorry that the draining process did not meet your expectations. If you prefer, you can continuously drain the unit by attaching a standard garden hose to the unit's upper plug and directing it outdoors, to a sink, or to a drain. If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to reach out to us at digitalsupport@midea.com. Enjoy your day!

    This is my first portable AC i have bought (i got the Midea 10,300 BTU (13,500 BTU ASHRAE) 115V Smart Portable Air Conditioner). WHile i love it to death as it makes my room cold, is there a way it doesnt turn off once it reaches its desired temp? Reason I ask is because I mainly use it at night to help me sleep better and the noise of it turning off and back on is loud enough to disturb my sleep. I dont have it set up to turn off automatically when it reaches its desired temp but I hope there is a work around that will keep it from turning off.

      @@jillianborzain6566..hi Jillian, yours was a really timely advice that seems to be hard to locate. A friend of mine purchased this unit andI purchased it a day later.
      I bought mine slightly used as the owner got central air, but my friend got brand new. While mine ran great, he has now exchanged two units, saying that his unit turns off and on without reaching the desired temperature. The previous owner of mine obviously figured it out, but my friend is going crazy.

    How can this unit NOT produce condensate during cooling mode? Living in the southeastern US, we typically get over a gallon of condensate per day. How can the small tray shown in the video hold enough fluid for the unit to run more than a couple hours? Please explain.

    • @MideaAmerica
      @MideaAmerica  Před 8 měsíci

      Thanks for your question! Cool mode does not typically produce condensate due to the pressure from the exhaust -- unless you live in a high-humidity environment. If that's the case, you will need to empty the drain tray once the unit displays a P1 code. This will have to be done manually, and once the tray is empty, you can resume operation.

    Hello, I was so excited to finally get a highly rated A/C unit that would not compromise my safety by hanging outside a window, and strong enough to cool each end of a tiny U shaped apartment. Unfortunately it cannot go where intended, and no other window is as safe from a possible break-in. I have had considerable trouble figuring out a solution with all constraints satisfied, and would not have purchased this model had I read a manual as carefully as I have had to while preparing what I expected to be a simple window installation...
    I would like to suggest you post/print the unit's requirements right up front, in clear, easy to understand terms; ie:
    1. The unit has flammable gas (specify type) and must be 10 feet from a gas appliance or any other open flame or hazardous flammable substance (not for an art studio using oil paint, probably not a garage work room either; both future uses dashed.)
    2. The unit may not be used in a laundry room, bathroom or any other very humid area. (Can't roll it to a bedroom window since the apartment strangely has a washer/dryer in it.)
    3. The electric cord is 4 feet off the right hand bottom back of the unit and must reach a dedicated wall outlet. Extension cords are forbidden (for good reason.) This is a big ask if living in an older apartment.
    4.The unit must have two open feet of floor space all around it or more helpfully stated, a five foot footprint (another big ask if in a 550 sq ft living space.)
    5. The window used must be a hung or slider window preferably with a screen. (or do-it-yourself improvisation that probably voids a warranty.)
    6. The window opening will be 10" which if kicked in could still let a determined criminal inside. (The advantage over having a more notorious 12" or 14" old-fashioned boxy window unit opening isn't quite as helpful as imagined.)
    Clearly, one of your other units might have been a more appropriate choice if all the above were known before spending two whole days (several weeks apart) studying the manual and watching videos.
    But... I AM looking forward to better relief during the hot July/August days and nights! (My little window A/C only cools a dozen feet or so, and only by 10 degrees. Not much help on consecutive days approaching 100 or more.)
    Yes, I am grateful, despite my suggestions! Cheers
