"Opera" magazine review of this production...."Maria Callas is the surprise of the evening. She sang a light soprano role with the utmost ease, making it extremely difficult to believe that she can be the perfect interpreter of both Turandot and Isolde".!!!!! That says it all really.
here, u don't hear bellini, u don't hear donizetti, u don't hear verdi...her phrasing for each of the bel canto giants was just so different but so accurate. the fleetness of the coloratura is astounding. Incroyable.
No one has sung Rossini with better legato!!! biting into words and perfectly enunciating them even at the trickiest juctions. It's unbelievable how her voice could pirouette on those sequential notes. That alone classifies her as the greatest Rossinian EVER.
Of course you are right. Her enunciation, color, and dynamic range have yet to be equaled by anyone. You're going to find one lone naysayer on every board. It means nothing. What Callas accomplished in her operatic life is tantamount to the unreachable star. We all should be so blessed to accomplish 5% in our chosen professions of what Callas accomplished in her profession. Her place in opera history is as secure as Mount Rushmore.
@thugmann30 You are the absolute first person I've ever heard of read that states such an opinion. That musicologists all over the world will disagree with you with vehemence is a given. Are you doing this just to push people's buttons? I wouldn't be a bit surprised. Oh well, have fun!
Incisione storica. Bravo ed elegante Calabrese magnifica Maria Callas. Un duetto meraviglioso.

Maria Callas forever La Divina for all the enernity
Come per Violetta, a tutt'oggi, dopo la Callas, non s'e' trovata una Fiorilla piacevole.

Quando si dice che la Callas è unica, un pianeta a sé senza confronti...
Meravigliosa
Mr. ioSonoCallas, You have got it RIGHT! In any language, it's all translated into the same - La Divina!
Lo mismo digo!!!! :)
Lo sé, y esta grabación es de mis favoritas^^
Hey doremicde I wasn't speaking to you but I agree with ur comments!
Why is the ending so similar to "Comer tacer", of La cambiale di matrimonio?
