I love Audi, in fact mine is A4 2011, but I thought it is a bit of a daft idea to keep the key in your pocket when getting into the car, since it will be very difficult to get it out of your freaking pocket when you are seated, yet someone in Audi managed to get such a not so useful idea in.
Idk I think you are just supposed to hold the key in your hand, do the gesture, then the car is unlocked. Enter the car, with keys in hand, and start the engine. You can keep it in your pocket and do the gesture, but youd be a cornball like the chick in this video.
i work on car lots as a interior repairman and i kinda laugh at these keys. most people find if something is heavy it oozes quality, well these audi keys are quite weighty, BUT if you take the silver key end off it weighs nothing. so i just found it funny how they play to a humans psychology.
They left out the most important piece of advice about your audi advanced key, and that is that it cost a rediculous $400 to replace. $300 for the key, plus $100 for the programming.

It may possible the unlock / locking door motors went out on you're vehicle. I own a 2009 Audi A4, and both my drivers side and rear passenger door do not unlock or lock via keyfob. To open drivers door without keyfob, just press the small button on back of keyfob to release the laser cut key and use that to both unlock and lock the door. As for thr cost of fixing both the locks on my doors at the Audi dealership? Its like over 1k, so I said screw that and just use this old fashioned method.

Jack Sparrow VW makes Audi so you will see a lot of similarities. It may, but I doubt that the Passat has keyless start. You still have to put the key in. In my mom's Audi Q7 the key stays in my pocket and I simply push the button. Now days even entry level compact cars like Chevy Cruze and Ford Focus can have push start so it's not an exclusive feature like it used to be.
I know VW makes audi, seat, škoda, they own 70% (or more) Lamborghini, ferrari, bugatti. ... maybe even more haha, but yeah the tehnogy it's amazing nowadays it's everything is posible

Having to spend a minute jiggling the keys around before they will turn every time you unlock or start your car sucks. Also, keyless ignitions are much much harder to hotwire or bypass by destroying the lock cylinder. Even as a big time car enthusiast, I must say that I don't really understand why turning the key would be so pleasurable. I understand lamenting the disappearance of the manual transmission, but a physical key? I'm more than happy to just keep the key in my pocket and push a button.

Man how complicated! BMW is so much more advanced. It had the push start stop system since 2001! All BMW models now a days don't have a slot to put the keys in. Just keep it in your pocket and GO. It is not an option unlike the Mercedes C Class. Come on. You have to pay extra for a push start stop system? No thanks bro.

Why would you want to get the key out of your pocket? You can keep the key in your pocket, to start the car just hit the Start/Stop button.
