This is a much needed teaching from Scripture that when heeded can help to significantly lower the stridency and clamor temperatures around us everywhere, it seems. Followers of the meek and lowly Jesus should not be a part of this problem but should be noted for our humility and truthfulness of speech even when falsely accused. Help us Holy Spirit.

A former pastor of ours used to say it this way: Before you relate anything you heard about anyone to another or before you confront the accused person ask these test questions:
Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?
It must meet all requirements before a kind, considered response is given. In every case the response should be redemptive.

    Season for unpacking🎉
Giving careful thoughts to the words we are about to say (composition)
Proverbs 4:23- "Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it.
    24 Keep your mouth free of perversity;
keep corrupt talk far from your lips"
Speaking life to others and to self (read words of life and beauty, you give what you have)
The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life, John 6:63 that I speak unto you, they are spirit-filled and they are life.📖
Practice speaking/singing with grace. Colossians 3:16
THINK before speaking putting Guard rails on the mouth. May Selfcontrol & Gentleness rock the lips
    T- is it true
    H- is it helpful
    I- is it inspired📖/inspiring
    N- is it necessary
    K- is it kind
Being careful with the little tongue, taming this church member not to bring the wall of Christ/temple down... James 3
Speaking truth in love, with love and for Great Love's sake.
It has never been easy. We have to trust the Sender and speak what He gives to us.
John, the Baptist (and an Elijah spoken about in Malachi 4:4-6) loved to help Herodias to get back to Philip/repent. Herodias chose to nurse a grudge against John.
After announcing a famine in the land, Elijah did not have a smooth time with Jezebel & Ahab
Nathan used a story to help his king, David. Could it be that David's heart was inclined to the fear of God!
Many times, Jesus' words upset teachers of the Law. He asked them in Gethsemane, why they came with swords and clubs as if He was a thief!
Paul spoke the things of God with confidence. Indeed meeting the Great Light can not leave us the same. The two men going to Emmaus, a woman at the well...after being with Jesus they run with joy to tell the good news.
Mark 1:35 if we spend some time in secret, the ruler on our thrones will be revealed in both speech and life🌱Being in the presence of God and obeying Him matters. Satan and Judas were always in the presence, so are we. Lord have mercy upon us. Please help us.
May we take time to be holy, speak often with the Lord. The Spirit of wisdom will rest upon us to speak wisdom and life (Jesus is Wisdom and Life)
Speak to each soul dear Jesus
    Speak now in tenderest voice
Whisper in loving kindness, dear gentle Savior
So that we can yield our whole lives to Thee.

To some degree I am going to have to disagree with the "tone" of the commentary on 4:26. While Dr McVay is certainly right on the fact that this is not a license for unbridled anger neither is it a sin to be angry. In fact there are things that should make a Christian angry. Much of the pure degradation of our culture, particularly the harming of the innocent should make us angry. Maybe it is unintentional on Dr. McVays part but, the tone of "should you become angry..." and that Paul is "banning anger..." seems to say anger is a sin. This is an error, for if anger were a sin then Jesus would have sinned and all would be lost. for reference check Mark 3:5, "Jesus looked around at them with anger and sorrow at their hardness of heart." So obviously we are not to sin in our anger. My example above gives plenty of opportunity for sin from arrogance, "I'm not like those.." to hatred for them. but Paul is not banning anger as I listed above. Now when we come to VS 31 Paul is say to put away anger within the body of believers... I am angry because someone wronged me somehow.

Do you think the tone of this verse is encouraging christians to be angry? It's strange that Paul would include a verse in the bible to tell us that it's ok to be angry. Here is his explanation in his book: " Does Paul command us to be angry? In Ephesians 4:26, Paul quotes Psalm 4:4-“Be angry, and do not sin”-a quotation often taken as an exhortation to righteous indignation with a meaning like this: “Go ahead and be angry. Just make sure you are angry for the right reasons.” The psalm, though, advocates careful thought, silence, and trust in God (Psalm 4:4, 5). And Paul will shortly ban anger and angry speech (Ephesians 4:31). This suggests that Paul’s command should be understood as a concessionary one that could be paraphrased, “Should you become angry, do not allow your anger to bear fruit in full-blown sin.” This view-that Paul is interested not in the exercise of anger but in limiting it-is confirmed by his further command, “Do not let the sun go down on your anger” (verse 26).

Dr McVay said, in the video that Paul is "banning anger" (his words) my point is he is not banning anger, he is banning sin when you are angry. I have looked in 18 different commentaries and I am pretty aligned to the points in the SDA commentary. In fact I could only find 1, Clarks, that indicated Paul was banning anger - the rest all align to the same thing in the SDA commentary. And again we Mark 3:5. People should be more conscious of not sinning while angry . I think Paul is saying there are things that are going to make a Christian angry. Just make sure you don't sin when you get angry. (That sums up the SDA commentary POV) The primary issue with a position of "Banning" is that then nothing should upset us, you want to abort a million babies?? go ahead I am not angry about that, want to march down the street chanting "we are coming for your children"? that is fine and in fact I will give you a "safe zone". Wickedness and rebellion makes God angry but he does not sin. It should make us angry but we should not sin. From an earlier time. Be angry at sin and nothing else.... In fact, as long as we are in Psalms, read Psalms 119:53-56 it is in that sense yes we should be angry.@@jmissole
