    It was actually foreshadowed the whole time even in the music. There were brief instances in his main theme that a humorous tune was heard in the very grim and ominous music. The theme then explodes into a bombastic, circus-esque theme that is eerie, disturbing and unnaturally threatening. Much like the deranged clown what Doom turns out to be.

    I love how much they subtly hinted at that twist throughout the movie. Little things like his really goofy penmanship and the fact that he gets so genuinely scared when Roger and Eddie knock over the vat of Dip in the bar and he scrambles to get away. It's so cool to see how many little things in the movie take in a different context on second and third and 90th viewing. I love this movie!

      Or how Judge Doom speaks and dresses like some 1890s baron in 1940s LA.
      If you're at a point in the film where you still believe Doom is human, this *could* be explained away by him being a snobby out of touch "Mr. Burns" type who doesn't keep up with modern times or feels he's above it all...Especially since he had the money to bribe for Toontown votes to get elected as the judge and buy stock in Cloverleaf etc...
      Except it's all revealed the persona is merely a TOON'S perception of a sophisticated, sane respected man and/or a toon overcompensating, and the only reason he was so loaded was from robbing the First National Bank of Toontown and murdered Teddy Valiant to get away.
      EDIT : And Doom's rigid body language and mannerisms. Like the way he hunches his shoulders and tilts forward when he's irate....The only other character in media I have seen do that is the Chuck Jones' Daffy Duck.

    • @dangerdanjerz1479
      @dangerdanjerz1479 Před 2 lety +7

      @@msannethropp7497 Oh for sure. He tries a little bit TOO hard to be normal and controlled in his mannerisms, with overly articulate speech patterns and very stilted movements.
      Then there's the fact that when he dips the shoe, he puts on big rubber gloves over the gloves he's already wearing and in spite of wearing two very thick layers of gloves still reacts very strongly to a joybuzzer.
      It really is a masterful performance, since so much of it can be explained away without a second thought. He's afraid of dip because (he's a toon so its lethal to him) it has nasty chemicals in it that everyone would be afraid of, he knows toons inside and out because (he is one) he presides over them and spends a lot of time around them, he speaks with extreme precision because (he's compensating for wearing false teeth) he's in love with his own authority.
      The list goes on and its just a testament to how really well done this movie is

      @@dangerdanjerz1479 Doom hates for the weasels to laugh (*because he gets triggered and reminded of what he's trying to run away from, and it threatens to publically out him "Have you forgetten what happened the last time?!??" as his voice cracks*) so they don't die before fulfilling all of the henchman duties.
      Doom wants to obliterate Toontown for a freeway (*because he is NOT your good toon or your toy or dancing slave like all the other toons. He's here to make YOU the miserable consumerist slave and corporate cog with no goody goody toons around to lift you up. Also convincing you humans that toons are a psychotic menace to society, then eradicate them only to secretly BE that true psychotic menace, to freely murder more humans who cannot defend themselves against what they believe is another human. That is the greatest troll of all time. No toon can resist being a troll*) because he's the typical greedy villain who craves world domination so even the money he has now is not enough. And he's a toon-hating meanie.
      Lloyd apparently read Judge Doom's introduction scene and already figured out that he was playing a toon mimicking a man before Zemeckis explained it to him, which is probably why he was so outstanding.

      People have apparently done some actual detective work and may have figured out Doom's identity: In Maroon's office there's a framed poster on the wall featuring a Toon named "Pistol Packin Possum." This poster is hanged up right next to a Roger Rabbit poster in such a way that the pistol the Possum is packing is aimed at Roger's head. This could just be a coincidence if not for the fact that during the scene when Doom murders Maroon, Eddie catches a glimpse of the reflection of Doom's pistol in this very same poster, and Doom's pistol is reflected in the poster's glass in such a way that it completely lines up with the Possum's pistol. Ergo, it's the exact same gun model. On top of all this, the Pistol Packin Possum also wears clothes strikingly similar to Doom's, have eyes of the same red colour as Doom's eyes, and his fur is of a yellow colour strikingly similar to the golden colour of Doom's hands when he pulls off his gloves.

    Listening to this music while watching the movie makes me realize Doom was one of the worst nightmares made into reality. A seemingly ruthless and cold hearted man who seems to be your typical card carrying human villain racist.....until he reveals his true Toon nature- an unnatural moving abomination that is neither real or fully traditionally animated....before revealing he's a red eyed Toon bigot of madness with enough of a live action presence that you could buy he could be anywhere or anyone because he was never revealed beyond his eyes and hand, both of which, change in shape and design.
    Doom is one of those hellish terrors that creeped out of the darkest recesses of the human mind.

      I believe Doom is an allegory of the Aids virus. I mean he was declining to insanity, and when his identity is revealed his eyes were like the red eyes of the disease, madness unraveled and when he melts away it was also to symbolized as the victim of the disease dying in a hospital bed, him saying "I'm melting" felt as if he was demanding to find his meds and after he said "Oh. No" he's dead and the last dead beet of the music sounded suspiciously like a flat-line.

      Christopher Scholl Judge Doom is actually an *extreme* allegory for self-hating minorities.
      Roger repeatedly says that a toon's purpose in life is to entertain people, and he loves getting laughs at his own expense.
      Doom not only longs to be taken seriously and viewed as a visionary, he *despises* the very concepts of laughter and comedy. He had no concern for the well-being of his henchmen (I'm sure he was going to erase them once they were no longer useful) It's that he became infuriated (and emotionally frayed) with getting confronted with reality : his "audience" of weasels laughing at him doing toon stuff. And since he was in a room full of *actual* human beings the first time, he was worried about getting outed. After he's "outed" later that's when he completely loses it.
      Despite being insane, Doom manages to have enough self-awareness to know that a toon's life has no value to mainstream human society *and even says that in so many words* during his Freeway monologue. A similiar observation is typically at the root of a minority's motive to hate their own kind or want to "pass".
      Speaking of "passing" you *are* correct that as the film goes on Judge Doom's facade of a "sane human" is progressively eroding. It's apparent during "Shave and a Haircut" (he moves his head to the beat of "Haircut" knocking at first, then is actually singing it right before Roger succumbs to it) and when he gets shot by Jessica in the alley.
      *Not only* because Doom wasn't remotely harmed by a bullet, but he lets out a high-pitched yelp when shot. And his "You'll Never Stop Me!" spiel sounded different than his usual 19th century stoicism. That cadence and delivery was pretty simplistic & almost childlike (how most toons speak), as was his whole "Remembuh Me, Eddie?..." thing.
      When everyone's at the Gag Factory, even though he's back to being reserved his "monologuing" & "Whiplashing" are things that *human* scoundrels generally don't have time for & don't indulge in.
      The film shows us that although he's putting forth a lot of effort and energy into passing for human, Doom cannot completely suppress what he naturally is.
      Before anyone gets offended with the "minority" comparison, I AM a minority. Just calling it how I see it.

      @bradyhartsfield9946 Před 6 lety

      Christopher Scholl What's more, not to be pedantic but : the issue with the AIDS analogy is that patients with AIDS ultimately die of whatever otherwise *common* ailment & infection that other people can fend off (they no longer can do so because they have no immune system)
      Your analogy sounds more like *cancer* not AIDS. Though self-hatred IS cancer to certain communities so...

    • @bradyhartsfield9946
      @bradyhartsfield9946 Před 6 lety +2

      Grimoire666 Potential extra layer of hellish terror :
      That leftover "rubber mask" of his would not have been in one piece after that Dip soak, because *acetone* by itself makes short work of rubber.
      In the original script, Doom's face is described as being cadaver-like. Maybe that's just it : the "mask" was really the flesh of one of Doom's human victims.
      Sweet Dreams 😈😈😈

      Eddie: Not really. That lame brain freeway idea could only have been cooked up by a toon.
      Eddie's thoughts: Good save. Hide your shock. Don't let him get to you. You're a cool headed detective.
      Doom: Not just any toon!
      Eddie thoughts: Why is he going to that balloon inflator? Why is he sucking in the air to inflate himself? Why did his hat blow off? Why did his eyes pop out? .....Are his eyes red?
      Doom: Remember me Eddie? When I killed your brother, I talked....Just LIKE THISSS!
      Eddie thoughts: You have every right to be scared.....shutting down now.

    Compared to THIS??? And Predator? And BTTF? And the Abyss? And Death Becomes Her? Nothing memorable or stirring or affecting about it. In fact, all the Avengers films suffer from a distinct lack of decent scoring. Look at what X-Men have done; First Class's Magneto theme is so utterly powerful and badass. Weirdly, that boring Hulk film was the only one that seemed to make the effort to put actual recognisable themes into its music.

    Which are both terrible, boring, samey scores with no memorable themes to speak of. Listening to this just cements my theory that the older composers get, the shittier their music becomes, probably due to complete lack of interest.
