ELVIS PRESLEY INTERVIEW HOUSTON, FEB 1970

  • The Houston Astrodome was chosen by Colonel Parker to be the first venue for Elvis to perform outside Las Vegas. This was done for several reasons, but none of them was because the place was suitable for a show of the kind Elvis held. 'The Dome' was an enormous hall, built in 1965, the least of its functions being for concerts. Parker was possibly unsure of Elvis' status in the wider world - performing in Las Vegas was something quite different from performing in venues which could seat far larger audiences. The rodeo show at 'The Dome' always attracted thousands of people no matter what. After the concluding show Elvis held a press conference for about 100 journalists at Astroworld.
He declared that he got a big thrill out of the appearance in 'The Dome'.
Elvis checked out of Astroworld wearing a blue Easy Rider-inspired suede jacket and black trousers, taking with him 20 suitcases and 3 guitars - $1.2 million richer than 3 days earlier.

I love how he treated the media and was sincere and simple in the answers. He did not think to much, or look bored, simply he just answers the truth like in a normal conversation. also loved how he treated the fans, who went to his house to see him. He had no obligation to meet anyone, especially if they are at the door of your privacy, but he would go to the fans and attend to them. He definitely knew what he meant to people and was grateful to them

He may have been kind but he was used. Elvis Presley was a sa* anist puppet. Rock &roll even gets his name from its idea - to rock and roll living stones (us) away from Christ's temple. Why do you think the most iconic rock band was called Rolling Stones. What goes with rock? Drinking, drugs, unrestrained sex, violence, 'do as you wilt'. Presley started generations of sat&anism and helped mess up probably billions of people. So he got a similarly ignominous end to the likes of king Herod.

Down to earth and calm as can be, but the coughing... dry mouth and itch in the back of his throat. Yet too polite to get up or ask for water. Or anything to drink. He was so private of an individual and protected that you can see he feels awkward in these situations. Funny how someone who gets in front of thousands of people and performs can feel like a caged animal in a press interview.

It sure was a different time back then. I was just 2 years old when this interview took place. You can see how respectful Elvis was to the older generation and how they all dressed up and carried themselves. I'd say it was better then. It seems like "seniors" have a lot less importance in our culture today and are more or less ignored. Its a shame really...

Yea no one seems to take notice that he always has his father with him especially for interviews!! That is most certainly who taught him how to act like a man and carry himself as one as well! I really do believe that is such a profound statement he is making, ironically with no words! Nowadays you have all these celebrities who not only show no respect for themselves even much less anyone else!! Particularly no respect for seniors which is very disheartening because they were young one too just like everyone else and that's where the wisdom is NOT with these children who are given wealth and fame with no moral compass and have now made it cool to be dumb!! It has now become cool and fashionable to act ignorant! Again, just very disheartening!

Carmel Ellis very true,I think the fact that Parker fan him into the ground all because of Parker's mounting debts as he was addicted to gambling.
Elvis did challenge Parker on in a few things but not enough and some people will defend Parker which is fine for them you know, we all not the same and we all have and should have our own opinions.
yeah he had things sorted to a T business wise but he was in it for himself and the money he made off Elvis.
