Perfect for classrooms and home study rooms. You'll look at it and laugh, and then remember what it says.
Hurricanes are massive storms that form over warm ocean waters. Depending on where you live, you might call them typhoons, or cyclones. Did you know these were three different names for the same kind of giant storm?
When we say giant storm, we mean GIANT storm-hurricanes can be hundreds of miles across. And they look a lot like a spiral galaxy! How else will you recognize hurricanes? They have an open spot in the middle called the EYE, and surrounding the eye is the EYE WALL. See also the spiral rain bands. And the hurricane twists in one direction in the Northern Hemisphere, and clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere.
In this video, you'll see examples of hurricanes and learn about how they work. Where on Earth are they found? What do we do to keep an eye on them? Whose job is that, anyway? (Meteorologists)
