This channel actually gives the right info about leopard geckos
That pic used to scare me so hard but I’ve seen it so many times that it doesn’t even look creepy anymore
I've had this leopard geko for 11 years. Previous owners rarely fed him. he has been eating like a champ for 8 years and loving life :)
My bearded dragon stared at the crickets hungrily.
thank you for existing
I just got a leopard gecko, and this video was very helpful! subbed!
Hey is your gecko doing good? I got a leopard gecko too, and I just saw the v-shaped "pre-anal holes." It's official. My gecko is a boy. Mine is looking pretty healthy, fat tail, bright colors, shedding enough, eating well.
@@vinxe1161 well some people know the amount but it's still good too do research even when u get it because you want the best and things change with the gecko so I'm sure she just wanted to make sure with other information
I like that you always clarify about the two different powders. When I first got my gecko I didn't find anything about the vitamin powder till I found your channel. Lucky I found this before I got her. She's chunkier and healthier than when I got her so thank you for your channel. It's helped so much
Your videos are very helpful! I'm really glad that I found your channel. I do not own a leopard gecko yet, but when I do I really want to be as prepared as possible and I'm learning a lot from your videos!
I would love to know how you edit your videos as they always look professional and very cool
It is now 2019 and I'm a new leapord gecko owner, I stumbled across the videos you mentioned at the end while doing my research, awful people!!
So thankful for your videos! I appreciate the time and effort you give to make us CZcamsrs better leo owners!
I'm soooo glad I found your channel. I've found so much information even more then I've found while googling
Me only getting a gecko in 4 months but still stalking this channel watching as much videos as I can hehe
This was very helpful.Thankyou so much!
I am so happy about this channel. I am hoping to get a leopard gecko for Christmas. My parents think I am responsible but what would I do with my Leo for college. I told them my dream college, canton college and they except pets. So I hope I get one for Christmas! Thank you so much! You really changed my life with these videos.
Thank you so much! I might be getting a leopard gecko, and this helps A TON!!! Thanks :)
P.S. I made sure to subscribe :D
I’m getting a leopard gecko in 12 days and I cannot wait! I’ve been watching your videos and I finally feel confident enough to be able to care for a gecko!! Love your vids💕
Thank you very much!! You really helped me, thease videos are more important than people think. Thank you!
When people ask refer them to this an other videos that you talk about feeding 👍👏your videos are so good I've been reading about my daughter's leaperd geckos and your videos are just as good as any book i have read thank you I've been sending your videos to my daughter so she becomes a wonderful owner of this beautiful animals.
One day I realized I hadn't fed my leopard gecko in 5 days it was really late at night and I was feeding him I think it was like 3 in the morning which I never do I never feed him that early in the morning but I just wanted him to eat and I wanted to go to bed because I felt really bad I hadn't fed him I usually feed him every 3 or 4 days he won't take any food any earlier than that but as I was feeding him I wasn't waiting the appropriate time that he likes to wait in between each worm and I was feeding him faster than I normally do and I actually almost killed my gecko all the worms started coming back up in his throat and he was choking to death I was able to pull some of the worms out with my longer tweezers and he was able to swallow the other ones but I'm not going to lie I panicked I started crying I thought I had killed my gecko but he is safe and I learned from that experience and I've never done that again he likes to wait about 30 seconds in between each I make sure that he Chomps down on the head of the worm and kills it before it goes into his stomach. I want to thank you so much for the videos that you make I have learned quite a bit from you and I appreciate you taking the time to educate people because I love my Ricky
Great video as usual. So glad I found your channel because I am now confident I know how to look after a leopard gecko, without being misinformed by pet shop staff or incorrect information online. It infuriates me that right now, leopard geckos are being cared for on a sand substrate with heat lamps, or not being fed any supplements, or like you mentioned in the video, being fed food that is way too big for them. :(
One quick question though, is it okay to put Eco earth straight on top of the heat mat inside my wooden vivarium, or should there be something inbetween?
Jemma Vine aww thank you :D yes its such a shame, sometimes it feels like its the individual leopard gecko owners vs the big corporate pet business. I just hope I can reach as many people as possible, before they put their geckos in bad conditions. Yeah you can put the eco earth on top, but dont make it too thick, as the heat wont be able to travel through.
Leopard Gecko It really is sad. I've been asked by my neighbours to look after their two leopard geckos while they go on holiday, and of course I said yes. I'll be going over to see them soon, I'm just praying that I don't go round there to find that they're on sand or have a lamp. It would be such a shame and I would hate to try and tell them that it's wrong, especially as I don't know them very well.
Anyway, thanks for the answer, I'm really looking forward to getting a leopard gecko!
oh i know how you feel, because a friend of mine got a gecko shortly after me, but he put it on calci sand, because the reptile shop told him too, and finally after lots of hints from me (because you dont want to be too blunt or rude), he changed it, but i didnt realise he chose wood chippings! :( sadly the gecko didnt last very long, and died shortly after. :/
Leopard Gecko Terrible. If only everyone knew how to look after them properly. So even reptile shops can suggest bad things... I haven't been able to find a local breeder but I have found a reptile shop, I'm visiting it this weekend to see if it's any good or not. From the website it looks great, but I'll soon find out for myself, as I guess some places only care about the money and not so much about the animal welfare.
yeah its good that you're going to check it out first. Fortunately diego was on reptile carpet when i bought him, and since i had owned leos for a while at that point, the lady in the shop didnt go through all the 'info' :')
I got a leopard gecko today!
You are my go-to channel for info and tips😂
I swear your videos are so good!
@LeopardGecko I have watched your vidoes for almost every question I had. I always found out the answer and more. Thank you.
Wait I just started watching your channel and I would like to know how often how much and what do you feed your crested gecko
You are literally a God send oml you made me so much more confident on how to feed my gecko
Im actually receiving a rehomed leopard gecko soon! From what I know he’s very sassy and a good eater and he’s so cute! So I love that everyone loves this channel
I put 10-13 mealworms in my gecko's food bowl and he usually eats almost all of them, so for me that's a good amount
I've found that half of the reptile videos on CZcams are ones of people being cruel when they feed their animals. It's a good mark for the hobby, and it just infuriates me. I'm not even the type to get too upset at live mouse feedings with snakes (still seems a bit irresponsible and meant to get a rise out of viewers, but some snakes just eat live....), but when people are feeding leopard geckos their own tails, then we have a problem. As for amounts of feedings, I feed my cave gecko on a similar regimen, though with a good deal less food. I just don't have as much heat on him and the species is smaller in general.
Marina McKinley yeah there was a video where someone housed their leo with an african fat tailed gecko, which shouldnt happen. And the leo was clearly stressed and had dropped its tail, so the person put the tail infront of it and tried to encourage it to eat it. it was disgusting :( there's also a video of a leo eating a live mouse, and as you said, some snakes so that, but i think with leos, a live, rather large mouse, is just ridiculous, and so so cruel, plus that puts the leo in danger too. Ahh i guess we cant change everything, but its a shame these kind of videos are still up online :(
Leopard Gecko I remember seeing these two idiots putting a knight anole (you know, the huge ones) with a bearded dragon. I don't know what they were doing, but they clearly wanted to see them fight each other which they did. It irritates me because if people posted videos of dogs doing this or of a person feeding a dog a live animal or part of its own body, then it would immediately be banned. No such case with reptiles, I guess...
Marina McKinley yeah :( what an idiot. Its frustrating youtube doesnt do too much in regards to animal abuse, especially when people post videos of their animals in unacceptable environments, and even promote these environments :/
I seen that video with the AFTG and LG, really upsetting. I even seen a video saying you can house them together, appalling!
FaZe RicHy Yes, leave a few in over night. just be sure to remove the uneaten ones in the morning. The gecko is up and about at night, so I feel safe leaving food with them. In the day when they sleep, I try to remove uneaten feeders. I keep species other than leos that must be fed in this way.
thank you for clearing these things up!! i can now make sure to take better care of my daughter
Thank you for all the tips and help. I'm going to get my first gecko in February and thank to you I know how to take care of him or her 😀
@Jade yes I think that would be fine :)
Would it be ok if you gave your gecko only gut loaded crickets or do you need the variety of crickets and meal worms?
I rescued two from a bad home and never owned em before so this helped a lot just a quick question tho do I put fruit in with meal worms before giving them to the geckos? And I've had them for two days and they haven't eaten a thing they are between 6-12 months and looks like a few tips of the claws on the male are missing they haven't been looked after at all well is the best thing for me to do take them to a pet shop and enquire about this or try and just make sure they are looked after from now on by myself they do seem happy and get about ok just abit concerned as you can imagine
Btw please do a video on how much and often you feed your gecko please :)
This video helped me a lot with my research on Leopard Geckos. I'm trying to get one myself:)
Awesome videos, helps alot ❤ I've learned so much from you ❤ so when I do finally get my leopard gecko it's gonna be very happy and very well taken care of 😁
5 crickets and 10 worms every 4 days
When I bought my geko nobody at petco never told me to give them vitamins
Petstores give terrible advice. You need vitamins unless you want your gecko to get metabolic bone disease
This was soooo helpful!!!! THANK YOU!
This is the one channel I turn to if I have questions about geckos.
wait when you said nymphs you meant dubia roaches right??
We got a leopard gecko yesterday how do you know how old it is make a video please for more information 😃
If it has stripes, it's a baby. They turn into spots as the gecko ages (this only applies to wild type Leos). Babies often scream/bite, and young geckos are more excited around food, less accurate when hunting, and get spooked more easily. Hope this helped!
Fiona Shepley Well,it actually depends on the morph because not all morphs have stripes
Very helpful and informative! Thank you!
This is so helpful! Especially for my future baby (or adult, I don’t know yet) leopard gecko
I feed my gecko 2 or 3 crickets a day and he's 3 years old
Jesus Rivera imagine deleting your comment saying i’m not funny. turns out you’re just an idiot.
This is the best channel undebatable
do neat Daniel. so proud of how much you know about your geico.
My geckos 2 years old and he will never come out of his hide and I want to see him more it defeats the purpose of having one what do I do?
Are you using a heat lamp or any type of light? That could be the issue as Leopard Geckos have sensitive eyes. What I usually do is keep my bedroom window shades open to let in natural light so they can distinguish night and day and it wont bother it because its not in direct sunlight aswell.
Think if you are a gecko you are prey - You would only come out for food or to poop, drink lick calcium etc. Hence why they do not come out that often.
They are nocturnal for one. Mine only come out when the sun has set. Sometimes early morning as well. Also they use heating pads to digest food and they will lay on it for the entire day.
i have no problems with cricket and mealworms but when i heard or see roaches i would say to myself NO!!!
Thank you so much. I'm new to Leopard Geckos and finding knowledgeable people hasn't been that easy. Spot ( my albino leopard) has been growing and active since we got her(?) But I've been feeding her once a week. Usually 20-25 crickets or 4-5 wax worms. Im an idiot and so glad I found your channel.
thank you so much! support your video!
Can a leopard gecko eat mealworms
yes if u have the right temp on your hot side then they will have no problem digesting them
yes, you can get them online or at local pet stores. you do need to dust them with the correct supplement for nutritional value, though.
But don’t u have to buy like 300 a month for a baby leopard gecko cuz they would eat like ten a day
My gecko eats ANYTHNIG!!! Once my gecko ate a ladybug
Are you intentionally feeding him some wild insects? That's not a good idea
My gecko once accidently ate a piece of vegetable and she seemed to like it idk lol
did you feed it to him on purpose? you shouldn't feed them wild bugs. it needs the correct supplements and you don't know what it could have been eating. that could seriously harm, or even kill, your gecko.
So glad I found you because I am planning to get a first leopard gecko is a few months and from a reputable breeder....
Many thanks for your wonderful and informative videos. I am soon to get my first ever Leopard Gecko ( At 53) andI can't wait. Like a kid at Christmas > :)
No offense to anyone, but how would you not know how often to feed them? You're supposed to research for a reason(so you can look after the gecko), so if you're asking that you'd kinda sound like you're not a responsible owner.
No offence but alot of people say different answers cause I did research for months and months and still am and they always say something different (or at least the stuff i watch is different) and she has been doing this a very long time and they want to know from someone with a lot of experience
Everybody says something different because evry gecko is different. Some like to eat once a wewk some like to eat a few times a week. Some eat 10 crickets per feeding others eat 5-8. And this could be apart of their research before they get their new gecko.
What the hell are you even talking about? This IS the research. This is STILL the information you search for on how to feed the cricket. Since you already know how to feed crickets, this video isn't for you then.
lucky ducky Yeah but the main things that they eat are the things that are written over and over again on each website.
Brianna Peffley I didn't say it wasn't research, but what they eat is so easy to figure out that you shouldn't have to ask someone to make a video on it.
Thanks a lot this helped out so much! :)
My 10yr old daughter and I have been researching leopard geckos for the last month and use your vids as a super guide!! :) We went to the Southaven, MS Repticon convention and purchased our first little baby. He was born July 13, 2017. I know we can't tell if it's a he or she, but we've decided to refer to him as a he and my daughter named him Gizmo. She said it's a good name for a boy or a girl. He's a Super Hypo Tangerine Carrot Tail Leopard Gecko! Wow! What a mouthful lol Gonna try to post a pic in this comment:
Going to be getting a gecko soon! I subbed and bell is on!

My 8year old gecko stopped taking food for 3 weeks, tried different kinds of foods (like grub pie) and wax worms helped get her appetite back. So they do work sometimes.
this was so helpfoll
When my geckos tail fell off it was so disturbing and sad but then when it regrew it was actually really pretty 😍
This helps alot
so cute leopard gecko
I feed my blizzard morph male, Casper, anywhere from 12-15 mealworms at a sitting, and it seems to work great. I've also started giving him 2-4 dubia nymphs now and again as a treat.
thanks for the info on pinky mice. ive seen that vid and ive seen the one the praying mantis and have read that you can feed them pinky mice and i thought about doing that but i dont think i will at all
Wow great minikraft tutoriel
Hi! Give Red Runners a try if you can get them. They are fast moving, softer bodied, and the adults are the perfect size for most Geckos! :D
Green Banana Roaches are equally great, but adults can fly and climb. Runners can do neither, but move quickly! Great for feeding response and they usually have an attractive smell to most insectivorous herps.
Thank you for this information because i have my gecko also it helps
I usually keep a supply of mealworms in a bowl for my Leo's 24/7, they won't eat them all at once sometimes it takes them 2-3 days. Most breeders do it this way with good success because it keeps your geckos weight good. It is 100% healthy and safe
Got my Leo 6 weeks ago, she's 42g and probably around 8 months old.
I had been feeding a combo of 2-3 BSF larva, 3-4 mealworms, and 3-4 Dubias each feeding daily.
I took her to her first vet appointment a week ago, she has pinworms and was prescribed 1 dose of medicine per week for 3 weeks.
The Vet gave her the first dose around noon.
I got her home, and let her sleep the day away.
She woke up earlier than normal, and was hungry right away.
I fed her the normal amount, and after we were done she waited a moment and went to her warm hide.
Then something new happened.
Less than a minute later she was up stalking her enclosure,
she made a lap around the place then went back to the warmth,
and a moment later up and hunting again.
So I offered her 2 more mealworms and 2 Dubias.
She ate, waited, and repeated the process.
So I fed 4 more bugs again...
And we repeated the process.
Well, it's been a week and her appetite is still ravenous...
I'm drawing the line at 20 appropriately sized insects, she hasn't regurgitated and still asks for more,
but her belly is visibly much larger with all those bugs in her and I don't want to push our luck.
I've also gotten conflicting info on feeding, anything from 5-8 insects, and 2 insects per inch of length from nose to base of the tail, and no more than 20 insects.
From my experience and understanding,
just like personalities, every Leo is different.
If they regurgitate remember the number and feed a few less, and if they poop out whole insects, the bugs were either too big, your temps are off, or they're sick.
My best advice, pay attention, feed 'em 'till they're full, and eventually you'll find a number that's right for you...
If you ever offer an insect and they turn their head away like an aristocrat, as funny as it may seem, they seriously don't want any of it.
thanks this will really help for the gecko im getting soon
I glanced at the thumbnail and i swear it was a gecko eating noodles...
David Tsang those are a huddle of meal worms
David Tsang exactly
Me 2😂😂
Those were meal worms dried up
