If you have more than 144" of floor space you can carry three pallets and if you are carrying pallets you will make more money if you can carry higher loads: the higher that back door opening the more money you can pull. With a truck like yours you could do freight expediting and have 3 simple pallets to carry for a good hunk of change. And the hurrier they are the more that change is
That's a great point about regular roof vans (GMC, Econoline, etc). I've wondered about that as well. You can get a used Econoline for $20k? A brand new Sprinter or Transit Hi roof costs closer to $60k? So the calculation is this: will the extra $40k you spend on the sprinter van result in significantly more loads and will the extra work pay for the additional $40k quickly? My gut tells me you're not making a mistake by buying the less expensive van with the regular roof.

Started DD and Uber Eats two yrs ago making ok to good money. For our area we have just about stretched ourselves to max income. Same time as you we got a new SUV (which is now paid off.) So we like to present a polished look to our delivery customers which makes them feel good. We also get some extra tips as a result. But lately I am wanting more and here you are big as day man. Appreciate your attitude, energy, and drive looking forward to adding way more apps. BTW, one thing I did a year into gigging was call my auto insurance and get the added insurance for gig driving. If you get into an accident while gigging and you have just regular insurance… you’re outta luck the insurance will not pay anything. Get it pay it it’s a deduction at tax time. I went new promaster I will say I'm extremely happy I still fit through drive thru with solar panels, the load floor is lower, the side door can fit a fork lift through it too, it's front wheel drive too was amazing in the snow last year, it was only $42k for 159 wheelbase, I personally don't mind the seating position feel more in control over the Mercedes when I test drove, and other small things that make sense in a cargo van. Seems like a better value in my opinion lol I should do a video for you to check out my van

The best thing dealing with these apps is the apps back office believes the customers. The customers can be lying and they believe the customers and do t investigate. This is one reason why you see all these apps being in the middle of a lawsuit up to class action
I use a Humvee I got for 11k and a M35a2 I got for 8k; good thing is both of them has under 33k miles, but the reason people get sprinters is because a lot of carrier companies restricts you from signing up unless you have a newer van or sprinter van

Check and make sure your area is active enough, in my area, it'll take a while for you to make your money back but I use my personal vehicles: Humvee & M35a2 to take loads, sign up for as much gig apps as possible and see if they're active in your area, if you have a SUV or truck, take gigs in those to dip your toes in the water with doing this type of work and determine if you want to get a van or not. If you get a van, start signing up with carrier companies because they pay the real money compared to gig apps but try to start off without commercial insurance and get commercial insurance when you actually start making a decent bit of cash from taking loads
