    Wow budgie World I am so happy you did another vid on the genetic I have possibly just one recessive pied budgie a male which is almost yellow has some dark green feathers on the back of the body near the tail and has like a mask on the face due to the only ondulation being present over the back of the eyes and just a little bit on the back of the neck. To the eye though it seems like a lutino at first sight because the yellow over him take the most part of the body, I would like to ask you more videos on the genetic your help is precious may you have a look at my channel Marco Paganelli? • @KKoKoRR
      @KKoKoRR Před 3 lety +1

      It can be more complex than punnet square sometimes. Because sometimes they have both recessive gen and their chicks 100% will have this appearence but unfortunately they don't want to mate each other. They choose other varieties, maybe they choose them by reflecting uv lights, I'm not sure.
      This is why some recessive varieties are extremly rare.

      I have e a recessive pied budge. I have had 8 buddies over my life. Pip my new one was the last of one left. He is so tiny and . I have always had good budge trained to fly to cage when commanded . Pip was just old enough to leave his mum. I have Big trouble now. He's had some upset sttlomg in as we saw him squeezing through the bars. We bought another cage . As we set it up P was interested and even stayed in it while we set it up. He will happily let us put hands in but in spite of all my experience
      PIP SHOWS NO INTREST IN TOYS he likes to sleep a lot and eat. IN spite of initially coming out to fly (resulting in banged heads etc) he now spends all day in his cage singing happily but show no other sign of interacting with us. We are with him at home all day the cage doors are always open but there is an in disable barrier. He has some blue and cream on his care. He love fleece perches and a basket. One final thing one toe on his left foot sticks up in the air and looks attated to the other toe. Today I thought I would try and cuddle him in warm hand and let him heart. Stood it for 30 secs the began to bite REALLY chewing my finger. I took him back to the cage in my open hands and he stooge on them inside the cage.
      I am sorry for the long question but I have never been at such a loss. Pamela UK🇬🇧😁

    • @joydavis9264
      @joydavis9264 Před 3 lety +1

      @@nivedjoshy2509 I have questions about this too w/ SF dominant pied.
      Sorry this is long, but I want to make sure I explain everything and it is understood. My little budgies have markings that are very characteristic of the single-factor dominant pied mutation from what I understand. They have the little clear white patch on the nape of their neck but it doesn't extend any down through their mask or into the chest area like double-factor dominant pieds. They have a definitive and distinct separation between the mask and the chest where the blue body color begins. However, they do then have what would be a little clear white band around their belly except that their bands are broken and splotchy. They have the clear flight feathers as well as the clear second row of feathers on their wings with the rest that are black and not splotchy like recessive pieds.
      So by markings alone I would say they were single-factor dominant pied. However they do have dark eyes like recessive pied. I don't know exactly how old they are but they are at least around a year. We have had them for nine months and they were at least a couple months old probably when we got them. I couldn't tell the age because from what I understand the pied mutations don't allow for the bars all the way up to the cere even when they are babies. So ours have always had the white forehead. But certainly they should have developed the light gray/white ring iris by this age if they were going to. I can see a bit of an iris but it is very dark and from a distance their eyes still look like baby eyes.
      So what I'm wondering is, is it possible for them to have both mutations and for it to appear that way? I know some people sit there and talk about dominant pied and recessive pied as if they are the same mutation and so they say, well yours have to be recessive pied because they have the dark eyes, and people act as if the dominant pied would cover up that characteristic of the recessive pied, as if that would mean they have one dominant and one recessive gene, but from what I understand that's not how it works. If you're comparing dominant pied and recessive pied, it's like comparing apples and oranges because they are two completely different mutations.
      From what I understand, in the area of the dominant pied mutation you can either have two normal genes, one dominant pied and one normal gene, or two dominant pied genes. Then at the same time in the area of the recessive pied mutation, it's the same--you can have 2 normal genes, one normal gene and one recessive pied gene, or two recessive pied genes. So in other words, you can only look at normal genes with mutated genes, not two separate mutations together.
      So from what I understand, you could have in one area a single-factor dominant pied mutation and in another area have the recessive pied mutation with two recessive pied genes--just like you can have a clearflight pied mutation combined with a recessive pied mutation, which creates the dark-eyed clear variety. So I'm wondering if that could be why mine have markings that look clearly like the single-factor dominant pied mutation and yet have dark eyes--they have both mutations? Does anyone (who really understands about combined mutations--not someone guessing from what they think they know from studying the Internet like I am) know what those combined mutations would look like?
      I've only been studying this stuff for a couple days. I wasn't there when the birds were purchased at PetSmart and they don't have any leg bands and the only info I was given about these birds is that they didn't know their sex and that they were "still pretty young," so I don't know if they were two months old or four to five months old or just under a year old. ??? I just know we've had them since mid-December 2019, so just guessing they are around a year or older.
      So I don't even know what sex they are. I've been trying to watch for the tan/brown cere to appear to see if they are females and sometimes I think that they look just slightly tan but I'm not sure. Then when I really stare at it it still looks kind of pinky-purple but very light. But I don't know if they are both male and the mutation(s) is not allowing their ceres to turn deep blue (which would again be a recessive pied feature even though their markings look distinctly like single-factor dominant pieds) or if they are both females and their ceres HAVE indeed lightly turned tan at times but I just wasn't certain.
      Or if the bigger one is male and the smaller one is female, which is kind of how we have referred to them because "he" has always always acted more outgoing, bobbed his head obsessively and regurgitated to feed "her," and has even at times looked like "he" has been trying to mate with "her" though "she" runs away. I know behavior isn't a good indicator, but "he" has grabbed "her" with his foot and even looked like he was jumping up in the air flapping his wings trying to get on top of "her."
      However at times "she" seems like "she's" coming out of her shell and singing more and I wondered if "she" was a boy and that's why "she" thwarted his advances and was like, "Dude, I'm not your girlfriend. I'm your bud!" Hahaha. But then again, lately "his" (the one that behaves definitively like a male) cere has looked more tan than hers ever has, again, until I stare at it enough and think, no it just looks pinky-purple. But still I think, what if they were both females all along? Or, what if they were both males all along? But we still kind of always refer to them as him and her.

    • @nivedjoshy2509
      @nivedjoshy2509 Před 3 lety

      @@joydavis9264 I'd like to see their pictures clearly, maybe i can help identifying the gender of both.
      Maybe it can happen, combination of both recessive and dominant pied in a bird. Because I have a couple of birds with clearly black baby eyes even though they are adults. I also have 2 odd eye birds ( 1 eye with iris & other dont have an iris) 1st is a sf dominant and 2nd is df dominant pieds, I think they both along with the other bird with black eyes are split for recessive pieds.
      What I mentioned above is all about dominant pieds. But there is an another green bird with normal patter with black baby eyes , small yellow spot at back of neck but not large as in dominant pied , he also has tail with both yellow and blue, im sure he is not a pied .
      Because all of my birds are cousins and relatives I cannot interbreed them to check, I can only confirm they are split for recessive pied by only crossing them with a pure recessive pied which I dont have.

    I have a pied budgie. Very unique coloration! He has grey, white, bluish, greenish, and yellow on him. And his cere is blue. So these pieds can have blue ceres if male. My first pied budgie also had the blue cere. I’ve found the males to be much more self entertaining, vocal, and outgoing than the females. But, that could just be my own observation. Do you find that the pieds have shorter life spans than the standard breeds? My vet said with the cockatiels there are. Wasn’t sure if the same issue is with the budgies
