    Hi Cliff! That was a great 3 day excursion on the Suwannee River. I'll have to come south and do it some time, perhaps next winter. Again, I'm happy to see you encouraging paddlers to help keep our waterways clean by removing garbage. I've been doing exactly that for many years. Thanks for sharing! 🛶

      Tyler - Thank You for your kind comments! Enjoy your trip, you will have a blast. I am trying to plan a trip down there in October, so I can pick up where I ended my last trip. I would like to continue the trip further down the Suwanee! It’s a magical place!

    I have done from Fargo to highway 340 at Rock Spring Bluff. It is about six miles below the confluence of the Sante Fe. I have also paddled the Santa Fe and the Ichneetucknee. I have also enjoyed the Current in Missouri and the Buffalo in Arkansas. My favorite is the Hiwassee River in Tennessee. Above highway 411 near Reliance Tennessee.

    After watching your videos my wife and I are considering this river on our next excursion.
    Regarding your question about music, I don't like people playing music on the water. I recommend those who like to listen music to use headphones or earbuds. I like to keep nature sounding like nature.

    Paddled the river for 1 day in June 2021. Great expereince, want to do the overnight camping next time!! I LOVE this river and all of the ones flowing out of and around the springs.
    Please let the dufus who said the spring was 55 degrees know, it's 70 degrees just like ALL of the other springs in Florida...it's that way year round.

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  Před 2 lety

      Lol. I don’t think I would call whoever you are referring to a dufus. In their defense, when you jump in these springs on a hot Summer day, they feel like they are 55 degrees! 🥶. But, I know they are always 72 degrees, that’s why the manatees love them, it helps them survive the Winters, when the gulf and bays drop below 70 degrees. Take care!

    If you’re ever in N. Arkansas the Buffalo National River is place to go, it was the first river designated as a national river. 2022 is the 50th. anniversary. Also the Mulberry river is a great river to and is close to the Buffalo too!!

    I've only done day trips on the Suwanee several times years ago, renting from the Music Park where they would provide shuttle upstream and we'd paddle down. Always loved it...the sand beaches, clear water, and cool limestone formations. I have my own kayak now and a friend is putting together a kayaking camping trip there this winter, so I've been looking at videos to see if it's something I want to do. Even if I don't do the camping (just not my thing), your video reminds me of this river's beauty, and I definitely need to get out there for a day trip again soon!

    Doing the Suwanee Oct 25-30, 2020 kayak or Paddle Board not sure yet. Last trip 1963 from Fargo to the Florida Sheriffs Boys Ranch with the Boy Scouts, 9 days in canoes. Give me your opinion on where to put in and take out for five day camping trip. Thought I would start out back at Fargo but maybe I should start out at White Springs. May be solo can't find anyone who wants to do this.

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  Před 4 lety +1

      Hello Don, honestly I have only ever done the Suwannee River trip once. And it was starting at White Springs. My intention is to do it many more times over the years and launch at different locations each time. I would eventually like to explore the whole river. I hear north of White Springs it’s a lot more rugged & untamed, is this true?

    You have inspired my wife and me to take this same trip in April 2021! How many hours each leg did it take you? We love your videos, keep them coming! BTW, what brand of gloves were you wearing?

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  Před 4 lety +1

      Thank you so much for the kind comments! The longest day was the second day, 18 miles. We got up and we’re on the water by eight and we paddled till about 7 o’clock. Now, the water level was down low during our trip though. If the water levels are up, you will make the trip faster. My gloves are made by NRS. they worked well for me. I like wearing the gloves, because it keeps the blisters down and they are more comfortable. Also keeps the sun off my hands. My plans are to get back there and do more of the river. Glad to hear you’re going to do it in 2021, have fun!

    Loved the video. Just a few questions:
    1st - Were mosquitos or black flyes an issue?
    2nd - Is the water from the springs potable?
    Thanks.

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  Před 4 lety

      During my trip in October, mosquitoes were mild to medium in the evening. I would think if you were able to dive down into the spring and collect water coming directly out of it, that is, not had a chance to mix with river water, it might be potable. You do it at your own risk though…. I was thinking the same thing as well. I think next time I might try to dive down and get some right out of the spring, then run it through one of my water filters, just to be safe!
