nope, they would love to join but their constituition does not permit it.
I don´t see a possibility of a consensus joining nato in austria. Although there are certain politicians who would like that, the majority of citizens are opposed to giving up neutrality. I am too. Very much so. Even if our neutrality is hollow at this point in time (eu-member and certain obligations to other eu-countries) people still think highly of beeing non-alligned. And I hope this will remain that way for the years to come. Every poll shows that the austrian citizens don´t want that (for now).

Russian Forces hit a a rare target - a makeshift air defense system with AIM-132 air-to-air missiles mounted on a Supacat truck
This is the first example of the destruction of this weapon, the UK supplied several vehicles to Ukraine last summer.

Not really. Its just temporary measure. Useful for very specific current situation. Its used only on old disposable tanks.
Hmm, I dunno. I'm thinking that 50% of a tanks required skill-set is to BE a shielded turtle. It is already in a turtle shell consisting of several passive/active protective layers, but then we got 'cope cages', and now it have almost evolved into a new shell on top of the old one.
So 'shelling up' defensively in layers, seem to be a main feature of any tank in the future and should therefor be predicted, I think..

Prime examples are their tanks that are like matroshka dolls of defensive layer upon defensive layer. Their defensive lines along the whole border of ukraine are the same. All their air defense systems, their nuclear triad, their perimeter or dead hand system. Good luck trying to penetrate all that. Sure, the ukrainians can get lucky sometimes and sink a fishing boat, but to defeat Russia is out of the question. NATO has no chance at all.
@@cotizacionesequipo1719 Its really interesting situation with those sea drones. They are hard to detect with anti sub equipment and are hard to detect with radar systems due to waves. No real counter currently. But Russia has rather minor fleet. It should be really interesting to look when Houthi get those :)

Ukraine decided to desband yet another Brigade
The 1st Special Forces Brigade named after Ivan Bohun. The reason for this change has not been publicly announced, but it may be related to the decision to disband one of its battalions several weeks ago. As we wrote earlier , on February 6, 2024, the command disbanded the 518th special forces battalion “Wild Field” and arrested the battalion commander.
This significant, given that the 1st Special Forces Brigade has its own tank and artillery units. It is expected that the brigade's heavy equipment will be transferred to other combat units.
This follows the 9th Army Corps disbanded

It is a political and not a military decision. When the order comes, Ukraine will fall in a few weeks.

Bear in mind (no pun intended) that smoke is the biggest killer in most fires. Depending on which way the wind blows it will force withdrawals on either side. Once fires have burned out vegetation it's harder to hide or take cover, which in this Age of Drones creates difficulties for both attacker and defender.
If the Russians were willing to invest they could well make a small autonomous titanium tracked robot (like the terminator but smaller... not the one from the movies but one similar to the one they already deploy in urban combat) that could enter such a forest and send to kingdom come whatever it finds there.

Austria can't join NATO, that was a condition imposed upon it long ago as part of the WWII peace process.

Confirmed in 1955 as I recall. USSR made a push after the death of Stalin to create a neutral demilitarised central Europe including Germany as well as Austria. NATO however was aggressive in forcing through West German re-armament (VERY unpopular in Britain at the time), with support from ex-Nazis in positions of power, ... roads of peace not taken...

Austria not joining NATO. Austria doesn't have to. In 2014 I saw videos on YT how NATO transported hundreds or thousands of tanks on trains through Austria eastwards. Yes, 10 years ago, before Crimea became Russian territory again. So NATO was preparing a big war on Russia already and Austria supported NATO. So Austira and NATO have been working together against Russia for a long time. There is no need to formalize the alliance. Why should Adolf Hitler's homeland do that?

Yep ... there is no need to have a few hundred thousand Russian personnel on the Northern border. They are only there to Pin and Attrite. Pin them along the whole Northern border to keep them at the border to stop any fresh personnel to move to the main frontline, and to attrite the equipment that Ukraine still has on the border.
Meanwhile I wonder why there is a build up of Russian personnel near Kherson? Is it just to repel the Ukrainian personnel from getting a foothold on the Eastern bank of the Dniper? I don't think so. Is Odessa in focus? Maybe.

Which missile is better? US cutting edge ATACMS, UK Storm or the unnamed Houthi missiles? Ignore the Russian and Chinese missiles which are of different levels.
ATACMS is rather bad. Its bigger, flies higher and way easier to detect and intercept than basic HIMARS missiles. Stormshadow was useful at the start until its profile was inserted into new software update for anti air system. Now it rarely hits its target.

Russian forces have launched a barrage of long-range precision weapons at Ukrainian targets, the Defense Ministry confirmed in its daily briefing on Wednesday.

The Russian side said some of its targets were military factories rather than parts of the Ukrainian power sector. Get your history straight. Ukraine threw out their corrupted Russian puppet president when he did not keep his promise to have closer ties with EU. Then Russia invaded Crimea and started unrest in Donbas. Since then it has been several elections in Ukraine. The Ukrainian people has shown that they prefer the free west over the corrupted mafia state Russia. Russia go home
