Full coverage of the round of 32 bout in the men's bantam (56kg) boxing event between The USA's Joseph Diaz and Ukraine's Pavlo Ishchenko at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Boxing made its Olympic debut at the 1904 Games in St Louis, since then boxing has been staged at each edition of the Games, except in 1912 in Stockholm, owing to Swedish law, which forbade the practice.
The rules have evolved since the 1980s: 1984 in Los Angeles: protective helmet obligatory; 1992 in Barcelona: set-up of an electronic scoring system to strengthen the objectivity of refereeing; 2007: standardised point scoring. Women's boxing will make its debut at the 2012 London Games in London.

That was a very good match. Diaz did demonstrate more skill in his boxing, and the judges agreed. While the US team had some good members, the rest of the world had boxers that were phenomenal. I am from the US, but I like good boxing, no matter were the boxer comes from.
boxing may not be the most popular olympic sport anymore, but it has has the best entrances
Grate Job with the win stay strong in the mix
Diaz is currently the IBF Super Feather champ
outstanding match!
from FRESNO? im from that area! awesome!
Samson4G he’s from El Monte , idk why they said Fresno , lmmmaoooo
Dat hair doe>>>
no words bro, only punchs
their form of blocking and striking is better than most professional boxers whom mostly all have their hands down while blocking
The american is now IBF champion of the world. You predicted this
It's no wonder the Americans have been slacking medal wise, the judges just don't score half of their shots. Diaz would not look at all out of place in a professional ring from how he's boxing in this. Very nice movement, lots of defensive subtleties and effective body shots, but the stand up European style does seem to win the favour of the judges. The Ukrainian didn't look bad himself mind
Amateur Boxing is a lot different from Pro Boxing
Паша молодец, жаль, что сейчас выступает не за Украину...
Why no comments?
USA needa be faster on his feet
Ukraine
Is that teens fighting? They look so small and the USA is baby hitting him, put mayweather out their! 😩
