5 yr. old Bailey Dickson wants to donate her hair to Wigs for Kids to help others dealing with hair loss due to cancer treatment like her 8 yr. old friend Jillian Butte.

It is wonderful what this little girl wanted to do for her friend. Unfortunately the people she donated her hair to sold it to a wig maker who does NOT give wigs to kids with cancer. It would have been better for her to have auctioned the hair and given the money to her friend to buy a wig.

My aunt, two female cousins, mother and sister all died of cancer. None of them got any free wigs. None of my clients ever got a free wig. None were offered free wigs. None of my oncologists or oncology staff members ever heard of anyone ever getting a free wig. None of the clinics or treatment centers or cancer research hospitals ever heard of any patient getting a free wig. Not one staff member ( spoke to most at one point or other) at the Dana Farber cancer center in Boston (they specialize in children with cancer) have ever heard of any of the thousands of their patients ever getting a free wig. Finally, I have on hundreds of occasions challenged anyone to prove a single child with cancer ever got a free wig from any of the various entities who routinely request and accept donations of hair for wigs and to date, since 2006 (when I first volunteered) not a single person has met my challenge. I contacted every organization that I could find that accepted hair donations and not one admitted they actually donated wigs. Several told me they offer discounts to adult non terminal female patients with alopecia. None ever offered any to either terminal or underage patients and none ever gave away a free wig. So my challenge stands unanswered. Sources? YOUNG LADY, I AM THE SOURCE!

this will be impossible but I think that I will cut my hair when it gets long I will be so sad but at the same time happy that I made little girls happy and I will be a role model for my kids and whole family

I thought that too at first but I’ve come to learn that the system for donating just doesn’t work that way. Lol I wish I had a better explanation but I don’t. And it doesn’t matter much now because unfortunately she passed away in 2015.
I used to have very long hair that touched all the way to my butt when I was seven years old I didn't like my hair that long so my mom cut it to the length of my shoulders instead of throwing it to the trash I should have donate my hair.
