Giving music to other species is a nice gift. I play guitar on my porch and the birds come by and sit on the fence and watch. I generally play the same tune to call them over and sometimes I'll hum, too. This is a such a nice video, thanks for upldg!
When I was a kid living by the sea I would go walking on the rocks near the dock...Then someday out of nowhere an Orca swam right passed me... I stopped and the Orca came back and bobbed it's head out of the water like to look at me. It came closer and began doing sounds and splashing water. As a kid instead of being fascinated I got scared and ran home. I always wondered what would have happened if I would have stayed there. I've been fascinated by Orca's since that encounter
you're lucky, I wouldn't have run away. when I was a small child I was very interested in animals, I watched the Nat Geo Wild channel many times and often caught lizards and big spiders and snakes. I've already thought about the fact that if I had been born in Florida, I would have caught smaller alligators and pythons instead of lizards. :D I was lucky enough to hold a python in the animal garden, and it even blew its whistle, which made my classmates go crazy. if they saw an orca, I would come back later to take a picture :D I'm Hungarian 🇭🇺
How beautiful, they seemed to be singing back as he was playing his harmonica. A lucky man to have such encounters in his life. Stunningly intelligent animals
This is one of the coolest interactions I have ever seen between a human and an animal of any kind.. He's a very lucky man.. Beautiful, just truly beautiful.
LOVE! I sang to a couple orcas once while in a kayak. That probably would've hurt other humans ears, lol, but they hung around me for a while. I was listening to my ipod and singing along out loud. I kept giggling every time they squeaked and splashed by me. Side note: Roberto is a very handsome man. *smirk
This man, who loves nature, came to them with positivity. They could sensate it.And harmonica SOUND sealed the deal, I mean the friendship. BEAUTIFUL. Thank you for sharing and bless you all.
My theory is that through the generations, from encounters with sailors, fishermen, then commercial fishermen, and other boats, Orcas put two and two together and they recognize humans as Feeders- that is they don't harm humans because they know we feed them, even if inadvertently from all the fish our fishing boats, chum lines, and fishing lines and bait attract.. They are group-family oriented so they view humans as a friend who helps them to find food. They are probably also aware we are vicious hunters (fishermen) too, just like them. This commonality helps humans to build rapport and respect from them, a necessary component of a relationship or friendship. This knowledge has been passed down through their generations. They probably notify the calves that humans are fun to play with and are for play and fishing help. I also speculate that they view themselves as "aquatically superior" to humans, which they are, so they enjoy putting on a show for us because they know we are fascinated with them. it's a form of playing, they perform for us because they know we are entertained.
There's a video of someone out on a paddle board in the ocean and they see an orca and get in and swim with it. It'd be so awesome. Even if it did kill me I would have died happy.
Absolutely beautiful! I surf Sunset Cliffs, San Diego. But at the point and about 7 years ago a friend and I were paddling back to the boat when he yells "look behind you" and right next to me was an Orca. He made it in the boat I slowly paddled with it to my 16ft boat got in and it keept turning and peeking at us. I've been a surfer 34yrs. Best experience ever. I never felt like I was in danger like with bigger seals or sharks. It was an amazingly calm experience.
Wow, that interaction should be shown in every school in the world to let children know that yes we all can get along! Maybe to world leaders as well! Can you even imagine the feeling he felt those first few moments in the water when the first physical acknowledgement became surreal!
Harmonica communication with them is a GREAT IDEA!! I've used a short PVC pipe to make sounds into while the pipe tip is under water....and called Orcas from a distance while sailing that way. I used to live on Orcas Island in western Washington State. I've also called dolphins into shore while snorkling in Hawaii!!! The Orcas seem to be super telepathic also.....like smaller dolphins!!! D
I have surfed with orcas in New Zealand several times. A humbling experience and they were just as curious of me as I was of them.....never threatening.
Es de admirar el entendimiento de los animales, ante la presencia humana, no así del humano, ante un ser de otra especie. Interesantes expresiones Massino Primiero. Gracias Guillermo Schulmeier por compartir esta maravilla.
I have watched this several times over the years - and this is what I call real friendship - one expecting nothing from the other - just companionship. Can't get any better than that ! Too bad the human animal isn't the same way - wouldn't this world be a better place !
Thank you for this beautiful video. I love the Orcas As a child I had some sort of phobia of orcas. Not sure why. Maybe because as achild my dad took me to movies and I watched this horrific movie about the killer Whales that kill humans. Sort of like JAWS but it was an orcainstead of a shark. I could'nt even see them in a magazine, I had to look away. Finally I was able to Sea World at 40 years of age. I watched the shows but wasn't able to close or even watch them through the glass. Now I'm obsessed and can't get enough. They are the most beautiful amazing creatures. I will never, ever return to Sea World again. These creature don't need to be trapped in a tiny swimming pool for human greed. It's cruel and heartless.
This is the way forward for ALL living things WE are being taught by the Animals the way we should be living! No tree hugging vegan here either, I just opened my eyes and ears and heart!
we surf every day with a smaller specie of this kind of dolphins here in the patagonia (in playa union, a few km from that beach), and they are so curious that they surf waves with us.... they are so curious about us as we are about them, i can tell it. is so beautiful and funny
Beautiful creatures. I hope there here until the end with us and we can show alot more responsibility and respect to the sea they live in. From New Zealand
I think one reason why Orcas pretty much never attack humans is because at one point a member of a pod has probably gotten tangled in nets or beached itself too badly to get back to the sea and humans rescued it. Changing the attitude of one orca towards humans would probably spread amongst them.
you might actually be right! a female calf from this pod accidentally stranded herself back in the days and researchers helped her get back to her family, and some people believe that is the reason these orcas are so nice to humans!
it is a good explanation my friend, but i don t thing it is the truth!because there are millions of orcas around the world, thousands of pods that speak different dialogues ,and also they are thousands of dolphins also ,but none of them attack humans ,but they are trying to protect us!are in all pods of dolphins or orcas one of them be saved by humans? i dont thing so!and what if a human attack a orca ,like the fisherman who throw dynamite at them if they trying to steal the tuna fish ?why they dont hate us then and trying to kill us?no, i believe that the dolphins (orcas) have a special bond with us from the ancient times( the ancient greeks have tales about dolphins saving sealers )and i thing that the real reason is still a mystery!!!wonderful animals!
young Jazmin got stuck on a coral bed or something similar, and while her pod panicked, humans got her back into the water. since then, the whales have been seen approaching kayaks and beaching themselves when humans walk past.
Then can you explain why they're cool with humans taking their children away from them? Have you ever seen a video of a mother orca whale losing her calf. It's heartbreaking
when one of the orcas was young (Jazmin, i think) she got stuck on a sand bar. humans got her back into the water, and the orcas have approached people ever since.
Beautiful to see wild orcas like this. SeaWorld once let visitors play with recent captives. They were not only friendly, they solicited friendship and not for food. They preferred people who didn't feed them, but the orcas sometimes brought fish to people they were trying to befriend. Trust, like the man in the video shows, was what they really wanted. If you would let them mouth a hand or arm, they would invite you to come swim. They always let go before actually pulling you into the water, if you politely refused. Once you became good friends, they would beach themselves in a shallow area for rubdowns. A number of incidents with these orcas left me believing their intelligence is comparable to human, just different. Two of them are now dead and two have been captives for over 30 years.

Agree
No or jackass crew will go there and try to show their balls to them or have Steve O dress like a seal or something stupid for cameras.
This is incredible! Poetic in a sense...perhaps he was an orca in another life
His sprit animal ❤
I'm in tears. Simply beautiful.
This is the best thing I’ve seen in so long

Take note sea world trainers! A pure bond "they need nothing from me, I need nothin from them. a very pure affection bond " beautiful 😊
this guy could make a fortune catching them
Ayy but he has a soul
So do Orcas looks like.
Kim Wilson They all say that until couple months down the line trainer has been killed. They're wild. Expect the unexpected.
Its an excellent recipe for human relationships too.
That guy is now invincible in that body of water! No animal would dare to try anything, with his Orca friends around!
This is ABSOLUTELY beautiful!!!

maritia yes a dream for the Orca's, there in there own natural habitat it's wonderful to see.
Agreed
If a shark eats us were trespassers. If we pet a dolphin were guests. Make up your mind.
But he seems to be quite lonely there.
Eres un hombre muy afortunado tener unos amigos de esos que lindo

The Orcas communicate by sounds, Therefore hearing the harmonica is a good way of becoming a Friend. 👍
