    Had a leak coming ftom the front bottom area. Did some research ordered a water pump, installed it, still leaking. Tilted my machine back and saw a steady drip coming from the drain hose. Ordered a hose, watched your video no more leaks. New hose and pump, hopefully I'll get several more years out of this old thing.

    Very, very, very, very informative. I have a horrible leak coming from underneath my (used) Kenmore washing machine and have been tempted to just run to the used appliance store and purchase a new one. I think I can tackle this repair without any assistance thanks to your video. Wish me luck.

    Thanks to your excellent video I was able to replace the hose in our Kenmore washer. The hose was leaking at the bottom plastic support tab. I used a plastic bag and an oil drain pan to catch the water.

    Like the garbage bag method to catch the water! However I just thought of a potential improvement on that technique. Maybe try wrapping the open end of the bag around the hose and pump in such a way so that when you slowly disconnect one from the other that the water spills *into* the bag? I'm going to that modified technique a shot and see what happens.
    Thanks for the video!

    Determining the source of the leak is the most frustrating part. I know the drain hose is not the culprit, nor are my waterlines. This leaves either the internal hose, pump, or tub seal as the likeliest culprit, but accessing them is a bear. Why don't they design these units with easy to remove side panels so you can spot the leak while the washer is running and make the necessary repair without stripping it down?

    • @Merzui-kg8ds
      @Merzui-kg8ds Před měsícem

      Same reason why they intentionally make terrible plastic parts...so you will go buy a new washer.

    • @Paladin1873
      @Paladin1873 Před měsícem

      @@Merzui-kg8ds And so I did. I gave my old washer to a ranching friend who keeps it in his garage on a concrete slab where he can ignore the leak, repair it if it ever gets bad enough, or use the machine as a target.

    Our drain hose is under the machine. How will it come off?

    • @DIYwithMichaelBorders
      @DIYwithMichaelBorders  Před 2 lety +2

      Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. What kind of clamps are securing hose to fitting?
      If clamp does not have a screw on it to loosen, you may need a pair of pliers to compress tension & simultaneously slide clamp down hose to allow you to carefully pull off hose.

    My leak was coming from the top of the drain pipe. Should I put some Drano in the pipe?

    • @DIYwithMichaelBorders
      @DIYwithMichaelBorders  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. Drano may not be the best option...we haven’t tried that before.
      We recommend shifting the machine tubing out of your drain pipe and trying to get any and all blockage removed. We have had some viewers mention they use clothes hangers to clear out blockage from pipe. Please keep us posted, us DIY’ers need to stick together.

      My pipe is attached with a zip lock thing to the cold/hot water faucet. I can cut it off-but do I need to reattach for some reason? If so need to buy a zip thing before I proceed, I guess.

    • @DIYwithMichaelBorders
      @DIYwithMichaelBorders  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. By chance is the leaking coming from behind the washer where the two water hoses/lines connect to the washer?
      If so, you may need to replace the inner rubber seals that are located inside the connection points.
