Honestly, Anyone can clear Ultimates. It's just a matter of finding a group willing to spend the time learning the fights/mechanics. And eventually it all falls in place. Some may take more time then others. But anyone can do it. And Asmon is doing great. Especially as a new player.

It's not the cutscenes that would stop him from doing an ultimate before EW, it's his determination to do everything else along the way, and at min iL. The story itself isn't as long as its made out to be.
yeah and he has pretty good pace when he's doing msq progression. he did 2.1/2.2 yesterday, 2.3/2.4 today. but yeah he spent a LOT of time doing side content. which is fine, of course, but it limits the amount of time he has available if he wants to achieve his ultimate goal in his desired timeframe.
I got to level 80 in about a month and a half, I started doing all the extreme stuff up until heavensward where I found it was hard to get groups then gave up and just leveled. So i'm fairly confident he can get to level 80 gear up and do an ultimate in time.

Honestly one thing i can think above others that may cause time issues is if he plans on doing savage Alex min ilvl. Like you said I don't doubt he can learn the fights but I can only imagine the time it'll take. Maybe I'm overestimating the fights as I personally only got into savage in Stormblood and went back to do them later but at the time they felt like a huge jump in difficulty.
I think that people really underestimates the time Asmon has to complete ffxiv. Endwalker is out in November, giving the guy 3 months + some loose 20ish days. Roughly 110 days. Assuming that he goes straight, he probably needs to clear around 440 hours of content, that's 4 hours per day. Remember the guy already has some very experienced players willing to do bosses and raids with him, making it easier to complete fights than with the randoms, you probably play with as a normal sprout.
Xeno called out the salt and toxicity of the community spot on. People are getting SO triggered now that Rich, Asmon, and other WoW refugee streamers are starting to clear high-end/harder content.
I've been picking this game up myself, I have 2 tank classes at the trial cap now and i'm working on getting a DPS up too before I activate my account. Instant sub, I can tell already that this channel is gonna be fantastic for figuring out high level tanking
You really can't go wrong listening to this man. He comes off abrasive sometimes and there's a lot of people who apparently don't like him for telling people the cold, hard truth.. but you'll be hard-pressed to find a more knowledgeable tank who is willing to help you get better if you're willing to put in the effort.

@Danny's Archived Gaming doesn't matter even if true. Knowing how to maximize DPS on command means that that is another powerful tool in his toolkit. Maybe he doesn't need to use it all the time but sometimes it can make the difference if he pulls it out when it's needed (that 0.1% wipe wouldn't have happened). Not only that, he'd be asking knowledgeable, technical questions on abilities and rotations to someone who clearly understands the better than he does, and he's going to learn a thousands times more than just watching a static tutorial. Plus it's content. There's a lot of sprouts in his stream that would love to watch a masterclass on an aspect of the game.

Gorgeous elder Asmon with great music tastes!? Instant sub. I recently started FF14 after years of thinking it was just another MMO with a bit of FF flavour. I've never liked MMOs for a multitude of reason, primarily the combat. This one immediately gripped me, and I instantly liked the combat. 2021 has been absolute shit for me, so I couldn't have run into this game and it's amazing community at a better time.
@@XenosysVex I'm very excited for the raids, myself. I've always loved challenging superbosses, and FF is one of the best series for that. Watching Asmon's raid vods shows me that this game delivers exactly what I want, too. King Moggle Mog is straight up perfect. I'm a slow pseudo-completionist type player whose power-gaming is going out of the way to make games harder from start to finish, even if it means savescumming for hours to manipulate such an outcome. For example, I'm dumping all quest EXP into an alt class so my main is never above the absolute minimum. Dumb, I know, but shredding through quests that are 4 levels above me when I'm already gimping myself is easily the worst part of the game, imo. I also watch cutscenes, so I'll probably just be starting Heavensward by the time Endwalker drops.
Asmon is definitely not getting carried, you can tell hes a really good player to do what he does and be a good streamer that pays attention to chat. But his other 7 are way better than any other 7 I've ever had, lol. Summit and Annie have had much more "normal" experiences.
Bro, his whole party is made out of raiders that do Ultimate. He's not bad by any means but he's still getting carried hard through fights. He doesnt have to know or remember every single mechanic in the fight.

@Jay Bee it's easier on tanks now compaired to then. Back when tanks had to stance dance and dps to avoid dps from pulling a bosses aggro while having to keep up good dmg for dps checks. It's not even comparable to how it was compaired to now. Tanks are so watered down and unga bunga now with little to no responsibility aside from move boss here during X mechanics.

Yeah Asmon isn't getting carried as he does his tank job fine but I think most ppl are saying "carried" because of how the fights are progged with 7 players who are super experienced vs going in with 7 other new players, some ppl watching summit's stream were saying Asmon got carried because summit goes in with judd a new tank and only a few experienced players at first so prog takes alot longer and because of this he gets more time to figure out more of the mechanics instead of Asmon clearing the fights fast where he doesn't get to learn them as much which isn't really his fault as tank mechanics in ARR are easy and he just has a better group.
Asmon randomizes his parties besides dom , he only kept same coils group because it wouldn’t be fair to just prog a few fights then ditch em. & most of summits wipes that I’ve seen were due to Judd, he couldn’t even keep track of stacks to tank swap or just stood in AoEs
@@Irovetti He only started to randomise his groups like that starting with Mog ex and Shiva ex which all are pretty easy when compared to coil T5-13. He literally asked twitch chat if he should go in with more with random players who haven't cleared before as he wants to make his stream more entertaining because some ppl were saying carried since coils were cleared super fast due to having 7/8 experienced players. Watching summit clearing those fights was more enjoyable overall as he spent more time figuring out the mechanics instead of some fights being over in 30mins with Asmon. If he attempts to do any savages/ultimates I just hope at least most of the group haven't cleared before as this is a better experience and more entertaining to watch or better yet hope he goes in with summit would be amazing to see them both clear together.
@@Zellos101 No he didn't. He's randomized all his groups even coils, but he kept the same coil group throughout all of them because he thought it wouldn't be fair to ditch them after progging. He's invited some members from his previous groups like dom, or sea lion sure but that's about it. You can literally go watch his vods if you want
@@Irovetti I watched his streams live, it was same group T1-5 and same group T6-13 (apart from 1 player who didn't turn up) that's not randomised that's how statics work. Also he changed Mog ex and Shiva ex to "duty incomplete" this wasn't done with coils.

Depends I think he can get the clear as a tank if he gets 7 experience people with the fight who have cleared together. If he goes fresh and everyone is new, hes going to have a harder time.

I’ve recently been leveling all tanks together (all currently at 56, have not unlocked gunbreaker yet) and I’m liking warrior the best which coming into it I thought I would prefer paladin or dark knight. Obviously I need reserve final judgement for when I have them all leveled but that’s where I’m at so far. Loving warrior class!
Found your content yesterday due to Asmon himself and I might say I missed a FFXIV content creator who uses "fuck" as ponctuation and don't care about being polite all the time ROFL xD subscribed. I have the same read about Asmon as you, his prior MMO experience helps him and you can see his brain melting when he don't understand a mechanic, trying to figure it out. And I agree, he's way better than most people who are fresh

He killed his megaflare partner during adds phase on every pull in t13. He forgot to grab Bennus on half the pulls in t12. If you did final coil when it was relevant, you’d understand how much Dom carried him on the final phase of t12 doing all of the brand passes for him. His clears count and he’s clearly better than like 50% of players already but if you think he’s doing ‘literally all the mechanics’ you should look up all the mechanics to appreciate how few he’s doing.
@@d40warrior he's also not using any guides and learning the mechanics on the fly, often getting piecemeal but incomplete advice from either chat or his raid members. which is great if he wants to do it that way, but it absolutely means he's going to miss stuff.
@@twocows360 Very true. He is also still super new to the game still sub level 60. He has time to learn as the content gets harder and more is asked of him. Like you said he is also going in blind and part of that I think is for entertainment and getting surprised by the content like with Bahamut. If he was doing serious prog for speed he would prep before hand and be a lot more crisp (which he probably will for the ultimate and maybe savage if he decides doing *all* of them like he said he wants to takes too long).

I'm a tank main from day 1 on ff14 and Dom is hyper carrying him because the older fights are not nearly as unforgiving on dps checks and reliance on healer lb3 to clear. As he gets to newer raids and has more personal responsibility put on him things will start to change. Also people fail to see just how much having 5-7 vet players on the higher end of gameplay 80%+ makes a difference in clearing older content. Jobs ability powers are way stronger than back in 2.0-3.0 because of skills consolidation/rebalancing making his prog be appt faster due to shear brute Force unga bunga by the rest of his groups.
The shit that happened with Scottzone made me super sad cuz I really liked his content. Like I don't do much of the harder content but in all the stuff I see if you aren't pulling your weight everyone dies.
@8:41 I'll say the same thing here that I said in one of Asmon's coil videos: Asmon cleared the coils easily enough because of the combination of his experience as an mmo player, the team of which he brought that generally knew the mechanics, and the much MUCH more streamlined and beefier toolkit/sub-stats that we have at all levels now compared to what we had back in 2.0, and the proof is in the content. For example, even at minimum ilvl, when Asmon's group made their way through Twintania, he barely had to do anything to deal with Death Sentence. He didn't need a shield to survive it, he barely even needed Rampart for it (which Warrior didn't even have back in 2.0), and he didn't need to tank swap for the infirmary, which an inexperienced team would've had to do if they went in at minimum ilvl back in the day. Honestly, I think the real challenge will start to present itself whenever he reaches Alexander Savage. THAT'S what I'm looking forward to the most.
So many people that doesn't do harder content in this game thinks it's some insanely difficult shit that only the 1% can do. Take newly released extremes for example, people blind clear those with randoms in party finder day 1 in like an hour, it's a joke. If you are dedicated and are willing to invest time into the game learning mechanics and improve, you can easily clear a savage tier week 1 or 2 in just party finder. Ultimates are the same thing, the only thing hard about ultimates is the 7 other people. If everyone else in your party is playing perfectly and making no mistakes, it's extremely fast for an individual to learn and pick up mechanics and clear. I will not be surprised at all if it takes Asmon less than a week to clear UCOB.
This is an interesting take for me. I've always kind of been a gatekeeper for myself in regards to clearing harder content, mainly because my work keeps me very busy and I just don't have a lot of time that I can invest. Not to mention my work schedule is unpredictable making it hard for me to set specific times where I would be able to raid with a static group. So I have this double-edged "I only have a limited amount of time to work with and I have no idea when that time will be" issue that really makes it hard for me to make any commitments. It'd be interesting if I could find a group to do some harder stuff eventually, though. I've wanted to clear UWU for the PLD sword and shield glamour for a long time.
Most people that clear week 1/2 look at what the better world first groups did to make most of their progress. I'd bet money if it wasn't for raid guides for Savage most pugs would clear Savage period. Even with pug strats they still mess them up regardless of how braindead they are. Imagine pugging with groups without guides. You'd get nowhere... Without good players leading the way most casual/bad ones wouldn't bungle their way through it to begin with.
He's gonna get there in time before the expansion is out. He's got time. he probably have 2 months to spare before the expansion is out after finishing all msq and some extra content.
Going by the number of quests when you start Heavensward he's 34% through the main story. ARR quests: 244 HW quests: 138 SB quests: 162 ShB quests: 157 Total quests: 701 He did 244 quests in 32 days. At the current pace it would take him 91 days to complete Shadowbringers. He could theoretically finish the main story by October if he keeps his current pace. That would leave him a month to prog an ultimate before the release of Endwalker.
Hmm. Damn that's really interesting. I hope he can stay on pace and get there in time. iirc though, there are more and longer cutscenes in sb and shb? Could be wrong but if that's the case then the number of quests doesn't matter too much because the time it will take will be longer
Asmon is already way ahead of most players in terms of the basics and being able to identify mechanics, he's gonna be a beast of a tank by the time he finishes Shadowbringers.

Well you can’t really carry ultimate since many mechanics if you fuck up you kill the party. If he clear it then big GG to do do it even if it’s in 6 months. Of course it’s easier if you find a party with 7 peoples who clear it already. But it doesn’t mean you can just walk in and clear with them.
Asmon isn’t being carried. I’ve seen my share of tanks in FFXIV. He’s got skill. Rough around the edges, of course since Asmon has just started. He even admits that he wants to get better. There are plenty of great tanks in the game. But people have to understand, those great ranks have been playing the game for years. They’ve had time to refine and perfect their skills.
im waiting for him to unlock DRK and go "why cant i equip my gear? man wtf dood im fucking lvl 30? what is this horse shit?" and i have 11days played of 23 calendar days, im about 75% done with ShB MSQ and have lvl 80 AST and currently leveling up 63 WHM to capitalize on MSQ xp. He can do it, but it will be challenging to get through it all- i read 2x faster than he does, i just get 1 full set of tier gear before moving to next expansion and save all the MSQ gear for other jobs

I recently started FF14 after years of thinking it was just another MMO with a bit of FF flavour. I've never liked MMOs for a multitude of reason, primarily the combat. This one immediately gripped me, and I instantly liked the combat.
2021 has been absolute shit for me, so I couldn't have run into this game and it's amazing community at a better time.

@@XenosysVex I'm very excited for the raids, myself. I've always loved challenging superbosses, and FF is one of the best series for that. Watching Asmon's raid vods shows me that this game delivers exactly what I want, too. King Moggle Mog is straight up perfect.
I'm a slow pseudo-completionist type player whose power-gaming is going out of the way to make games harder from start to finish, even if it means savescumming for hours to manipulate such an outcome. For example, I'm dumping all quest EXP into an alt class so my main is never above the absolute minimum. Dumb, I know, but shredding through quests that are 4 levels above me when I'm already gimping myself is easily the worst part of the game, imo.
I also watch cutscenes, so I'll probably just be starting Heavensward by the time Endwalker drops.

Asmon is definitely not getting carried, you can tell hes a really good player to do what he does and be a good streamer that pays attention to chat. But his other 7 are way better than any other 7 I've ever had, lol. Summit and Annie have had much more "normal" experiences.
Bro, his whole party is made out of raiders that do Ultimate. He's not bad by any means but he's still getting carried hard through fights. He doesnt have to know or remember every single mechanic in the fight.

@Jay Bee it's easier on tanks now compaired to then. Back when tanks had to stance dance and dps to avoid dps from pulling a bosses aggro while having to keep up good dmg for dps checks. It's not even comparable to how it was compaired to now. Tanks are so watered down and unga bunga now with little to no responsibility aside from move boss here during X mechanics.

Yeah Asmon isn't getting carried as he does his tank job fine but I think most ppl are saying "carried" because of how the fights are progged with 7 players who are super experienced vs going in with 7 other new players, some ppl watching summit's stream were saying Asmon got carried because summit goes in with judd a new tank and only a few experienced players at first so prog takes alot longer and because of this he gets more time to figure out more of the mechanics instead of Asmon clearing the fights fast where he doesn't get to learn them as much which isn't really his fault as tank mechanics in ARR are easy and he just has a better group.
Asmon randomizes his parties besides dom , he only kept same coils group because it wouldn’t be fair to just prog a few fights then ditch em. & most of summits wipes that I’ve seen were due to Judd, he couldn’t even keep track of stacks to tank swap or just stood in AoEs
@@Irovetti He only started to randomise his groups like that starting with Mog ex and Shiva ex which all are pretty easy when compared to coil T5-13. He literally asked twitch chat if he should go in with more with random players who haven't cleared before as he wants to make his stream more entertaining because some ppl were saying carried since coils were cleared super fast due to having 7/8 experienced players. Watching summit clearing those fights was more enjoyable overall as he spent more time figuring out the mechanics instead of some fights being over in 30mins with Asmon.
If he attempts to do any savages/ultimates I just hope at least most of the group haven't cleared before as this is a better experience and more entertaining to watch or better yet hope he goes in with summit would be amazing to see them both clear together.
@@Zellos101 No he didn't. He's randomized all his groups even coils, but he kept the same coil group throughout all of them because he thought it wouldn't be fair to ditch them after progging. He's invited some members from his previous groups like dom, or sea lion sure but that's about it. You can literally go watch his vods if you want

Also he changed Mog ex and Shiva ex to "duty incomplete" this wasn't done with coils.

Depends I think he can get the clear as a tank if he gets 7 experience people with the fight who have cleared together. If he goes fresh and everyone is new, hes going to have a harder time.

I’ve recently been leveling all tanks together (all currently at 56, have not unlocked gunbreaker yet) and I’m liking warrior the best which coming into it I thought I would prefer paladin or dark knight. Obviously I need reserve final judgement for when I have them all leveled but that’s where I’m at so far. Loving warrior class!
Found your content yesterday due to Asmon himself and I might say I missed a FFXIV content creator who uses "fuck" as ponctuation and don't care about being polite all the time ROFL xD subscribed. I have the same read about Asmon as you, his prior MMO experience helps him and you can see his brain melting when he don't understand a mechanic, trying to figure it out. When I ask people how Asmon is getting carried when he literally does all the mechanics and plays on min ilvl, they always respond "hes playing tank so his clears don't count". Imagine having shit takes like that and at the same time making tankxiety threads on reddit lmao. 😂
He killed his megaflare partner during adds phase on every pull in t13. He forgot to grab Bennus on half the pulls in t12. If you did final coil when it was relevant, you’d understand how much Dom carried him on the final phase of t12 doing all of the brand passes for him. His clears count and he’s clearly better than like 50% of players already but if you think he’s doing ‘literally all the mechanics’ you should look up all the mechanics to appreciate how few he’s doing.
@@d40warrior he's also not using any guides and learning the mechanics on the fly, often getting piecemeal but incomplete advice from either chat or his raid members. which is great if he wants to do it that way, but it absolutely means he's going to miss stuff.
@@twocows360 Very true. He is also still super new to the game still sub level 60. He has time to learn as the content gets harder and more is asked of him. Like you said he is also going in blind and part of that I think is for entertainment and getting surprised by the content like with Bahamut. If he was doing serious prog for speed he would prep before hand and be a lot more crisp (which he probably will for the ultimate and maybe savage if he decides doing *all* of them like he said he wants to takes too long).
@@d40warrior Dom has been explaining mechanics every time Asmon gets stuck also lol, people are severely underestimating how hard he's carrying him. It would've taken him multiple hours to clear Thornmarch EX if he wasn't there to explain to Asmon when Asmon got stuck/confused

I'm a tank main from day 1 on ff14 and Dom is hyper carrying him because the older fights are not nearly as unforgiving on dps checks and reliance on healer lb3 to clear. As he gets to newer raids and has more personal responsibility put on him things will start to change. Also people fail to see just how much having 5-7 vet players on the higher end of gameplay 80%+ makes a difference in clearing older content. Jobs ability powers are way stronger than back in 2.0-3.0 because of skills consolidation/rebalancing making his prog be appt faster due to shear brute Force unga bunga by the rest of his groups.

@8:41 I'll say the same thing here that I said in one of Asmon's coil videos: Asmon cleared the coils easily enough because of the combination of his experience as an mmo player, the team of which he brought that generally knew the mechanics, and the much MUCH more streamlined and beefier toolkit/sub-stats that we have at all levels now compared to what we had back in 2.0, and the proof is in the content. For example, even at minimum ilvl, when Asmon's group made their way through Twintania, he barely had to do anything to deal with Death Sentence. He didn't need a shield to survive it, he barely even needed Rampart for it (which Warrior didn't even have back in 2.0), and he didn't need to tank swap for the infirmary, which an inexperienced team would've had to do if they went in at minimum ilvl back in the day. Honestly, I think the real challenge will start to present itself whenever he reaches Alexander Savage. THAT'S what I'm looking forward to the most.

So many people that doesn't do harder content in this game thinks it's some insanely difficult shit that only the 1% can do. Take newly released extremes for example, people blind clear those with randoms in party finder day 1 in like an hour, it's a joke. If you are dedicated and are willing to invest time into the game learning mechanics and improve, you can easily clear a savage tier week 1 or 2 in just party finder. Ultimates are the same thing, the only thing hard about ultimates is the 7 other people. If everyone else in your party is playing perfectly and making no mistakes, it's extremely fast for an individual to learn and pick up mechanics and clear. I will not be surprised at all if it takes Asmon less than a week to clear UCOB.
This is an interesting take for me.
I've always kind of been a gatekeeper for myself in regards to clearing harder content, mainly because my work keeps me very busy and I just don't have a lot of time that I can invest. Not to mention my work schedule is unpredictable making it hard for me to set specific times where I would be able to raid with a static group. So I have this double-edged "I only have a limited amount of time to work with and I have no idea when that time will be" issue that really makes it hard for me to make any commitments.
It'd be interesting if I could find a group to do some harder stuff eventually, though. I've wanted to clear UWU for the PLD sword and shield glamour for a long time.
Most people that clear week 1/2 look at what the better world first groups did to make most of their progress. I'd bet money if it wasn't for raid guides for Savage most pugs would clear Savage period. Even with pug strats they still mess them up regardless of how braindead they are. Imagine pugging with groups without guides. You'd get nowhere... Without good players leading the way most casual/bad ones wouldn't bungle their way through it to begin with.
He's gonna get there in time before the expansion is out. He's got time. he probably have 2 months to spare before the expansion is out after finishing all msq and some extra content.

Going by the number of quests when you start Heavensward he's 34% through the main story.
ARR quests: 244
HW quests: 138
SB quests: 162
ShB quests: 157
Total quests: 701
He did 244 quests in 32 days. At the current pace it would take him 91 days to complete Shadowbringers. He could theoretically finish the main story by October if he keeps his current pace. That would leave him a month to prog an ultimate before the release of Endwalker.
Hmm. Damn that's really interesting. I hope he can stay on pace and get there in time. iirc though, there are more and longer cutscenes in sb and shb? Could be wrong but if that's the case then the number of quests doesn't matter too much because the time it will take will be longer
Asmon is already way ahead of most players in terms of the basics and being able to identify mechanics, he's gonna be a beast of a tank by the time he finishes Shadowbringers.

Well you can’t really carry ultimate since many mechanics if you fuck up you kill the party. If he clear it then big GG to do do it even if it’s in 6 months. Of course it’s easier if you find a party with 7 peoples who clear it already. But it doesn’t mean you can just walk in and clear with them.
If he clears tea he will 100% deserve it. There's so much personal responsibility in there.

Asmon isn’t being carried. I’ve seen my share of tanks in FFXIV. He’s got skill. Rough around the edges, of course since Asmon has just started. He even admits that he wants to get better. There are plenty of great tanks in the game. But people have to understand, those great ranks have been playing the game for years. They’ve had time to refine and perfect their skills.
It's not about him. It's about the TEA Players he keps around to get the clears. Without them, his clears would take an average amount of time.

and i have 11days played of 23 calendar days, im about 75% done with ShB MSQ and have lvl 80 AST and currently leveling up 63 WHM to capitalize on MSQ xp. He can do it, but it will be challenging to get through it all- i read 2x faster than he does, i just get 1 full set of tier gear before moving to next expansion and save all the MSQ gear for other jobs
