युद्ध की शरुआत पाकिस्तान ने की । पाकिस्तान ने पूरी तैयारी के साथ युद्ध शुरू कर दिया । भारत ने पूरी वीरता के साथ प्रतिकार किया । भारत की सेना लाहौर तक पहुँच गई ।
युद्ध भारत ने जीता लेकिन ताशकंद में कूटनीति में हार गया ।
पाकिस्तान चार बार 1948, 1965, 1971 और 1999 युद्ध लड़ा तथा हर बार हारा है और हमेशा हारता रहेगा ।

Technically Pakistan lost, they attacked first with objective of conquering Kashmir, which they could not. India was at defensive position with the objective of not letting the enemy invade Kashmir. Although both the countries lost some part of its territory which is bound to happen in such military conflicts. And at the end what Field Marshal Ayub Khan said, he will never put 100 Million Pakistani citizens at Risk for 5 Million Kashmiris.
