You two are so beautifully old fashioned. It's clear that you were well-raised and secure. Taking your time to get to know each other and taking into consideration your differences is so smart and mature. Rather than pretending that there are no differences, in the long run it will serve you so much better.

My boyfriend is Russian and it took me a while to notice that it is a cultural thing for many Eastern Europeans. That Russian people are not outgoing or "friendly" like Americans. They mind their own business and do not bother people and do not go up to strangers. It can be seen as very rude and nosy.
Because we used to live in a world like that. If you disrespect someone and can't back yourself up then you're going to be having a really bad time. We basically lived in a state of anarchy in the 90s.
@Walking Journey Learn some geography. What is considered central Russia is located in the eastern Europe. Ural mountain ridge is what divides Europe from Asia. Russia spans across both eastern Europe and Asia.
Germans are like that too...very judgemental. Nosey always watching Black people. Now they have rules against racism there thankfully. But Europeans are lazy .they don't work like us. Some are not outgoing nor optimistic..see how he keeps showing differences. So. Why can't he just be with a pretty girl. That us the judgement free zone. He still has issues.it can be learning experience for him ..he sows all his wild oats with her.then marries someone else. He can decide it's not for him too many people see them as different and he can't handle the heat. See it's a silent issue that can be used for escape later. Anyway...he keeps talking about it. I think they need to accept and move on or not.

When he said we don’t hug in Russia and a Russian guy I met earlier hugged me after we talked saying it’s a Russian gesture. I was tricked! 😂
Honestly though we DO hug in Russia! It probably depends on your social circle/city/age, but it's definitely the norm among my friends/acquaintances to greet each other (and say bye to each other) by hugging, aside from sometimes two guys greeting each other, which is usually a modified supposedly more "manly" handshake-hug lol.

Not sure 🤔. It’s still very difficult for me to hug people unless they are very close family, although I have been living in another country for 15 years.
People hug if they are close friends, relatives or have any liking.It s not an usual thing if u are not very well known with the person.

E Mack some black people prefer a lighter complexion over a darker complexion, that goes for both male and females, then again, some black Americans prefer dark skin over a lighter complexion, just because someone prefers a lighter complexion, doesn't mean that they think dark skinned people aren't beautiful, it's just a matter of preference, that's all. There are over 40 million black Americans that live in the U.S, unless you've had a personal conversation with each and ever one of us, how on earth, did you come to this ridiculous conclusion that MOST black Americans don't think dark skin is beautiful? Any time someone generalize a group of people, that's flat out racism, that's no difference than someone saying, that MOST black people steal or MOST black people are lazy!

@Jim Richmond Like attracts like. Victoria is pretty and she saw a fine looking man (didn't care about his race/color) and just wanted to get to know him. It probably had everything to do with him being handsome, since she didn't even know his personality or that he is Russian.
I'm petite/short like Victoria and trust me, my eye is ALWAYS on very tall men. My boyfriend is attractive and 6'4. I spotted him and indirectly made my move, by "accidentally" bumping into him. :)

Russia is huge country. Not all parts of Russia are cold. In Southern, European part of Russia (Black sea coast) even palms can grow and climate is mild.

I like your story, it sounds like how my mom and dad meet. My dad from africa amd my mother from Hawaii who is mixed russian and fijian and I am mixed as well(obviously). So to see two different people fall inlove for true love is awesome and not because you are a black woman who ONLY dates white men and look for white men only because you want your kid to have good hair and eyes and skin. Thats just self hate and crazy all in 1.

I swear it is a confidence thing i never had. Once I even choked on my saliva when I wanted to ask “how are you?” To a guy which I didn’t even fancy, I just knew him😂😂😂 i coughed for a whole 1 minute🙈 I wanted to dissapear. I used to get super shy around everybody. Now that I am married, That didn’t change. I have to be close to someone in order not to be shy.
