Thanks so much. You are very right. Let me add this truth about the name Africa. The richest man who lived in the 15th century was called Afoakwah. They were Akans. Wherever they lived on earth, Gold appeared in the ground where they lived. Thus, from Ur, through Canaan to Sudan, then Songhai empire, Mali empire, Ghana empire and later migrated down south to current day Obuasi. They were followed mostly by traders from Arabia. They could not pronounce the name Afoakwah. They pronounced it Afraka. With time, Europeans followed them in search of Gold. "we are going to Afraka to buy gold." This continued for so many centuries across the Sahel. When the land started drying up to become the desert we know today, the Akans moved down south to their present location today. These traders followed the Akans down to Obuasi where gold just surfaced. With time the pronunciation of the Afraka became Afrika. Amongst the Chiefs and the Elderly of west Africa, the Afoakwahs were known as "Afoakwah Sikanii". Meaning, "Afoakwah the rich man". Today they have spread over west Africa, but are concentrated at Obuasi and all over Ghana. So the name Africa was originally - Afoakwah, then Afraka, and later, Afrika.
