I just love how he not only does not get irritated by Missy hugging him but instead immediatly grabs her arm for comfort.
Everybody needs a hug sometimes. Some people only need it once in a great while and if you try to hug them when they don’t need it they get mad, but eventually they’ll need at least one.

But nevertheless missy is there for him when he gets upset. She may love the trashtalk but when it matters she is there to give comfort.

Even though it might sound heartless since this is supposed to be a sad scene, I can appreciate the fact that George scolded Sheldon and made him pay for the repairs. He doesn’t baby Sheldon or treat him any differently from the other kids, but he still clearly loves his son.
He didn't need to tell him he's very disappointed in him. Sheldon was just trying to help
Exactly!
George is a good father, but he does not understand Sheldon.
@@mrmucro2704 He doesn't understand him but I think the scene still holds a lot of power. Sheldon considered himself smart and "above the adults." even in his own home. His arrogance with his mother and at the start with his father shows that despite his 'genius' nature and 'I'm in the top 1% of the worlds IQ despite being a quarter of their average ages combined' he's STILL a child. He STILL needs to be taught that despite "having a book" and "being smart" sometimes you really need to actually look beyond all that and realize that you're still a kid who still doesn't know much about the world.
This scene is important to Sheldon's growth as a child because it shows him that despite being smart he can still be wrong. It's a variation of Minkus from Boy Meets World.
The Genius Child still needs to be shown that they're wrong and that their actions can have far reaching concequences.
Except Sheldon WASNT wrong. He figured out how to fix the refrigerator and the arrogant adults didn't give him a chance.

Missy doesn't hate Sheldon. She hates how she is not able to have the same freedom he has. When Sheldon first was separated from her, Missy had separation anxiety. She excells where Sheldon does not. Missy is brilliant in her own way. Her empathy is what makes you love her.

You didn't miss that much.
Scenes like this led me to believe she was the older twin.
@@joshmg25 I don’t even think it’s that. I mean she might be, but Missy understands social cues. She’s more in touch with her emotions and what someone crying would need than Sheldon is. Sheldon doesn’t really understand and that’s not his fault it’s just how his brain is. The creators have denied that he is on the autism spectrum, but the way they portrayed him whether intentional or not has led many people to believe Sheldon probably has Asperger’s. He displays many many traits and characteristic of it throughout the series. Had TBBT been released in 2022, the creators probably would have confirmed it.
It's an awful thing to have to scold your child but even Sheldon has to learn that just because your smart does not mean you're going to get away with bad behaviour especially something that costly. It was nice to see Missy comfort him though, watching him cry was heartbreaking.
I agree with that but George said it WAY wrong.
Sheldon was just trying to help and make his parents proud and be independent for once.
George should have INSTEAD said “I understand that you wanted to help, but you went about it the wrong way, I am upset at your actions”
But just saying “I’m disappointed in you” can break a child’s soul…
@@ninjafalls1739 Help means doing something to fix something that was being a problem for all the family.
What Sheldon did was because the problem only bothered him, that's not helping.

If that noise was actually a problem to everyone in the house then it was helping, if it only bothers him and he only act because he wants things his way that's not helping.
I love Sheldon but he can't be justified of everything.
Edit: Also hearing "I'm disappointed in you" doesn't break a child soul, it makes them feel sad yes but they need to understand when they did something really bad.
Telling your kid that you are disappointed with something bad they did isn't going to hurt the kid as much as you think.
Yes, they will feel sad obviously but they will also understand what they did wrong and to never do it again.
No one says their kid that they are disappointed in them unless they actually did something really really bad, that's why it makes kids understand instead of "breaking their soul".

@@naynut4080 when you watch the show, it's kinda obvious that he was intended to have aspergers, as someone with aspergers it was crystal clear to me. from his love for trains, that one episode where he explicitly says that he can't understand emotions and mannerisms of others well to his obsession with routines. (rigid bedtime routine, eats only certain meals in certain days, wears certain shirts on certain days, etc) he even has multiple jokes on not understanding the irony multiple times in the show. (he constantly asks leonard and penny if what they say is ironic or not) maybe the producers didn't want to put it out there but jim parsons confirmed his views on it
The Missy and Sheldon hug reminds me of my childhood. I and my brother were the same way, if one of us cried the other couldn't stand it we'd usually comfort each other just like this. It's probably why were so close now as adults, he tells me more things than he even tells our own Mom. In the first scene I cried with Sheldon cause I’m how it feels to try and fix something and get that response in return.
Sheldon deserved it that scolding. He wasn't fixing anything, it's just that in his whole life no one has ever told him no before. His mum coddled him like crazy and everyone around him gave in to his every whims.
If someone didn't step in and tell him to stop, he would've dismantled the tv, the radio, the car, etc.

Missy is such a sweet little girl
Missy is so sweet giving Sheldon a hug. In The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon's future wife, Amy hugs him
Good for George. He's actually holding Sheldon accountable for his actions instead of Mary who just coddles him. If everyone did this to Sheldon he probably wouldn't have been so spoiled as he is!!!
Yes! Sometimes being a good parent also means disciplining your child. Not through yelling, or spakings/etc. But through calm discussion the way George Sr did it. You can tell it broke his heart, but he did it. Sometimes tough love can be the best of teachers.

he made a 10 year old get a job made him get up at 5 in the morning and Sheldon didn't even like just because someone is Smart doesn't mean they can do anything thing especially a 10 year old
@SamuelMin-jx7dq you have to keep in mind that this is a different time in the show. Saying that's wrong now wasn't seen as such back then.
Missy and Sheldon remind me of me and my brother especially in this scene. My brother is very black and white, much like Sheldon, and growing up we used to bicker constantly but after 5 minutes we’d be laughing and watching a show together. Missy might pick on Sheldon but she loves him and will always be there for him
the young sheldon show has a lot of wholesome scenes
I just LOVE Missy! She might mock her siblings but in reality she's HIGHLY empathetic and caring and truly adorable
I love his tender moments with Missy, just seeing him in a loving sibling relationship is just so fascinating for the character of Sheldon
Missy so damn sweet
What’s kinda funny about these shows is Sheldon gets a bunch of character development in Young Sheldon, but loses most of it before BBT starts
Once he grew up enough to live on his own he had no one he needed to be accountable to until Leonard and Penny came along. Several years on his own probably caused him to regress and lose a lot of his social skills.
It’s a prequel. They didn’t plan to do Young Sheldon
So generally a lot of people guess that Sheldon regressed after his parents split up and his dad died, especially since he was away from home for college at the time and wasn’t able to draw on family support because his mom was grieving and Georgie had to look after her and Missy.
As an adult, Sheldon is actually like a cartoon character. Younger Sheldon, while a pain in the butt, is actually more believable.
Anyone else think that young Sheldon was crying mostly because he was disappointed in his own incompetence to put the fridge back together again and his father saying he was disappointed was painful because it was a jab at how he already felt, rather than him feeling sad because he did something naughty and his father was disappointed he chose to act that way?
It's also the same with older Sheldon, being sad when he feels less competent than someone else, which to him is the same as being incompetent.
Considering how adult Sheldon looked at his father with nothing but disdain, I suspect young Sheldon's crying was because someone he considered to be so far beneath him was standing there scolding him and telling him how he (George) was disappointed in him. How dare lowly George be disappointed in almighty Sheldon.
I think he dislikes his father as an adult because he cheated on Mary and broke the family.

Missy is such a cute child. Awwww
Missy may not be super smart but she has a level of empathy that can only be described as inspiring.
Sheldon should be greatful of his Dad and Sister here. His Dad taught him hos carelessness and greatfly hurt others he cares about. And his siste showed why she can he mean, and when to show symphathy at right times.
The one thing that hurt the most as a kid was your parents telling you they were disappointed.
Missy knew that although Sheldon should not have pulled the fridge apart, he only did it because he thought he was helping.
Also, when she says "If you start crying I won't be able to enjoy your pain", she wasn't purposely being mean, rather she was just trying to get him to not be sad, to try to get him to come back at her with one of his sassy remarks, but instead, he continues to get more upset, and she realizes she needs to comfort him properly.
Regardless of how sad the scene may have been, Sheldon needed to hear that from a parent.
Props to iain for being such an amazing actor though.
2:36 "its leaps and bounds ahead of mine" i legit love the aww the audience gives. id love to believe that this reaction is genuine because weve been conditioned to feel sympathy for that kind of thing from sheldon
Awww 😢😢😢 when little Sheldon cry I cry too... it's sooo sad and touching. Even Sheldon is harmless and emotional
I'm probably a bad person for saying this, but I'm glad George Sr. gave Sheldon the business. Sheldon hasn't matured much through the years and rarely show any form of humility. His mother spoils him and constantly enables his behavior. If he encounters someone smarter than him, he becomes petty about it and acts out. In a time when personal computers were generally considered an expensive luxury for your home, Mary buys it for him because Sheldon wants it. God no wonder why his siblings felt like he's the favorite.
I mean that was warranted and that is actually how I want parents to discipline their kids.
@Christopher Bingham Christopher I have seen you around here a lot of times. Don't you think that autistic people have certain triggers and that sound was triggering Sheldon?
It might not mean a lot to us but for someone on the spectrum it does matter. It was affecting his sleep and his normal work routine and its not like he didn't inform his parents about the sound bothering him.
If the adults aren't helping him, what was he supposed to do in this case?
@Christopher Bingham can't say i agree with you about the computer. If it was 2022 I'd say it's necessary for someone like him to have. In the 80s however it's a different story. A personal home computer at the time was considered a luxury and the average family would have no use for one. Sheldon didn't need a computer to do taxes and homework, something he enjoyed doing by themselves before. He pretty much wanted an expensive toy.
@Christopher Bingham I don't think Meemaw is as generous as you think her to be and even if she was I really doubt George Sr. would accept the money considering the fit he threw when she offered to pay for Sheldon's computer. Also I don't think anyone would even think there was a problem since Sheldon was the only one who was triggered by the sound.
I think Sheldon did the best he could as a 10 year old.
@Christopher Bingham But he cannot. For normal people, it would be simple to just live with it but Sheldon has been shown to be on the spectrum. Autistic people have certain triggers like sounds and colours that they cannot ignore. Even if they aren't rich, they should have still listened to Sheldon considering he was having trouble sleeping and following his normal routine.
It's about time Sheldon got in trouble. He thinks he can do whatever he wants with no consequences.
@Christopher Bingham in season 3 mainly
@Christopher Bingham he deserved it
@Christopher Bingham The consequences were incredibly tame. His mum coddled him his entire life, and everyone around him keeps telling him he's a genius. He has an enermous ego for his age and someone needed to tell him no.
Apparently, Missy didn’t help as she just comforted him. Even if Sheldon cried, he didn’t deserve to be comforted as what he did was wrong and costed the family 200 bucks.
Agreed. His narratives in the Big Bang Theory are very one-sided. I like how Young Sheldon gives more color and character to everyone. It shows that his stories are just his opinions and not necessarily what really happened.

Dude, You don’t have to be so mean, he was only 10 lol
@@darladoll6336 He's a young child but he's got the arrogance of someone four times his age and has already got a list of accomplishments under his belt. I enjoy seeing anything even a little negative happen to him. If it wasn't for the other cast members and their stories being featured just as much as his, I'd have stopped watching
Amazing actor he is. I know he will definitely go places. If he continues to do acting, I know that he will do very well!
Reminds me & my sister's young days. Love them
“I’m VERY disappointed in you!” Oooch… you can feel that pain…
I am shocked Sheldon didnt think of a way to make a ton of money for he and his family.
He always claimed money didn't mean anything to him and he proved to be very selfish as exhibited in the episode where he and Missy got separate rooms and he claimed ownership of nearly every item in the room, even the waste basket. This was repeated in TBBT when he and Amy started living together and he and Leonard were dividing their possessions. Sheldon claimed absolutely everything to be his. And he ridiculed Georgie for being very successful in business and having made a lot of money. Georgie helped support Mary and Missy after Sheldon left, but there is no indication that Sheldon helped when he started earning money. He just squirreled it away. (I will admit he loaned some to Penny when she needed it.)
Young Sheldon is like a sad puppy when he cries.
The best feeling is when you’re crying/upset and someone hugs you like that. The arm hold too is so true.
The Young Sheldon scene was so sad. I think in many ways how we can relate to this.
I can relate to missy, I really enjoy it when my parents scolding my brother but when he starts crying it doesn't feel good anymore. 🥴
Every sibling can relate tho💀
