    As long as we make playoffs this year and beat the Saints twice I’m a happy fan. Kirk is here to get us to the playoffs and Penix is here for the future for hopefully championships. I’m fine with this move. Yes, unconventional but at least they have the balls to do what they believe in. Most would follow the sheep because they are sheep.

    The team didn’t “get caught with their pants down” at the end of the Ryan era, th he pantsed themselves by not communicating with their current starter, and they did the same exact thing Thursday night.
    I like Penix as a QB prospect, and I hope he’s the face of the franchise in a few years, but don’t say you’re in “win now” mode when you’re drafting a guy in the top 10 that won’t see the field for 2-3 years.

    I hope Kirk Cousins plays well 3yrs. meanwhile, MP Jr. will be 27 or 28 years old. and you will have him as a starter for at least 7 or 8yrs. depending on health. Now, if this is the case, Arthur Blank gets back $45 million of his money back. The only bad thing is that we can't capitalize on MP Jr. rookie contract like Seattle did with Russell Wilson.

    Nice to listen to a calm, reasoned and upbeat discussion on Michael Penix Jr. being drafted by the Falcons. I liked the pick when they made it, I like it now and I'm tired of all the wailing and moaning that we didn't take an edge player at #8. Nobody picked a defensive player after us until middle of the 1st, so the leading edge players were hardly elite anyway.

    Not all that familiar with the pedigree of the Offensive Coordinator. Does he have a history with Kirk. A ton of things will ride on that as oppose to just the Head Coach. A healthy Kirk should be good for 10 wins and the playoffs. Slow and steady usually wins the RACE as oppose to those crying, we are in the Win Now Mode. Win what exactly. No matter who they drafted this year, that wasn't going to be wining the Superbowl.

    • @maya_coqsalonga
      @maya_coqsalonga Před měsícem

      The OC came from the McVeigh coaching tree. He'll be running a West coast offense like the Rams/49ers/Vikings do. So Kirk is well suited to this offense. Penix hasn't run this type of offense in college. He was a running QB at Indiana and they ran a spread run & shoot offense at Washington. So sitting behind Kirk for seasons sounds about right. If you want to see what this could look like, just watch the 4 games Josh Dobbs played for the Vikings last season when Kirk went down. That's why he needs to sit for a couple seasons.

  • @atlnla4112
    @atlnla4112 Před měsícem +3

    The problem was not what they did, but how they did it. First I’m okay with the other draft picks. I think JD (Kamikaze) will be a steal. The others good role players, with seemingly high motors, when if coach well will be great contributors. But with Penix (who I’m not a big fan of) on their radar, why give Cousins guaranteed 100 mill? Or, give the 100 mill and say we want you here as the bridge for our next qb. And since Penix was projected late 1st, early 2nd they could have come up with a better package to drop down, and still gotten him later. But the biggest takeaway is they think Penix is the future, but look at how many 1st round qb’s are out of the league or are backups now. We had one recently in Mariota. If the defense is good we could just go out and pay a free agent then like Tampa did with Brady and LA did with Stafford. The last two winning qb’s outside of Mahomes. So they’re thinking he’ll be Mahomes and not 90% of the other qb draft picks.

  • @joewyatt2269

    Why is everyone so dumb? I'm not an NFL expert but I was saying, hey if there's a QB they like fans need to be ready for them to make that pick. I didn't know which QB they liked or if any of them beyond the top 2-3 guys would entice them if they fell. I was actually thinking JJ McCarthy might be a guy they could pick and sit. I wasn't expecting Penix, not because of his talent, but because I thought his medicals might be why he wasn't high on most of the draftniks' big boards.
    I felt the time a young QB could sit and learn from Cousins was the true value. Basically you can extend the lifespan of Cousins' knowledge beyond his ability to play on the field.

  • @mas2913
    @mas2913 Před měsícem +1

    My issue is, why couldn’t they plan ahead and got both the future QB and the pass rusher they direly needed? The Vikings were able to do that. The Jets were open to do business! In my mind, there is a level of strategic or tactical flaw in the decision-making process. Quality is always better than quantity. Raheem better deliver those wins he is promising because if they end up picking top 10 next season, he will need to move on

They can still make the playoffs even if they're old injured quarterback gets hurt again... And when Kirk cousin's production starts falling off we now know what the future is... I will tell you this none of the people in the media cared at all when Atlanta sucked it's amazing how passionate they were about there Steaning 🔥Takes considering none of them are Atlanta fans...

  • @bryanjones4444
    @bryanjones4444 Před měsícem +1

    It really only makes sense if Cousins gets hurt within the next two years or they trade one of the quarterbacks in the next two years. I don't see that happening. Kirk has put up Hall of Fame numbers his entire career and is showing no signs of slowing down. He was hoping to retire 4-6 years down the road as a Falcon and that would be a best case scenario for the Falcons. Now that cannot happen. The GM basically said lets not do all we can do win right now. That was a terrible decision. In the Falcons best case scenario Penix's career is mostly wasted. He is the one who should be the most upset. Right now he is being told that he will start in 2-3 years but it is unlikely that you will replace a Hall of Fame quarterback still playing some of his best football. It was a terrible move because it very possibly cost them a win or two this season and it is very possible that game will be in the playoffs. Just plain stupid.
