    I never thought about it but you're right! Being able to try different folds and different fasteners really helps me realize that I don't really need to buy more cloth diapers. It satisfies my want for more/different diapers 🙂

    Thank you! I quit cloth diapers because I couldn’t get the wash routine down...but I stumbled upon your videos and tried flats. Game changer for sure!! Thank you for your content definitely does help. ♥️♥️♥️

      I also was having the hardest time with a wash routine and when I switched to flats then no more issues all clean diapers.

    I use flats because we line dry and they can get dry in 15 min in summer. In winter they would dry indoors without problems. I also prefer the washing, i can use just a long cycle rather than 2 or 3 cycles with my pockets.
    And with my big babies i can use them since birth to potty trained.
    Also totally agree with it takes away the wanting of buying more diaper types.
    I now only buy new covers which is another story 😂

    Not to mention flats are one of the most affordable kinds of cloth diapers out there. And you mentioned receiving blankets can be used as flats. I have a few I use as diapers they are super absorbent and one of my favorites. You can also find them in thrift stores and yard sales for super cheap. If I had to start all over I would do all flats. I have a bunch of prefolds with lots of layers and I had such a tough time with the wash routine and they took forever to dry all those layers. But now when I use my flats they always come out clean and never stink and they dry super fast. I also LOVE flats.

  • @amandasabundantblessings4559

    Flats are the only diapers we can regularly use. My water is super hard and flats are all we can keep clean. I wish I would have given them a chance 10 years ago when I first got into cloth. Live and learn. Flats are the best.

    Would love to more cloth diapering videos! Maybe an updated absorbency test with all your inserts and flats or all GMD products. Also have you tried the GMD newborn flats either Birdseye or Muslin?

      @lainaslife6351  Před 3 lety +3

      I haven't tried any newborn flats and I don't plan to add any to my collection right now either, I'm sorry! But I'll definitely have to add more absorbency videos to my list to complete! Thanks.

    The most popular and oldest flat was the old curity long rectangular flats with the pinked edges. You could see them hanging on clotheslines during the day. They were bought out by gerber and discontinued in late 70's. You can find them on ebay but very expensive. on youtube, if you type in "Ivory Snow commercials". Check out a couple of the commercials and let us know what you think LainasLife. You would have been perfect for those commercials. I do not think anybody would call you a "Crazy Person" for your love for cloth diapers. Many people like folding them and I have seen some woman carrying a cloth diaper when they go walking. Keep up the great work, have a nice day.

    Is there any benefit to doing an “origami” fold as opposed to a pad fold? I think this video has convinced me to get some flats. They’re just more versatile.

    • @lainaslife6351
      @lainaslife6351  Před 2 lety +2

      Folding a flat (whether origami or another fold) will help the newborn poo stay off a cover. In my experience, they can also help prevent leaks at nap or bedtime because it's wrapped all the way around the hips.

      I did recently upload my full collection and you can see what's in the baskets. But I don't have any kids in cloth right now so I'm not actively using them. I can update once our new baby is here though. Thanks for watching! ❤

    Are they absorbant enough on their own closer to potty training age?

    My main issue with cloth diapering has been leaking with my Nora Nursery pockets.
    I'm on the internet now to find other solutions! Does that one flat hold enough for a heavy wetter??! I'm going between fitted and prefolds (and now you've added flats to the convo!)

    • @lainaslife6351
      @lainaslife6351  Před 7 měsíci

      Flats are an excellent option if you don't mind folding. 👍 Different flats can have different absorbency though. The Cloth-eez muslin have great absorbency for a heavy wetter.

    Hi, can I use Muslim one size for a baby in a pocket diaper or do I have to invest on new born Muslim?

  • @SilviaKay

    I am having trouble with the absorbency of flats. Can they really be used without inserts until potty-training?

    • @lainaslife6351
      @lainaslife6351  Před 3 lety +1

      The green mountain diapers muslin flats that are my favorite lasted until potty training for both of my boys. Other flats like a traditional birdseye weave might need to be changed more often.

  • @beatrizortiz5881

    Hi!! Are newborn flats and half size flats the same thing? I bought some used ones and they were advised as newborn but the tag says half and on the GMD website there’s 2 options...either newborn or half so I wonder how are they the same or diff? Thanks girl

    • @lainaslife6351
      @lainaslife6351  Před 3 lety +1

      I always thought they were the same... the GMD website has a lot of pics you can see of different products on babies, so maybe you can find a comparison of they are indeed different.
