    Alot of people don't realize the hand work involved into making a real axe. Buckin must really like you for doing you that favor. I have been doing some handles for a FEW friends and myself and I have a hard time letting them go when you do one correctly. I hand work everyone I do minus a tiny amount of flap disking sometimes. THANKS for the video

    • @WildWestGarage
      @WildWestGarage  Před 2 lety +1

      I don’t really think Buckin’ would have thought he was doing me a favour by putting a handle to my ax head. I would honestly have to say he did it purely out of appreciation for the experience of everything that happened on the road trip, he did it as much for himself as he did it for me, it was just something that had to be done.

    The way to perfect making things is to repeatedly make one until you workout all the bugs . I have a Buckin’ Special, mostly I just look at it , every old tool I have triggers a memory , new ones just don’t do it 👍🇨🇦

    • @WildWestGarage
      @WildWestGarage  Před 2 lety

      I think with the Wood Bullet we want them to all be functionally the same as far as weight, shape and profile but each one will have it’s own minor imperfections. Old tools definitely bring me into a place of wonderment.

    What material did you make the axe out of? Heard Billy Ray say the head wasn’t tempered. Was there a reason for that?

    • @WildWestGarage
      @WildWestGarage  Před 2 lety

      EN42, I’m going to see how it Holds up, might temper the blade if it dulls to quickly

    • @mattstacy2797
      @mattstacy2797 Před 2 lety

      That’s a good spring steel. Your axe turned out great. In my experience axes aren’t very hard. Your axes should hold up as long as the bit isn’t ground on too steep of an angle.
