Sarek - The Circular Route

  • In late summer of 2022, we disembarked on a 160km circular route in the Sarek, aka The Last Wilderness of Europe. This is our story.

    02:42 - Day 2 - Pårek to Gådokjåhkå Bridge
    15.00 - Day 3 - Gådokjåhkå Bridge to Sarvesvagge
    17.43 - Day 4 - Sarvesvagge to Algavagge
    20.43 - Day 5 - Algavagge to Skarja
    23.30 - Day 6 - Skarja to Rapadalen
    28.58 - Day 7 - Rapadalen to Skierfe
    31.50 - Day 8 - Skierfe to Aktse
    34.02 - Day 9 - Aktse to Partestuga
    35.23 - Day 10 - Partestuga to Kvikkjokk

    Nice video. How did you get a key to open the reindeer hut?

      The lock was broken. They probably fixed it by now.
      Reindeer huts are for the Sami only. You can't stay there unless you have a real emergency.

    I guess you actually know it but said wrong word in the video, you said "Moose" @ ~22:42, but it's "Reindeer", and the "Reindeer hut" got it's name because it was used by Laplanders to live with Raindeers a long time ago when they actually lived among them.

      @@levb.7338 I watched several times more, and you might be right, it's really hard to see on the video, and since they where so small it looked like reindeers but it might be a small cow with her calf. Moose is very common sight in north of Sweden so it's not like you saw a Bear, a Wolverine or a Lynx ;) I've seen Bear with cubs a couple of times and Wolverine once in the wild, but never a Lynx.

      Not possible in that fog.
      I've been to Skierfe in the year prior. An amazing view from there...

    Be careful with the delicate nature of the Swedisch fjäll when walking through bushes. Tourism's impact on nature is a severe strain on the fragile ecosystem.
