- Tennessee had cold weather this year along with snow & ice. In this video we were able to do a Cold Start on the TYM Tractors T264 and clear the the drive and our road of snow. This amount of snow is very unusual for us.
A person can remove a lot of snow with just a bucket and tractor. A snow plow would have been faster, but this just doesn't happen often enough to buy one.

Hard Core! Not a soul out there except You and Tanya. I remember those cold days of my youth in the North East. Only my implement was a shovel. While on leave early in my Military career, I visiting Mom and Dad one Christmas and after a nice snowfall Dad broke out the Snow Blower. He let me have fun with it. Once done I asked him; "Dad why didn't you have this when I was here?" His response: "I had You."
I understand the labor thing. I was raised on a farm. I was a farm hand for a while.
For someone who has not pushed snow you did a fantastic job. I live in Colorado and have pushed a lot of snow. You had the bucket in the correct position and you kept it in a higher range to help keep the snow rolling. Nice job!!
Thank you my friend. Few thousand plus hours on a tractor helps a bit. LOL It is a bit like finish dirt work.
By having just the right bucket angle and pressure you’re getting the snow to curl nicely off bucket as if it were a plow, good job

I live in PA and I would recommend what I use is a grader blade. They are not very expensive and they have more than one use. Great job.
You are right. I keep looking at one, but just never get around to buying one. I will need one soon on the new property.

Montana Dan here, I plow with my tractors as part of my business and enjoy watching how others do it. I run a JD 1025R with the bucket (building a plow for it now) and a box blade. Box blades are wonderful snow tools as well. I also run a JD5075E with a cab with an 8' blade or bucket, and a 7' box scraper. Both tractors have loaded tires as well. An 8' snow blower is on the short list. Filled tires aside, that 24hp tractor cut that bottom ice layer, rolled that snow and ice through the bucket with no implement on the back or chains and R4 tires and kept going. I was waiting for it to either run out of power or traction. Didn't do either. I'm impressed.
It is amazing how these small tractors work. The 1025R is a well rounded tractor that works hard for its size. Today we have so many choices in tractors.

They have charged their mind. The T274 will be the new T25 which will take the place of the T264.
@@TonysTractorAdventure Thank you for the information, I almost bought a 264 last year but some "refinement" issues held be back like the seat; overall ergonomics; foot room and the fel's hoses staying with the tractor. I saw the T25 video and it looks to me like TYM heard my concerns and knocked it out of the park with this new tractor. I can't wait to learn more about the new T274. (Maybe even a Rural King RK27??)

The T274 is the T25.
Here in my area of northern New Mexico I put a grader blade on the back and offset to the right about 30 degrees. We can't put the bucket to the ground because our roads are gravel so the grader blade cleans what the bucket can't.
Nice. I don't worry to much about snow. We get snow like this every few years.

That's right! Don't need no stinking snow plow. A rear blade which could have been angled would have made quicker work of it though. I could have just rolled it off the side.

Our road cleared today with sun. 60 next week.
We will be planting corn in a little over a month. I keep telling myself that.
Thank you for this video. Many videos naysay using the loader bucket for snow. I think for someone that won't need to use it for snow but every couple years it seems to be a fine solution all by itself. I will need it on average a couple times a year. After this I think I'll order some edge tamers instead of the snow pusher I was considering and at least try them for this year. (Just got my tractor this summer.)
It will scratch the pavement with the way I do it.
doing a good job, you got the bucket in the right angle, you can also use a straight blade if it turns around that works well as well, I have done it a few time and I live in a snow state in Maine, where we get feet usually not inches, great job

You need Edge Tamers for your bucket. They work great
I guess. We get snow like this about every 7-10 years.
Another good video… one thing you might try is to spray the inside of your bucket with WD40 before you plow… it helps keep the snow from sticking and building up inside your bucket… FWIW… the same trick works with snow shovels and snowblowers too…

I know you are right. I was stationed at Fort Hood in 1994 when it snowed and iced just a bit. It shut everything down.

Dang it brother. I hope to not have to do this for another 10 years. We hardly ever get snow this deep. Our county is just not set up for it.

Have you ever thought of putting fluid in the front tires did it on my tractor made a world of difference I know you don't get much snow where you live but a snow plow for what you're doing would be an awesome thing to have
Most manufactures are against fluid in the front tires. It is harder on the steering system, but I see its value.
980 CAT was the best snow mover I ever used! I'm getting caught up on some tractor vids, all I have is an old Farmall H with farmhand loader. (can be seen on my dinky little channel!) I am very interested in the TYM tractors but don't have neart enough egg money for that just yet, but, the good Lord willing and the crick don't rise, someday!!! You can thank me for a sharp increase in videos watched because I am studying.
I truly appreciate you catching up. We have been very please with every thing on the TYM tractors we have. To this point, I have never had a shop issue. I have only did maintenance. The Farmall H is a fine tractor too.

How do you like winter now tony . we go through this year after year. Its snowing here in Massachusetts right now feb 19th , i love plowing snow with my ford 1520 perfect size for my yard . It looks like your having a heap of fun have fun nice video thanks your friend George.
It is fun fore sure, but this stops progress in our area. I am getting everything ready for garden season. We will be planting corn end of March. It only snows like this every 5 or 10 years. I guess in Massachusetts, it is just a way of life.

don't know about you, but in CT it is illegal to push any snow across a roadway, even if you're disposing on an empty lot across the street. I pull my snow in from the road, then push it to the side of the driveway
In Tennessee, they will will pay a person to push snow. Heck, they are liable to come give me a hug. I don't think you watch all of the video, because we cleared the road as well.

Just a point for cold start for diesel engines....push in the clutch so that the clutch plate is disengaged then start the engine...otherwise the clutch plate may get damaged which you don't want that.
I appreciate your wisdom on diesel engines, but in this case it would not apply. This tractor has a hydrostatic transmission and doesn't have a clutch. Some other tractor models do have a clutch. Have a good weekend my friend.
I got a Mahindra 1626 hydro trans and it comes with a clutch. This is my first hydro and I guess they all have a clutch. I guess I learned something today...Have a good weekend as well

A loader is not the ideal choice for plowing snow, but, if thats all you have, thats what you use. A real snow plow gets it done in a quarter of the time.
If only we got snow more often. I think it is fun.

You're better off to simply put a plow on that truck sitting there to be honest! It would go way faster and do a cleaner job!

I think you missed the point, No one has snow plows around here. Buying a snow plow around here is like planting corn in March at your place. It would just be a waste of time and money.
Friendly reminder to teach children as young as possible not to play in snow piles or drifts on the side of roads and driveways etc... and to always be aware of that possibility when you are clearing snow yourself.
A 12" snow is about the worst we get. Still, it is good information further north.

We have not seen any difference here. Tennessee's weather has always been like this.

The guts are the same as the T264 with a Yanmar engine. The T25 has a much better seat! I tested the T25 out the other day.

This is why the towns in my state (Maine) gets angry if you plow out to the road. We plow in from the road to the house.
Tennessee is a cool State. They are just happy when citizens pitch in clearing drives of the neighbors, roads, and pushing the snow off in the ditch so life can get on. We only get snow like this every 5 to 10 years. It is gone in a week, but we are not set up for it. Our road would still be covered if we waited for the county. I will be planting corn in about a month so this seems so crazy to me.
@@TonysTractorAdventure Yeah I love Tennessee I have a bunch of cousins that live outside of Nashville and my wife and I were at one point thinking about moving there. It's definitely good of you to take care of some of the snow in your area. Next time you have to move some might want to try a 3pt blade if you have some I see a lot of people up north that use those with surprising success.
I have thought about getting a rear blade. I use a box blade often but it would not work well. I could angle a rear blade and have finished this all in a tenth of the time. I may get one.
Just curious if your fuel was treated?
I don't know. I am sure it was winter diesel, but I didn't put anything in it. I never had any problem so it must have been treated.

Float will allow the loader to hang on a crack and dig in causing damage to the pavement.

I enjoy your content however your technique is wrong. This shouldn't be a how to. Are you enjoyable to watch, yes! Are you properly teaching people how to remove snow? No! You said you do this once every 5 years... I think that speaks for itself
I disagree. So many people are in the same situation we are this year. They too only get snow every few years. I showed them how to remove snow with a small tractor. We showed them it was morally right to help their neighbors if they had the means to do so. So I probably didn't do it the way you may have been taught, but by showing snow being removed that meets the very definition of how too. I never said, "how to do it the best way"!
