1917 AND THE BRUTALITY OF TRENCH WARFARE

Released in 2019, the film 1917 by British director Sam Mendes tells the story of two young British soldiers during World War I, who are given the mission to deliver a message warning of an ambush against their compatriots by the Germans, right after their withdrawal to the Hindenburg Line during Operation Alberich in 1917. Filmed in a simulated single continuous shot, the film competently recreates the trench environment and the brutality of the global conflict of the early 20th century.
