  • Just a quick set up guide and overview compared to my 3-4 year experience with a traeger. I am super excited about this thing!
    one flaw I have noticed is that the door handle gets really really hot, I needed a hot mat to open it. Also even on a 95f day in Texas the grill only could get to 460f on the highest setting. wouldn't even break 450 when set to 500

    The long fork is for moving pellets around in pellet hopper through HOLES WHERE YOU DUMP PELLETS IN. & i had same temperature problem ,Start with lid up till fan starts to get loud. if problem like you had ,turn off power button & unplug from power a few min. plug back in , power on , let start with lid up. good to go.

    I feel like the window will be "fogged" up with smoke in no time at all. I have the Magnum pellet grill from Cabelas, which is actually Camp Chefs deluxe model. I may be adding the searing station soon. The only problems I've had is the probe went out (which Cabelas replaced for free) and the heating element went out (which Cabelas refuses to replace even though they say lifetime warranty on everything they put their name on) I'll have to replace it myself soon. For now I just get them going with a small torch, lol

      Yep, I was wondering as I scrolled down through the comments if anyone would have noted this. It is interesting how Camp Chef makes slight mods for each of the companies that they make store brands for. Makes it a bit tough to comparison shop.

    Hey Cameron, thanks for taking the time to make this video. I subbed to your channel for what it may be worth. How do you like it? Any pros or cons? My brother is looking to buy a pellet grill and this is the one I've mentioned to him. I would think having that easy ash cleannout would be so nice. How is the quality of this compared to your old traeger? I know the traeger failed you but I'm asking in terms of over all quality. Metal thickness etc. Thanks in advance and hope you make some bbq videos using this one day. Cheers

    • @KameronATM
      @KameronATM  Před 6 lety +1

      Rusty KC build quality seems slightly higher than the Costco transfer little tex. The higher end traegers are equal or at least feel sturdy. I'm still pleased with it. The thermometer stopped working, the window does get hazy after a few uses. I am still very glad that I got it!

      Norman Divine Typical Cabala's, customer service is NOT their forte'. I was in their store in Columbus, Ohio trying to buy a $4000 safe and couldn't find a employee that was willing to help us. I complained to "corporate", never heard a word from them. That's why I would be suspicious of buying ANYTHING from Cabala's over $20. 😐

  • @WTrager
    @WTrager Před 7 lety +8

    That Cabela grill is a Camp Chef DX pro DLX - the only difference is that a window was installed in the hopper and grill lid. That honey comb hopper protector should NEVER be removed! That little rake that you thought was a grill grate cleaner, is used to move pellets in the hopper to the clean out chute, and to remove pellets that get caught in the corner of the hopper and auger. I pays to read the instructions before doing a YOU TUBE video, so you don't look foolish when trying to clean a grill grate with a hopper rake. I found it amusing how you were giggling and criticizing the company for including a rake that doesn't even fit the grill grates, when in fact, it is not supposed to fit those grates. That rake does a great job of doing what it was intended to do.

    • @KameronATM
      @KameronATM  Před 7 lety +1

      Thanks for the info. Glad I could amuse you with my "foolish" comments on the hopper rake. PS you should have counted my "ums" and "ohs" its much easier to make fun of how often I use those verbal "crutches"

    • @WTrager
      @WTrager Před 7 lety +1

      I didn't mind the "ums and ohs". I just don't want to see someone removing the auger guard, I almost foolishly lost my finger on a Traeger auger, because there wasn't an auger guard.
