- Bailey's pups are now 23 days old. They are so big that we cannot fit them all onto feed from her at the same time so we do a split shift! Here the first 3 have already had their solid food and now feeding from mum. The second 3 are just about to tuck into their solids and then when there is room at the milk bar they can also have a drink! This is only the second day that they have been trying to eat out of a bowl. As you can see they end up wearing as much as they eat! It's a steep learning curve for them!
So much care, time and effort and cost go into getting these puppies to 8 weeks old. My son works for an English Bulldog breeder and it is very time consuming. The cost to get a female pregnant and vet checks for her hormone levels is a lot. The cost for these dogs to have a c-section is well over a $1000.00. I am writing this so people understand that this breed of dog is expensive but a lot goes into a person getting that adorable puppy. When you get this breed, please take good care of it like a family member. They will require it.

Why are they weaned so early?
Shirley Richardson I don't know if you ever got an answer but most larger breeds are starting to get weaned at this age. Mom's naturally start to nurse less and less especially if it's a large litter with large puppies it can be very taxing on the mom to continue to solely provide the puppies their needed nutrition.
