Out of the Wild is a modern western, based on the story of Henry McBride, Jessie King, and a troubled mustang. It is a story of redemption that gives us a glimpse into ways of looking at horses, and perhaps even ourselves, with new eyes.
Our top notch team includes award winning Director & Producer Paul Krizan, actor and producer Ben Ashbrook, and acclaimed horse trainer, clinician, and writer Mark Rashid. This independent movie was shot last September in challenging conditions at the beautiful Cowboy Trail Rides in Red Rock Canyon, just outside Las Vegas, Nevada. The team worked through 110 degrees fahrenheit heat, a six day work schedule, dust storms and dramatic thunderstorms. What started as a labour of love turned into an endurance marathon!
Friends of Paul, Ben and Mark flew in from around the USA, Canada, Switzerland, Scotland, Ireland and beyond, to help out - from horse wranglers and set construction, to costume design and special effects. This film making it to the big screen is all due to the incredible amount of heart and soul poured into it by so many. The filmmakers rallied around one another and, against all odds, brought it home.

Out of the Wild is the story of Henry McBride, a down and out cowboy with a painful past he can't drink away.
Living on his last dollar with nowhere to go, he ends up working the last place an old cowboy wants to be: A dude ranch. It is here he meets the owner, Jessie King, a no-nonsense rancher with a deep love for horses. McBride's self-discovery begins when she introduces him to a new way of training a troubled mustang, a horse whose past and temperament mirror his own.
As the story brings together the paths of these two beaten souls, man and horse, it is King that sees a shared spirit deep within them- One that is hidden beneath anguish, torment, and years endured in the darkest of places. Behind the broken heart of a family lost, a soul tormented with guilt, and an endless haze of booze to dull the pain, she knows McBride is at heart a good man. Just as she knows the mustang can once again find that spirit, so too must McBride.
What transpires is a story of redemption, moving McBride beyond even his deepest wounds to discover a life he never thought possible.
A Contemporary, later in life, western-rancher romance. It achieves an authentic emotional feel, great cinematography, plus the setting, and costumes are authentic as well. I enjoyed this so much. Worth a watch for any romance or western movie lover.

I am not nearly up to the comments before, but I love it. I am not sure why.....but I find I watch it over and over given the time to find something.....I know it would make me feel good. Well done Mr Rashid......and all.....

Henry had to return to his deceased families graves to know he was ok.....those McBride boys are nothing but romantic.....being loved and loving again was the only way he was going to be alright....

What's with the ending? Really. Get old. Get around a good woman. A bad life. Most of all a good horse. Only the one's blessed know. Not a dumbass you just don't know. I did . Then I lost it. Great movie. People that get it. Well hell we're just different and old !!!!!
