  • Vigeland Sculpture Park is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Oslo, Norway: www.lifeinnorway.net/vigeland...
Set within leafy Frogner Park west of downtown Oslo, the sculpture park represents the life’s work of Norwegian sculptor Gustav Vigeland. Most of the 212 bronze and granite sculptures are an examination of the human form, ranging from the beautiful to the truly bizarre.
The towering monolith carved from a single piece of granite depicts 121 human figures clambering over each other. Women and men of different ages feature, while younger children clamber at the very top. They reach ever upwards, said to represent the long-standing desire of human beings to reach out to the divine. Although Vigeland designed the monolith in clay, the actual sculpting took three masons 14 years to finish.

Thank you so much for sharing this, with such details and explanations. The rain and the autumn colours just added more beauty to the scenes. Im affraid I will never visit the Park, but now I feel like I was there, priceless.
