Canada fought for all of Europe in WW2, you can see the Memorials that are specifically dedicated to the fallen Canadians Soldiers in France, Belgium, The Netherlands. The Dutch sent thousands of tulips to Canada in 1945 as gratitude & today we even have the Tulip Festival. The Dutch royal family took refuge in Canada during ww2 also. One of their princesses was born in Ottawa. The decision to join the war was Canada’s choice no one else’s. We manufactured aircrafts, ships, artillery, supplies through Mutual Aid program.....like the US did through Lend-Lease program.

Our national symbols were chosen for their historical significance, beaver pelts were a prized commodity for fur hats in the early ages of the country (back when Britain and France were squabbling over it, and some time after the British kicked France out) and the maple leaf symbolizes the syrup industry
