Fun fact William the Conqueror was actually a distant cousin of Edward the Confessor but when he died without any heirs a regency council appointed Harald Godwinson who was the last Anglo Saxon king as they didnt want William who was a Norman to be king. And also William only invaded and was even blessed by right of the Pope to basically conquer England by right

Not a king but one Age of history I’m really interested in is the Golden Age of Islam. There are so many things we still use today from that age and the architecture, language and science developments were incredible. One thing we still use today for instance is words like Alcohol or Alchemy. The “Al” in those words are Arabic.

Growing up in Hawaii and going to a Hawaiian school has taught me a lot about King Kamehameha the Great. He was born on the night that Halleys comet passed over the earth in the 1700s. His mother named him Pai'ea, or hard-shelled crab, after dropping him on his head. He was prophesied to conquer and unite all of the islands, but his uncle 'Alapa'inui didn't want that to happen. Because of this, his mother instructed Nae'ole to take him and run far away, in fear of 'Alapa'inui coming to kill him. Years after this, Nae'ole raised young Pai'ea for a good chunk of his life, teaching him basic skills, like fishing. He was given the name Kamehameha, or the Lonly one, by Alapainui. He was then trained by Kekuhaupi'o, who taught him how to become a warrior. He went on to overturn the Naha stone, a 2.5 ton stone, which whoever lifts it would conquer all the islands. Then, Captain Cook shows up with his ships, who we think is Lono with his Floating Islands, makes them give him a lot of food and women for tiny amounts of metal like nails, which we didn't have back then. A lot of people thought they ate Cook, but that is because when they killed him for shooting a chiefs son, they burnt him in an imu, which was associated with cooking. We did this to get his bones, a common practice, which held mana, or power, within them. Now, Kamehameha, the 7 foot 2.5 ton lifting man who can make your girl his 31st wife in an instant won his battles fair and square, Is what we were taught. But while the opposing team was sharpening his spears, his men were loading their guns. Imagine being a warrior against Kamehameha, who has no idea what a gun or a cannon is. All you hear is a log screaming and now your friend has been smited by the gods. Smited? Smitten? Smote? I don't know. He also used the tactic of having your men at the top of a mountain, so when your enemies come up, they will already be tired. He proceeded to then push them off of the mountain. He has a pretty interesting story. Also, no one knows where his bones are hidden, because he ordered the people who hid them to kill themselves immediately after

Okey so hear me out. Polish kings, to be exact the ones from "Piast" dynasty and from "Jagielon" dynasty because later on there are so shenanigans with polish noblemen chosing the king and after his death they just chose another one. But returning to dynasties in the second one there is a female king (from what i remember she was a daughter of a king without male Descendants but for some reason everyone just decided to make her the new king). The history of founding poland is also interesting. Prince Mieszko I did it (he wasn't a king but his son became one in the year he died). Tying in to the empires vanishing it kind of happened to poland. It was one of the most influencial countries in Europe but diseapered for 123 years after Prussia (Germany), Russia and Austria ganged up on it

Ivan the great was the girst russian monarch to turn russia into an empire and swapped the title of russian monarch iver from grand prince to tsar and then his son, very terrible human being, was the girst ruler crowned tsar of the russian empire. Both very interesting historical figures. Same for the last tsar of russia nicholas the 2nd.
