I must have watched this episode ten thousand times today. My family's enslavers lived in Chester county SC (after leaving colonial VA, and then migrated to KY) and I was able to find the loose papers today from 1789! Those documents confirmed relationships for me. Thanks for all you do (and your panel) to help us find our peeps. ❤
This comment is SO valuable to us. We absolutely love to see the fruit of what we've shared. SO excited for you!!!!!!
Waiting for this all day. I was in a meeting but I can watch now. Huge breakthroughs. Horry County Eddy Lake 1700s 1800s early 1900 slave cemetery My aunt found it!! Mishoe Gause McCray Some people knew but didn't tell me. Very underrated.
WOW!!! That's a great find!!!!
This was so informative. I’m learned so much. The most valuable thing was it gave me inspiration to persist trying to find slave info at a point in time when it would be easier for me to just give up.
Thanks for sharing the link in Our Black Ancestry. I'm a new subscriber. Excited to learn and participate.
Welcome Ericka! We've got a lot of content just waiting for you. 110 episodes worth to be exact. So glad you're here!
Congratulations on the grant Black Pro Gen Live (Mrs. Nicka). That's excellent!!
Hey C.R.E.W.! Let us know what you've been able to find in your North and South Carolina research as a result of watching episode 109!
I don’t know my father and my mom didn’t know her parents. It’s impossible for me to find my roots and it sucks.
its not impossible both of you need to get tested on every platform to guide your research good luck in your research
I love this!
Hey Nicka. Ascension Parish, Louisiana 1890 Census is on microfilm at the New Orleans Public Library.
Could you be talking about the 1890 Veterans Census? That exists for the whole state of Louisiana while the population schedules we normally used were destroyed by the fire in the Commerce Department.
What do you do when your last name has been changed? This happened in both of my parent's families. So hard to keep it straight.
I'd use DNA in that instance. What are your matches telling you in terms of repetition of surnames, locations, and family trees? That may be the clue as to who your folks are.

How do you all read their handwriting? Some had a beautiful penmanship and some of it looked like chicken scratch. No real distinction to their letters everything blending in together. Also is it true that even if they didn't have a will, everyone when they passed wilk have probate records?
What I have found thus far has taken me over 100 hours. This is a journey and I'm not done.
Boring!! I can’t!
Be blessed.

@@randomshit757 Come on King don't address this Queen like that. She is doing the work. I have been trying to gain more knowledge about my ancestor's journey and it hasn't been easy. She is providing a platform to educate us on the road map.
She doesn't need me to stand up for her, but I couldn't just pass this comment without sharing my thoughts.
Be blessed!
