LEGO Jumping Stop Motion Tutorial | Nation of Bricks

  • Hey Everyone! I have gotten some requests for a tutorial on how to make your minifigures jump in LEGO Stopmotion. So today I am going to be showing you three different ways to make your characters jump. Thanks for watching and good luck on your future brick films.

    I always prefer the masking method but instead of having the whole rig behind the character, I would just have a singular pole attached to the character, that way I would only have to erase a little bit of a pole rather than having to mask an entire character AND figure out drop shadows using after effects.

    Good ideas here. With the rock technique, you can take a shot of the background then mask out the entire rock

    I just use the glass pieces and make it look like there is nothing there

    I would have blurred edges of the drop shadow to make it look more in line with the previous shadows

    You can do the rock method with clear bricks if you need to I personally do just because my editing app does not have a masking feature

    What I do is take pictures of every angle of the set I am gonna use, put something under the character, and mask the thing under him.

    There is onething you got wrong, the body moves back before hey jump forward, the body does not move forward. Unless they are jumping backwards. It’s anticipation

    There was a Lego stop motion vid that used all practical affects no masking the do car crash and complicated.

    Maybe you could also use Stop Motion Studio Pro or an editing/coloring app and put the background with nothing and then add the character on a brick and then erase the brick so it looks like s/he’s jumping

      The steps for jumping stay the same. What you are filming on doesn’t really matter for this. 👍
