    He just made a time from his busy schedule and had a nice talk with us in our college and I can tell that he is an amazing person and such a great leader !
    He shared us his story from how he started from being just a normal poor village boy to being a Harvard student and now the President!!
    I hope Tibetans get their country back really soon which rightfully belongs to them!
    More power to you Sir 👍

    The reason why British colonized India is the same reason why Chinese have colonized Tibet today:to exploit the local resouces and enrich themselves. It is that much plain and simple.

    • @12ut5
      @12ut5 Před 10 lety +8

      Your comment ignores some important differences. The British did not try to destroy the culture and identity, the very seperate existence of, India. They did not try to make India part of Great Britain. Also, when Britain was giving India back its independence, and all other colonial powers were beginning to do so, China was beginning to colonize Tibet and has continued do so while no one else, to speak of, is doing this sort of thing, any longer. So, you can say, if it's what you are saying, in a way, that China is only doing what Britain and other have done, but it's what they have done 60, 70, 80, 90, or more than 100 years ago and have, since then, all, basically, stopped doing because it was wrong then as it is wrong, now.

    the monasteries acted as universities, and hospitals. Often times, families would send their younger sons to monasteries to protect the integrity of their land. The monasteries had an economical, educational, and social value. As for the theocracy, the Dalai Lama can come from any social status. He is then taught by the best scholars that Tibet can offer. The most educated man in Tibet becomes its leader.

    Tibet was forcibly taken away from the peaceful Tibetans. One can see proof of this from various footages from independent observers available on youtube. The movie "seven years in Tibet" also highlighted this issue.
    China is a nation that has no notion of human rights or coexisting peacefully. The only language it understands is one of force. This is not just about Tibet. Chinese are now slowly getting into Nepal, Bangladesh etc. The seem to be intended on expanding their "repressive" empire. INTERnantional community should unite and stop this menace.

However, I also hope that you don't settle for the current manifestation of China. I hope that you will bring shame upon those who need to be shamed, and bring forward the leaders who will change your country for the better. tibetans are the savers of world,its sacred land for indians and a living place for tibetans,china should leave tibet and go to were it belongs, China should give respect to tibet like what india gives and make it a independent nation. We should have big hearts,tall stature to accept and accomodate good peaceful ppl and give what it belongs to them. that doing will be seen as china is not a rogue nation, but a responsible nation and it grows respect towards it.

    The repressive regimes in the past (including British colonials) have always used this argument that we have done something good, so our rule is legitimate. British actually told that they had a duty to improve the lot of the Indians as they were living in poverty and by 1947 when British left, India was in much greater poverty.
    The best thing China can do is to walk away from Tibet. They have no right over a people they do not understand and respect.

    Tibetans do not hate China or the Chinese people but many do hate the Chinese Communist Party & Chinese colonial rule over Tibet. The CCP has oppressed Tibetans for the past 60 years. If your country was invaded by a foreign power, you would also develop strong opinions. But the Dalai Lama always preaches compassion, even to your enemies. We just want our freedom. Isn't that what all people want?

    I think modifications is necessary in China's handling of its own people, and its minority nations. and I am glad, that I have been able to made you consider modification. The biggest crime you can ever do against your own nation is calling it perfect. rather than defending, covering, and hiding its mistakes. you need to broadcast the mistakes, shame the politicians, and push for change.

    When Khampas and Amdos came to Lhasa, after they lost everything. Lhasa became nervous. And the idea of partnership became nullified. So, hordes of Tibetans escaped. The policy the Tibetan government in exile holds, is a partnership. not independence. so, your government can talk to dalai lama and reach an agreement.

    if you still believe that China has a right over the minority nation, then I also hope that you would open your eyes to conditions of the minorities, and fight on their behalf. instead of saying they are lucky, and they don't know how to be grateful to all that China has given them, I hope you open your eyes to their plea. At the end of the day, they are minorities, and part of being minority means your voice is often times drowned by the majority.

    not sidetracking. it is an example of China's complete disregard for living things. A country that distraught won't be able to respect the natural resources of Tibet. I am saying China is unfit for Tibet. It will turn it into a reflection of itself, and destroy Asia's main water source. It is a very important discussion. Global warming is a very relevant discussion, and integral in the current debate. water is indispensable for all, and for Tibetans, its natural resources is important.

    I made my comments because I traveled to Tibet before and know how people live there. I believe there is always some misunderstanding between Han and Tibetan but it is not that severe that people tried to burn themselves. Most self-immolated people are monks or former monks so I would rather feel shame that the senior monks brainwash the young people for their political purpose...

    When cultural revolution was happening, China did realize that Tibet was very different from their own country. They realized that the method they used to over-throw the nobles in China, couldn't be implemented in Tibet. As theocracy, and monastic culture is so deep-rooted. They had a separate policy(in my opinion, smart move). However, that dual-policy was not extended to Kham and Amdo.

  • @blahblaheeh10
    @blahblaheeh10 Před 11 lety +3

    history could have been very different, if Kham and Amdo weren't so brutally treated. Otherwise, Mao's policy towards Lhasa was not atrocious. The lhasa people were obviously mistreated by the army, but not to the extent that a partnership between China and Tibet couldn't be possible.

Chairman Mao, built to conquer the Tibet's territories back then... Should we be feel grateful for Chinese to build these concrete building by exploiting our own resources.. Our resources were used to built everything that you see in TAR.. So, it's absurdity to feel through that way... Chinese are not doing anything favour for us now and then... Tibet is part of China. More autonomy for Tibet is tantamount to separating Tibet from China. We will never allow it. No matter how the Dalai Lama try to put pressure on us, the Chinese people will always support our government on the Tibetan issue. Tibetans can accept this reality and get on with creating a better life for themselves, or they can continue this counter-productive confrontation. We are ready to carry on the effort to fully integrate Tibet into China, no matter how long it takes.

    I don't ignore the economic prosperity. However, you also cannot deny that majority of the people benefiting from this economic prosperity are Chinese. You also cannot deny that most of the government officials are Chinese. Therefore, you also cannot deny that the reasons I stated above are enough to cause severe resentment. Being treated as a minority in your own nation is absolutely unfair.

      kerry wangnao tibet was occupied in 1945, he was elected around 2010s, you dumb ? And the reason of our land getting occupied shows that China is the dirtiest country with no morality. Tibet is not a country of armies and soldier like we are ready for a war. Tibet is a place of wisdom and compassion. Sole place of Buddhism, Chinese distroyed 90 percent of the monasteries and killed millions of monks. You still think it’s Tibet’s fault? Tibet trusted China as a friend. And then they took over it, along with other countries, now they are almost having a war with India, coz China are trying to take over indochinese border area, claiming it’s theirs. So you should know all these facts before u say something.🤍
