I think they should have classes like this starting from kindergarten, that’s when kids pick up on language skills the fastest. The kids can go home and teach their family or their neighbors or anyone they know and it passes the message on that ASL is a normal form of communication. This is a step in the right direction.

For real , when I was little the doc thought I was gonna be dead by time I was 5 (I'm not) but I learned and went to classes when I was super little and being in preschool I used to sign to other kids in class thinking it was normal entell I taught everyone a little bit in the class and I remember several of them said they taught some to there family like seriously like what !!! I wish more people learn it so they can communicate more !
(My parents drop me out the class once I was 7 cause i didn't need it ...now I bearly know any but I'm trying to relearn).
It something that should be more normalized/ accepting

Can't help but comment again. This is such a needed language (I have deaf friends) in this time. Small things have changed since i was in college. I wish this was a choice when i was in (this same jchs) high school. It took 1 class a week in college & once a week at Danville school for the deaf to learn the basics. My daughter has surpassed me & teaches me because I want to know.
She now wants to know interpretation for the dead language. This wonderful teacher is a great inspiration to this generation of students.
God Bless MS. Fowler. For Her hard work to inspire this generation.
Thank you MS Fowler. U R Awesome
