how many bands that have lasted for 40 years can put out an album with tracks that stand up against anything they've done before? I can't think of anyone other than Iron Maiden. Best. Band. Ever.

Maiden has not had a masterpiece since brave new world... and in my opinion their only other true masterpiece is Somehwere in time.

Dave Murray is well known for his Jimi Hendrix Influence, he heared voodoo chile when he was a teenager and fell in love with that sound, you can hear the legato style in almost all of Iron maiden songs, when dave Murray does his leads, basicly all are blues solos. but played at an higher speed, Dave never playes the same solo, instead uses the key parts of his solos as a guideline ,makes it interesting for him and the audiance,
Murray auditioned for Iron Maiden in late 1976, eager to get back into "a more sort of heavy rock-type vibe". At the time the band already had two guitarists, Dave Sullivan and Terry Rance, who disapproved of Murray being permitted to audition,The group's founder and bassist Steve Harris did not hesitate to choose Murray over Sullivan and Rance, later stating: "When the others made it plain that it was either them or Dave Murray, there was no choice. There was no way I was gonna let Dave go. Not only was he a nice bloke, he was just the best guitarist I'd ever worked with. He still is. Unfortunately, after only a few months in the band, Murray was sacked following an argument with then vocalist Dennis Wilcock. he joined Urchin Adrian smith his band and spent six months in Smith's band, Urchin. In the spring of 1978, following Wilcock's departure, Murray was asked to rejoin Iron Maiden, in which he has remained to this day.
Adrain Smith lived in the same town as Dave Murray, became friends after Adrian bought Deep Purples machine head album and started a band with Murray, with Adrian on vocals but switched to guitar After seeing the attention Murray received from girls. he started with an old Spanish guitar once owned by his brother, before purchasing an old one of Murray's for £5, Adrian his influences are Jonny Winter and Pat travers making him more of a melodic player then a shredder, on top of that he learns his solos. making sure he plays them very different then dave does it, creating a nice contrast between them, Smith left the band in 1989 after an solo project called ASAP (Adrian SmithAnd Project) Unhappy with the direction the band were taking for their next release, No Prayer for the Dying, and feeling that he could not help enough in the creative work, Smith agreed to leave Iron Maiden in 1990, he did pen down one last song with Dickinson for Maiden Before he left called hooks in you
Janick Gers (the dancer), started out in a heavy metal band called white spirit, in 1980, in 1981 he joined Ian Gillan (former deep Purple singer) his band called Gillan, that band folded in 1982, Gers then undertook a Humanities degree before joining Gogmagog, which included former Iron Maiden vocalist Paul Di'Anno and drummer Clive Burr. The project came to nothing, however, Gers went on to play guitar for former Marillion vocalist Fish on his first solo album, Vigil in a Wilderness of Mirrors, Then Gers was asked to play to record a song called "Bring Your Daughter... to the Slaughter" with Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson for a soundtrack. The project expanded into an album, Tattooed Millionaire, and during its recording Gers was asked to join Iron Maiden in place of Adrian Smith. Gers is heavily Influenced by Rory Gallagher Jeff Beck and Ritchie Blackmore, even copied some of Blackmores moves on stage, likes to swing and throw his guitar around on stage, and has an heavy stage pressence, His solos are Raw fast and wild, And you can hear the Blackmore influence in alot of his solos.

  • @marciusnhasty
    @marciusnhasty Před 4 lety +36

Adrian Smith, one of the lead guitars, left the bend at one point. They found a replacement in Gers. When he returned, Gers did not leave. Murray played as one of two leads with both of them. So they just adjusted to having three lead guitars and kept going. Think of the bassist Steve Harris as being kind of a "Tuomas of Iron Maiden". And you got it right - if you listen them for long enough, you learn to recognize exactly which of those three is doing which solo even in any new song.

nicko mcbrain-drums, steve harris-bass, bruce-singer, dave murray-guitar usually stands on the left side of the stage, janick gers-guitar long blond hair usually stands on the right side of the stage and jumps around a lot and adrian smith-guitar always wears the headband and stands kinda in the middle right

All 3 guitarists are awesome players but I've always liked Adrian's tone more than Daves .... Janick just has a mid range tone that splits the other two, Steve's bass however just compliments all 3 of them and nicos drumming fits in a very tongue in cheek way.
Bruce has a stellar voice but knows how to let the band showcase all of their skills.

    Bruce Dickinson - Vocalist
Steve Harris - Bass guitar (Founding member)
Dave Murray - The one with the brownish yellow guitar and smiles a lot
Adrian Smith - The one wearing the Bandana and light blue jeans
Janick Gers - The one who skips around alot
    Nicko McBrain - Drummer
You need to react to Empire of the Clouds.

You don't know this but Nicko Mcbrain (drummer) still plays with his mates as a giggle with Iron Maiden songs! yes he does and he's allowed, must remember that Iron maiden don't even announce their tours on radio or tv just on their site! No promotions 0 promotions just word by mouth...if your good your real good.

Iron maiden. Eternal metal high value. Up the irons. I do not expect a reaction but since you love metal I will give one title each time of a group (I think) you do not know about. I start with Myrath "Born to survive".

@@osamaqtaitat Yes, I have listened to all the albums they have put out since they got back together in 2000 with Bruce and though they have put out some great songs, I am not crazy about their albums in their entirety. I am not saying they are bad but I am not a fan of the more progressive direction they took.
