My favourite bird call nemonic device is the “Who Cooks for You” call from Barred Owls. I heard it for the first time with my dad and we both started jumping with excitement since previously we had only heard it on audio recordings!
That’s a good one!
cheeeeese burger!! it's my absolute favorite. can't wait to listen for the call this spring.
You won’t have to wait too long!
Part 2 is out now!
Still waiting for the second part.
@@vernonfridy8416 Hopefully next week!
@@vernonfridy8416 It's out now!
1:01:05 It's easier to miss Sandhill Crane than you might think! It was my 328th life list species, and even then I got lucky when they flew over my apartment in Vermont.
Interesting! They are definitely harder to find in some places than others.
Looking forward to part two. Just getting into watching your videos and enjoying them! Not sure where I fit on this spectrum of bird people, though. I love birds but rarely got out looking for them, except on my own property. For me, the challenge is to get them to come to me.
Glad you're enjoying the videos! I think a lot of people are a mix of the different categories and do things or know about things from each
Ryan's comment about that being the last time "because that bird will eat you" definitely got me laughing. Can't wait for part 2!
Haha, I think part 2 is even more interesting!
SoundID is one of my favorite features. So useful!
"the big year" got me into birding and I watch it all the time still lol
Same here! 😂
Great as always
Thanks, guys! Looking forward to Pt. 2. :-)
You’re welcome!
Fantastic video! So much fun to watch 🤗
Glad you enjoyed it! Part 2 is even crazier
Wingsandbeaks here.@ Badgerland ~ Am here fresh from watching Stefano’s videos for the first time, including the challenge he threw out to you and your friend to find some wonderful birds. Forty + years of backyard birding has taken a huge leap forward seeing your channel and others’ for the first time. I’m from North Central Oklahoma and see so much of what Stefano has seen around his ponds. Can’t wait to discover what you and your friends have to offer.
Great video😊
Really enjoyed this video and learned a lot.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Quick! Three-beers!
when I talk about trying to see my first roadrunner this year and people ask "are they blue"? 🤦♂️
If they fall in Blue paint they are.
Could you guys make a video on owling and just finding owls in general it would be verrrry helpful
We made a video about looking for Barred Owls, but Owling can be tricky because some people oppose using playback and stuff like that. We’ll see what we can do! Here’s the Barred Owl video: czcams.com/video/iwZvKadzNWs/video.html
Soon after I began to notice birds someone told me that birding is a disease where the symptoms get increasingly worse. Its hard to say where I place in this ice burg. I haven't done several items on the Bird enthusiast level. I have done some things as far down as Birding group Admin.
We hear that the birding disease is incurable
As an animal enthusiast I kind of skipped to the ivory bill woodpecker without going through the binocular phase of my life 😂 great video brothers! I really enjoyed it
Oh yes the Bald Eagle I get alot but the one that got me was "you gotta look out for the darter birds." hmmm
Interesting! The Anhingas?
I have only seen one Species of owl and that was the Western Screech Owl. I want to see more!!
You can do it!
Thanks! Great concept guys, learned a lot. Can’t believe you didn’t mention the Portlandia gag “put a bird on it!” during your arts/craft/culture segment. + No mention of the Academy’s Best Picture of 2015? Shame! Greetings from Beloit, backyard birding paradise.
I think I literally laughed out loud when the first thing I read on that list was "choriole" friggin love that bird
How can anyone not love the “Choriole” 😂
I love this a lot and can relate to a ton of things on this list. I would love to hear your thoughts on subspecies and chasing/adding these to your life list, as some subspecies are rare. Example I found a Ipswitch sparrow( which is a sub species of Savannah Sparrow) In Virginia last week which is incredibly rare and the people actually sent me a letter from ebird thanking me for reporting the sub species due to they are threatened and they are studying there movements closely.
My first of the year bird was the mallard. I expected a house sparrow, but we have a pond in our backyard where we can see mallards out our window.
I'd take a Mallard over a House Sparrow as a first of year bird!
Awesome video guys, and thanks for the movie didn’t know about it, and maybe you seen it already if not you should check out, twitchers a British obsession here on CZcams good documentary
We’ll have to check it out! Thanks for the recommendation 👍
would be nice to see more of these podcast like format with you guys.
We used to do more but nobody seemed to watch them lol
@@BadgerlandBirding sad, I really like it. Maybe just as a real podcast format on Spotify? Anyways, I like to watch you guys good job :)
Wingsandbeaks here ~ Where is the gentleman in the upper left from in Oklahoma. Ponca City is home for us.
He goes to school in Stillwatwr
I don't know if anyone else has ever done this, but how about matching the scrolling bird list at the end of "The Big Year" to the pictures of those birds? If you do it you'll find they don't actually match up all the birds, they just use a lot of pictures of the same species.
I love iceberg videos and birding, so this video is a dream come true.
Is there a download link for the birding iceberg image?
Great! Not right now but I will make one and put it in the description!
@@BadgerlandBirding Thank you! I'll definitely share it (and the video) with friends 😄

Pin-tailed and jack snipe: I am a joke to you???
👍🇬🇧Steve
👍👍
Yeah my kid isnt here, so her murder she feeds was complaining the whole time I was out birding today. I only realized this after I got back and they were all waiting for me and screaming, in the place where we feed the horses. Kind of intimidating LOL. Come to think of it I better go give them their snack right now LOL
Gulling is easy when you first start birding, then when you think about it more it becomes difficult, then you learn the common species and it becomes easy again, and then you go gulling a lot and realize you actually know nothing
This is an accurate statement lol
See, even Starling introduction was due to Shakespeare... another thing I have against him 🤣
Didn’t realize you were a Shakespeare hater 😂
@@BadgerlandBirding most assuredly! I think most people in high school these days are 🤣
