- All I bought was a shift bushing repair kit for $15.00 at AutoZone. Took me less than 5 minutes to fix it. Use orange clips , easier, faster.

Stuck in Home Depot parking lot. While waiting for the tow truck found this video online. Was able to put the cable on temporarily to get to the parts store. Cancelled the tow truck and fixed the problem. Thanks
Damn terrible situation, but I’m glad I was able to help . Thanks for watching👍🏽
Mechanic was asking for 300 dollars. With this video I saved that money instead. Thanks for the help.
CarlosWasHereXD you’re welcome bro , glad I was able to help you out on the issue , and saving $300 specially right before the holidays 👍🏽
Well, I can't thank you enough! My son had this happen to him while at a friends house 150 miles away. I sent him the link to your video and talked him through it while on speaker phone (he's not very mechanically savvy...lol). Worked fantastic! We really appreciate you taking the time making this video. Helped out a ton.
Hi jerry , you’re very welcome. Good thing it happen in a friends house and not on the road. I my self not a mechanic either but I did my research 😂 and decided to show and help others because I bet there’s many mechanics that’ll charge 100’s and say they did the impossible. Glad it worked out for him and that he’s home safe . Thanks for watching and HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY 🙏🏽
I DO RECOMMEND TO BUY AN EXTRA KIT , AND HAVE IT IN YOUR GLOVE BOX . JUST IN CASE . MINE IS STILL HOLDING ON STRONG ...THANKS FOR WATCHING EVERYBODY...👍🏽👍🏽
Thank you so much for this informative tutorial. It was a simple as you said and im sure i saved a lot of $$$$$
Thanks man for your video I was stuck on the farm and was stranded way back in the woods but your video I was able to get the hell out of there and I wasn't stranded .....thank you so much. You helped me a whole lot brother!!!!👊🍻
Shalanda Conley you’re welcome, as being a DIY job we did save lots of money on this. Mechanics would’ve said it was your transmission or something😒
Brandon Hackworth you’re welcome bro, stranded in farm don’t sound good , thanks for watching. Zip ties, lug nut and bolt 🔩 will work temporary to get you out this situation.
MrZACATECANO100 use a coat hanger if ya got too ! 😂
You just saved me!!! About 3 hours ago this happened to me and I bitched out and panicked. I typed my problem into Google and your video popped up, I took it to auto zone, bought the peace for $15.41 and then fixed it myself (I'm so proud) A MILLION THANX!!!
Luciana Flores I'm glad you found my video helpful, and you're welcome.
Great video. I saw a few others, and this one worked. I was where my trans was still in drive, shifter was in park, and key was turned off. So shifter was stuck, and vehicle wouldnt turn on. I panicked ($), but this video really helped. Thanks.
B Parsons Glad it helped , thanks for watching..
I thought it was my transmission but after watching your video I know the truth AWESOME VIDEO BRO😁👍🏾👍🏾💯
Thanks fellow 2002 TB owner. You led me down the right path. Kudos!
dfw360 you're welcome , thanks for watching.
Thanks so much! I was afraid something serious had happened to my 02 TrailBlazer. A thousand thank you’s
You’re welcome bro, glad it all worked out .👍🏽 thanks for watching
Thanks for the video, it was the best one I could find on CZcams for showing how to install the orange bushings for my 05 Trailblazer. I had tried this on an 03 Envoy years ago and butchered the cable and had to replace the whole thing. This was definitely easier, though still not real easy since I couldn't jack the vehicle up (long story). I finally got a medium size pair of vise grips to squeeze the bushings together, though I never did hear a definite "snap", which makes me nervous. We'll see if it holds, so far so good. Really hot day here today, so it kind of "smushed" instead of "snapped". I wonder if I shouldn't have refrigerated the bushings overnight, lol. Who knows, it might have helped. I would have felt better about it if it snapped.
Cliff McCormack You’re welcome. I would be haunted if I didn’t hear it snapped. Make sure to have a extra one in glove box . Even a bolt screw and nut
will work.
Thanks. quick and thorough.
this was exactly my problem and fixed it with a hair elastic to get the part to put on for the permanent fix. Thanks bud!
Jerry Paradis you're welcome, glad it worked out.
Thanks so much man, my mom's freaked out haha. Glad you helped me help her save a possible high repair cost mechanics was talking about 150-200
Yaji G you’re welcome , thanks for watching.👍🏽
2 things: #1 Great Video #2 You're a heck of a lot skinnier than I am, jacked my truck up a foot :)
Radon 64 thanks, I was able to manage the beer belly through😂👍🏽
you're a lifesaver man, I didnt try this kit since it was late where it broke with me, and no one could help, what i did is use a wire to attach them together so that i could move it to the mechanic
PeaceNimer Glad ,you got it to work temporarily. Good luck 🍀
One comment to add, on 2006 model, the engine would still work normally, but other symptoms are the same. and I think that the bushing are different, smaller ones maybe for the 2006.
You just saved me from at least: a tow ($100), parts from a mechanic (who knows but probably $100), and labor ($200-$300) to fix what I just did in 5 minutes and for $15.14 including tax. GREAT VIDEO!!!!!
Chris Niesluchowski you're welcome glad i helped .last day I was thinking of having an Extra one on the trailblazer just in case it happens again and there's no auto parts store near by.
Thanks for taking the time to post this video. You saved us a repair bill.
You’re welcome brother👍🏽 Great I figured it all out as well or I would’ve been lied by mechanics and wasted hundreds of dollars as well. Thank you for watching and stay safe.🙏🏽
Thank you! This was my exact problem and your video saved me a from a big headache and I’m sure a lot of money! 👍🏻👍🏻
Gene G You’re welcome, we sure did saved some money , mechanics would’ve said it’s the transmission 🧐
I completed this repair on my wife's 2002 Trailblazer LTZ 5 years ago July. It just went out again. Waiting for the online order. Supposed to be here yesterday. Still not here today. I could of went to the parts store by now. The shifter is in park, the transmission reads reverse on the dash. I don't remember where it was 5 years ago. It was an easy fix. If you were going to keep the vehicle a longer than 5 years, one plan is an extra in the glove box, what would be another plan besides 2 in the glove box. I have ordered another one. The engine is so good that I use it to haul materials around the property. A rat decided he liked the chicken food I was hauling. I finally got rid of him. The back wind screen is all busted. Having a hard time finding a replacement.
Thank you much for the video it helped me a lot I was stuck for almost an hour till I found your video thanks again.
Ganzo029 your very welcome , glad it was useful. Thanks for watching.

Thank you for this video saved my life. I actually went to AutoZone myself and purchased part and also put it on by myself. Thank you!!
You’re welcome , glad video helped you resolve the problem. My respects to you on fixing it your self.👍🏼
I just have one problem though. It keeps coming off when I park it does it mean I need a new one or that the orange pieces don't fit and I need to use the clear ones
Delores Featherstone make sure when you put together it snaps in place ,may need to use some pliers to completely clip in place .lmk
You know what I think my orange ones are different from yours mine. Is dorsman 14057 they are different in sizes your are fatter
Just bought it and it works perfectly. I also add liquid nails to keep thing in place lol
Glad it worked out for you . Lol thanks for watching.
thanks this really is a easy fix. I had someone trying to charge me 50 bucks just to do that. when that is most definitely a DIY JOB! 👍👍

Rose Castillo try this first if it works you can take the cable back I assume. Good luck 🍀
@@MrZACATECANO100 thanks I was dreading having to take the inside apart to replace cable. I really hope it's this simple fix
Rose Castillo hopefully it’s easy.

Hey thank you. You saved me alot. Well Taught
You’re welcome, thanks for watching.
Thank you so much for your video!! saved us... we did add a bit of gorilla glue.
Hi....I actually had a question about something else. My 03 TB has a light rattle coming from the left rear tire. Doesn't make it when I break or when I start the car. Seems to come and go and different speeds. Any ideas of what it could be? Thanks in advance. You seem to be the only one who has been spot on about my car!
You just saved me...thanks man!
Mick Gonzalez my pleasure, glad it worked for you..and you’re welcome
thanks for your help man . Nice video .
Grey Wolf Alpha You're welcome, thanks.
The orange ones didn't seem to want to lock in for me. Went back for the Dorman 14055 pushed the clear piece in with the help of a screwdriver onto the linkage cable. This time it actually snapped on to the shift lever stud.
RandomThoughts I used the channel locks to snap it in place. But thanks for the heads up in case someone has trouble with the orange ones.
GR8 Help ... Going to try it now ... I hope it work ,,, Will Update... Thanks Mate.
LUQMAN SAEED you’re welcome , did it work?
Did it work?

You’re welcome,
Muchas gracias! Me salvaste por que me quede en la playa y de noche!
De nada , me alegro que mi vídeo te pudo ayudar en un momento difícil. Te recomiendo y tengas uno extra en la guantera por si vuelve a pasar en el futuro . Saludos 👍🏽

Muse Ali Glad I was able to help you.
Good looks on the video🔥🔥🔥
You’re welcome 👍🏽
yea! thanks for the video. my 02 Trailblazer is still going all because of youtube!
DA Lawman you’re welcome 👍🏽Glad it worked out👍🏽
Sorry, I posted this on the wrong video. But bushing may be the answer to my problem since replaced solenoid and it still doesn't work.
Ok, here's what I did, took the transmission "lever " off, 15mm nut, ground the rivot pin off, took an 1 1/4 quarter twenty hexhead, welded that on then used two nuts to lock into place, took one hour cost 10$, and is a better solution then original manufacturer. Do this
OMG-Thank you
Great video, it's crazy though. The Advanced auto store say's that this is the right kit (Dorman 14057)for a 2005 trailblazer. I've also seen some videos that says (14055) it is the right one. I'm gonna try the orange one.
sterling mcgee Thanks, and Good luck .
I put it on today, it's working fine. I'm gonna pick up a spare kit just as you said.
sterling mcgee nice to hear it worked out. Great gotta be prepared.👍🏽 I sold my TB to my brother and still orange bushings are holding on👍🏽
Grasias amigo tu video. Pude solusionar mi problema
De nada amigo, recomiendo tener uno extra en la guantera. Hasta el momento no a fallado ya la camioneta se la vendí Ami hermano.
Live saver! I for real thought I fuck my gears permanently
Fabian Arellano 👍🏽Glad it was a quick and cheap fix. Thanks for watching.
You da' man! and I'm the hero (for the moment). Thanks..
Buddy Cook can I be both?😂 Glad you fix the problem 👍🏽 thanks for watching.
Well.. the orange bushing popped off the next day. Found the correct bushing for my 07 TB SS which was Dorman 14073. This bushing fits loosely in the cable end, snaps on to the pin snugly, and has a metal retainer clip to keep the cable end place. Thanks again for identifying the problem!
Buddy Cook mine is still in place ,thanks I will look for it next time I need it👍🏽
Great video I have a question once I made the reconnection I now have a new issue. I can now put the car in gear but when I try to put it back in park again the hand shifter is loose again and I have to get back under the truck to manually put it back in park with my hand and this allows the process to repeat itself. I can pull the shifter in gear but it's no tension/retraction for it to go back to park. Is there a way to tighten the linkage cable that's what I need to know. Your help would be greatly appreciated bud thanks 👍😎👌
Hi there, but does bushing kit disconnects as well?
This was a great video! Advanced Auto had the part and if you purchase online you can get 20% off online order with store pickup. I have a 2004 Trailblazer: my part was Dorman: Part 14057.
Shirley Coffie thanks for watching .
Saved my life o g.
I’m glad it helped you out 👍🏽 thank you for watching.
What if the cable seems to be too long to fit back
Grab Transmissions metal shift handle where the cable attaches to and pull it back or forwards to get it closer to the cable hole. Make sure you put the hand brake first for your safety.
thanks bro for the vid!!!
Stan Jackson No problem bro, glad it helped you .
Good looking out
Oscar Ontiveros no problem bro👍🏽
Any tips on getting the old bushing out. Mine is pretty stuck.
Tar Heel Speighty try a small flat screwdriver. Carefully without damaging the shift cable.
Just fixed mine.👍
Great, glad you did 👍🏽 thanks for watching.
10/10 this worked :)
Glad it worked out for you.
Replaced the fuse and it shifted fine about three times. Then fuse blew. Does it need a new shiftlock solenoid? Any other part that might need to be replaced along with solenoid? Many thanks for your help.
Marsha Butler If your vehicle is stuck in park this is problably the solution , or it could be the shiftting cable..but if you see the shift cable loose like mine , then it's the bushing kit you need 100%. Best of luck.
jay Smith the orange one yes you need both .clear white 1 but for some reason I was having a hard time having it to clip in place.
Many thanks. I read something about a shift lock control SWITCH but couldn't find any definitive info on what it is or has to do with fixing the problem
Marsha Butler try searching on google in images to see where location is and how it looks.
Did that. Can't find it. It was just mentioned in a comment re "shift lock system." Nobody else is talking about it, so I guess I'll try to bushings first (cheaper) and if that doesn't work I'll spring for a new solenoid ($60-90). We tried several from salvage but they were all bad too. Gotta love the Chevy Trailblazer. Worst vehicle I ever had. Pulls like a bull and is comfy to drive/ride in but it's a pain in the rear end to keep repaired. Thanks for your help!
Yo thank you for this
You’re welcome buddy, thanks for watching 👍🏽
Hi! You helped with my ignition switch before...I'm hoping you can help me with this. My '03 tb engine oil life said 6%...I know..its bad. I filled it up but it still says 6%.....Google says I need to reset it....how? Help! Thanks!
Luciana Flores check my video of how to reset oil life percentage

Is this a permanent solution? What are the clear pieces for? I'm currently trying to fix mine.
It’s a permanent fix until it breaks off like the original one. Clear ones didn’t work for me so orange ones were easier.
Hey, I'm just wondering if this "quick fix" lasted longer than a few days weeks or months because the intructions say that the orange bushing is for Ford transmission cables and this is a GM application. This is a great idea, I just don't wanna have to do it twice. THX
Matthew Whitner Hello, I know it says orange is for ford, but mine still up and running . As long as you make sure it clips in place it shouldn't fall off .Obviously it will in the future from all the heat underneath the vehicle and shifting just like the one from dealership did.it should last you quite a while just don't know if longer than original one from the dealer .
jay Smith part number # 14057 is the one I bought ,use the two orange ones they are easier 5 minutes and your done. The clear ones were a pain wouldn't clip in place and tried for over 2hrs since it said for GM .
Matthew Whitner literally will not last more than a couple of weeks, you're better off drilling and putting a cotter pin through the whole damn thing... I did this, lasted one day
The- potato-warrior Mine is still in place👍🏽
Anyone know how to move the parts so the hole lines up? The top hole is about a inch off. I did not want to force anything yet
Easy to pull shift cable so holes can meet up. Emergency brake is a must for this.
I just came across this problem with my 2005 chevy trailblazer I went and bought this kit but I am having problems getting the first orange piece onto the cable. Did you use any kind of lubricants to help?
JimmyCtv no not at all. Does it go thru at all?
MrZACATECANO100 No I cant even get the piece halfway through there. Mine is a 2005 chevy trailblazer 2 wheel drive and I bought this same exact kit. I will try again in the daylight
JimmyCtv part #14057?
MrZACATECANO100 yeah its that same exact part I went and got it from Auto Zone like you said.
JimmyCtv maybe hole is worn out . If that don’t work, you can put bolt and nut.
Easy fix I did it in under 5 mins
👍🏽 thanks for watching
Naw thank you. I couldn't find any other videos about it and it broke 30 mins before I had to be at work. I was late but I fixed it so I could get there. Thanks again
Robert Big P Zoe Johnson you’re welcome bro , Recommend having an extra on glove compartment just to be safe. I sold truck to my brother and it’s still holding up no problem.
Thanks man ur a fuckin life saver car just got suck in the road and this was it
Accidentally shut off my 2009 Envoy in reverse and now the shifter button won't push in. Can't shift out of reverse?
Rick Ford go under the truck and manually pull shift to park , make sure you put hand brake for safety.
MrZACATECANO100 you're the man, thanks! About to install the kit now👍
Rick Ford your welcome bro , glad I was able to help.
@@MrZACATECANO100 worked like a charm, still shifting great
Rick Ford glad to hear bro. TB great reliable suv 👍🏽
Good vid
li fe thanks
Another problem is that the nuetral safett switch is messed up
my sister accidentally turned off the car while it was on reverse what do I do ?
Alejandro Rebollar go under the truck and move the shift arm where I put the first piece with your hand, but make sure you pull it to parking position.
Apply hand brake first
MrZACATECANO100 okay I will try that thanks
Alejandro Rebollar let me know if it worked.
@@MrZACATECANO100 same thing happened to me. So you can force that shifter bit that's under the truck. ?You can move it in to a possision where the holes line up?
Drilled mine out put a bolt in it
Any updates to your bolt job?
don't use these cheap and cheesy orange crap! It won't last but for a few days!
