red tea 紅茶is primarily oxidized through a bruising/rolling process, such as lapsang souchong and jinjunmei - but is commonly referred to as black tea by westerners black tea / dark tea / 黑茶 typically refers to tea that is already or intended to be microbially fermented, like fu zhuan cha or liu bao that is my rough understanding of their categorical distinctions
