In the difficult times in which we live, it is heartening to hear the voice of one who buoyed up British morale when all seemed nearly lost in World War II. Ms Lynn and her confident voice is a tonic for any time of distress.
I'm a 17 year old high school student and Vera Lynn is easily my favorite singer. She was and is such a profound symbol of hope, grace, and kindness. I'm sitting in class, fighting tears just from her powerful and emotional voice. She is such an incredible human being and she deserves a state funeral. Much love to Dame Vera Lynn.
I’m 17 year old too, I am Brazilian! I love Vera Lynn, her voice and all songs! For me her version of all music is better than the originals, her version for “My Way” and “Let me try again” is better than Frank Sinatra. I like Doris Day, Bing Crosby and Frank, but Vera is the number one in my heart! Her version from “What a wonderful world” is very amazing too!
Thank you Vera, for all your lovely songs during decades. You have been a wonderful lady and for me a big symbol of England, which I love as much as you! Sleep well! I'll miss you!
Another great star at the right place and times to add some hope in those difficult war years and beyond. In 2020 at age 82, I am playing her songs on my keyboard and thinking back to my childhood years sitting under the big oak dinning table during the air raids. A lovely lady always. 🇬🇧🎼🤗
My Dad was off to WW II and thank God for Vera Lynn. I still have tearsin my eyes every time I hear her vioice, I met her twice and couldn't say a word. From an old 84 year old Canadian Veteran.. THANKS DAME VERA...Bob LITTLE
she passed away two days ago ... just at a time when almost everyone was beginning to remember her. We will see her again someday, we will not know when, we will not know where, but we will see her on the other side on a sunny day.
Oh how we still love you Dame Vera. Aged 103 now. I love you now. My Grandma sang me all her songs, many many years ago. I have a new addition to my family and he’s now 16 months old. When I have him 2 days a week he only goes to sleep to We’ll meet again!! It takes him about 2 minutes. How’s that for continuing the Dame Vera fan club. Wonderful LADY.
18/06/2020 13 mins ago - Dame Vera Lynn, whose song We'll Meet Again became an anthem of hope and resilience during the second world war, has died aged 103 Auf Wiederseh`n Sweetheart
Dame Vera Margaret Lynn CH DBE (née Welch; 20 March 1917 - 18 June 2020) was a British singer, songwriter and entertainer whose musical recordings and performances were largely popular during the Second World War. The songs most associated with her are "We'll Meet Again", "The White Cliffs of Dover", "A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square" and "There'll Always Be an England". Lynn died on 18 June 2020 at her home in East Sussex at the age of 103. Rest in peace. What a beautiful voice.
These are most beautiful songs sung by Vera Lynn. What a voice god has given her. She sang so many lovely songs for decades. She must have big audience listening to her in Heaven. God bless her.
DARLING DAME VERA LYNN YOU JUST DO NOT AGE ! YOU ARE LIFE ITSELF and I LOVE YOU! ❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️ I am in my 50’s and I LOVE WHAT YOU REPRESENT & THAT IS YOU REPRESENT “ LIFE “ XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹🌹
Promotes a lot of nostalgia and regret that humankind has not yet learnt that life can be beautiful if only we could try. And I was born right after the war but through my mother I participated in what had taken place!
she passed away two days ago ... just at a time when almost everyone was beginning to remember her. We will see her again someday, we will not know when, we will not know where, but we will see her on the other side on a sunny day.
Seriously, the dear voice was singing when Elizabeth Q. was still a child.......... I know, she was an entertainer, earning a living, but she and her wonderful voice represented such a huge hunk of British (world) hope and faith..........The Brits really took it on the nose WWII............I love her.
BEAUTIFUL.!!! I love her voice and songs and always will!! Damn, I was only born in 1946 and knew nothing of the struggles London had to face. Sir Winston carried the fight and Vera was close second fighting this horrible war. Thank you ... beautiful video.
I lived all through WW11, and can remember much of it from 1943 on. As an American kid, I had never heard of Vera Lynn until many years later when I was an adult. What a fabulous lady she was then, and still is. She helped the British people get through some really, really bad times, and all freedom loving people should salute her for her dedication and courage. But even as a little kid, I heard my folks playing their radio, and often there was a woman singing my favorite WW11 song: THE WHITE CLIFFS OF DOVER. I don't know if it was Vera Lynn or Kate Smith singing, but I can still, to this day, remember it being sung. That song is my most vivid recollection of those long gone, wonderful AND terrible days. God Bless you, Dame Vera: There'll never be another like you (although Katherine Jenkins comes pretty close). I'm not familiar with British award medals, but isn't Dame Vera wearing THE VICTORIA CROSS? Perhaps one of you Brits can clarify this for me.
As aan raised in England during WW2 I understand your father I went with him there are singers then there is the voice of a country. Her song gave us hope. We gave her love. When she was going to the cematay in. Her home. There were crowds applauding in every town and the last town a flight of RAF planes. Flew again. She died at 103. And broke the heart of us all..
Greetings from The Netherlands everyone. Such a beautiful voice . My Mam and Dad went through WWII, they were both soldiers. My Mam being Irish and my Father English, you can imagine how our house was! Luckly we lived in Ireland and the Irish voices song full out thia wonderful song, a song I think that touches the heart of many nations.

I have two sons too! I love to hear this lovely lady sing! I had never heard of her until a year and a half after she passed away. England should be very proud of Dame Vera Lynn! I am an American, and I can't get enough of Vera Lynn!

A true true artist, someone that devoted her life to "her boys" and gave the British hope in the dark days of 1940 when we stood alone.

@@SrDGamer23 let's face it, she was just an angel !
I was born in 52 and these songs were still on the radio and my mum used to sing them all the time so this brings back my childhood
Unforgettable and marvelous
Have to give it to the Dutch for having such appreciation for Vera Lynn. Such diction ..such a voice.

Because it is not over. It just went on, gathering knowledge and technology. Just saying 😒 (but WE are stronger!!)
When she leaves this world I think this should be played on every Network and honor her that way as a Queen deserves.

A beautiful voice and fantastic singer. She didn't need all the vocal acrobatics so many singers toss in today.
Too right, especially at the age she was in this performance, incredible when you think about it.
I agree 100%. Most singers resort to vocal acrobatics because they hold a note.
Dame Vera, the zenith of magnificence & voluptuous splendour & ravishing elan.
Magnificent. Thank you very much for sharing.
I wish I could express how much I appreciate this
Magnificent beautiful stunning, what’s lady🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️
Ohh.. I'm crying 😭 so beautiful! Her voice is!! 😭😭the song that wins the war indeed.
