It's an imbalanced equation when the domestic help starts blackmailing you for money because she knows you're dependent on her. If I do the same at my office, I'd be replaced sooner or later. But little did I know that with the house comes the greater responsibility of knowing the needs and choices of men of the family and THE MAIDS!!!.. ghar ko and ghar walo ko toh sambhaal liya but maids were too much. we have part time maids for different jobs and sabke alag hi issues hai and unke aapas ki cold war ke beech mai fass jaati thi. But in the end I was able to create my image of being a strict chhoti malkin and I am proud of that :p hehe. They are all scared of me now that whenever I am there, they HAVE TO clean properly, they HAVE TO cook the right way 'cause I am sweetly strict :P Mum used to say, "itna mtt daant, bhaag jayegi toh aur koi milegi nahi". I ued to say ki kaam thek se nahi karti koi bhi, kyu rakhi hai..koi aur dhoond lo. Mum ye hi kehti thi, "bada mushkil hai achhi maid dhoondna. 2yr before we had a maid. She was working 2 shifts 8am-1pm and 6pm-9pm. Once we all had a suddent planning to go by locking house. We tried to inform her about her offday but couldn't. She came and waited 4-5 hours outside thinking we may came at any time. We returned and knew about her waiting. When she came at 6pm we were really very grateful to her. Now she is not working as her son is settled with a job.

Maids are never satisfied with what you give them. Most of them are endlessly greedy & lazy with regard to their work.
I have gone through a similar situation when I told the maid that rates for maids are fixed but she gave me such an explanation I got stumped!!
