Honestly I’m so tired of all these “ethical” fashion CZcamsrs saying it’s ok for them to buy something for just a video or it’s ok to buy a lot of clothing because it’s part of their job. It’s just hypocritical, you can’t influence people to buy less by always showing them new stuff to buy. So thank you for addressing that
If you want to still make going out styling videos maybe you can just show inspiration boards instead of buying the clothes yourself. But I also liked your idea of trying to work with what you already have. Most people also aren’t going out that often so I think showing people how they can dress for a special event without having to buy new clothes would be super helpful.
^^^^ yes. It's totally possible for CZcamsrs to make style videos with varied outfits without purchasing for every video. I'm thinking of someone like Beepworld who has a fairly small wardrobe and yet never seems to outfit repeat.
But also, people seem to forget that if you have friends and family similar sizes to you, you can swap clothing and your closet is significantly bigger without purchasing.

it would honestly be more helpful if you just styled what you already own because my closet and my friend's closets don't just have new years eve outfits, a bunch of going out clothes, and definitely not Coachella outfits so it would be cool to see how you make it work with the everyday pieces that you have :) hopefully that takes some pressure off feeling like you need to purchase certain pieces for videos!

Okay you def in part influenced me to get a pink real leather jacket secondhand and it’s prob my single fav piece in my whole wardrobe lol. I never go out either but will absolutely wear it to get a coffee, go to the bakery run errands etc. i get some looks but that’s a good thing💅🏻
I think utilizing a clothing rental service could help make the videos you want and help people make informed purchases, without buying pieces you won't wear much
At 64 I look at clothes so differently these days. Whatever I have in my closet I am experimenting with in creative ways and having so much more fun than I ever have. I find it to be a real creative experience mixing pieces which normally wouldnt be thought to "go together"...Its a way to get use out of things and be eclectic.

Every woman on CZcams buys things for videos. Some, like Mia Maples, buy really expensive or far out items, give them away and claim on taxes. Oh, I love that pink leather jacket. You really should wear it. My granddaughter still wears a black leather jacket of mine, which I bought used and wore a lot myself. I can deny her nothing.
Maybe you could still buy pieces just for styling AND reselling seasonally...? I do love to see your unique take on putting pieces together even if you don't have a reason to wear them right now. Either way, love your content.

First off, I love hearing your thought process so for me personally, don’t feel like you have to self edit that just for the sake of brevity. Secondly, if there is a piece you are still intrigued by, still think might have possibility, definitely hang onto it for a bit. As a Mom, your life ebbs and flows constantly in respect to how you dress. You’ll go through periods where you find you have, comparatively, all this new time to have more fun with what you wear even just around the house and you won’t immediately get little human gunk all over it lol. Then, as is always the case with our dearest munchkins, everything changes and you find getting out of sweats or leggings or whatever your go to utilitarian/comfort wear is is just impossible or not worth the grief. There are pieces in my wardrobe that only get more regular wear every few years or so but I know they are great pieces so I hold onto them even though they seem to just be taking up valuable real estate the rest of the time. Also, honestly, just seeing those pieces (and it’s not a lot. My wardrobe is pretty streamlined. I’m not talking being a hoarder here lol) in my closet keep that spark alive and can inspire me to put in a bit more effort if I’ve inadvertently just slipped back into wearing the same thing day after day because it feels safe or easy. I love that you wear things that are sentimental even if they aren’t precisely your style. Our clothes are more than just materials that cover our bodies. And I think when we love what we wear even if it’s a bit aesthetically “off” it adds that sumpin sumpin that comes through as so personal and gives us that extra oomph of confidence and happiness that is so attractive and interesting. It’s like the umami of style 😊

thank you for being so honest. i love some trends but i know myself and know i would never wear them. i did purchase a few things i regretted last year. this year i was a bit more mindful, and it was mostly lounge wear 😅

I feel like I had a few bad purchases this year, all shoes :( I got a pair of dr martens jadon second hand but I couldn’t walk in them so I resold them on Vinted. Also a pair of white sneakers and a pair of white sambas, both bought new and then sold on Vinted. One of my goals for 2024 is to be much more mindful of what I buy!

I like to wear ponchos with turtlenecks or having the collar of a button down or colored flannel because i live in really cold weather but im always warm lol ponchos are warm and cool at the same time! Good luck! Cant wait to see :)

I'm a subscriber and watch almost all your videos but I would like to express a small criticism: you mostly do fashion videos but you don't use the right fashion terms. You say triangle shape when it's a-line. You keep saying poncho when it's clearly a cape. Maybe it's not a big deal but as a former fashion journalist this bothers me!
By the way the ideal way to style a cape is with sth skinny underneath eg turtleneck and leggings or slim jeans and under the knee boots or ballet flats. I hope this helps!
