HALA BIRA ILOILO, VIVA SR.Sto Nino.
👏 The best performance Pang Golden buzzer👏👏👏... #PROUD ILONGGA! FROM THE CITY OF LOVE!
,,the best talaga ang dinagyang,,every year ako punta ng iloilo kada dinagyang,,best tourism talaga,,wlang tatalo,,kaya sa mga mayabang dyan, evaporate!!
Dinagyang began after Rev. Fr. Ambrosio Galindez, the first Filipino Rector of the Agustinian Community and Parish Priest of the San Jose Parish introduced the devotion to Santo Niño in November 1967 after observing the Ati-Atihan Festival in the province of Aklan. On 1968, a replica of the original image of the Santo Niño de Cebu was brought to Iloilo by Fr. Sulpicio Enderez of Cebu as a gift to the Parish of San Jose. The faithful, led by members of Confradia del Santo Niño de Cebu, Iloilo Chapter, worked to give the image a fitting reception starting at the Iloilo Airport and parading down the streets of Iloilo.[1] In the beginning, the observance of the feast was confined to the parish. The Confradia patterned the celebration on the Ati-atihan of Ibajay, Aklan, where natives dance in the streets, their bodies covered with soot and ashes, to simulate the Atis dancing to celebrate the sale of Panay. It was these tribal groups who were the prototype of the present festival. A participant of Dinagyang Festival In 1977, the Marcos government ordered the various regions of the Philippines to come up with festivals or celebrations that could boost tourism and development. The City of Iloilo readily identified the Iloilo Ati-atihan as its project. At the same time the local parish could no longer handle the growing challenges of the festival. Dinagyang was voted as the best Tourism Event for 2006, 2007 and 2008 by the Association of Tourism Officers in the Philippines. It is the first festival in the world to get the support of the United Nations for the promotion of the Millennium Development Goals, and cited by the Asian Development Bank as Best Practice on government, private sector & NGO cooperatives.
Im a fan of any streetdancing festival local or abroad, so i appreciate every single team that joins a competition in whatever festival, the colors and dances are great to see, but is more exciting to know what happens behind it... so lets stop fretting over those dramatic stuff and just enjoy... anyhoo, every team has got its own flaws even the champions, ryt?
Ati-Atihan Ati-Atihan Festival Participant.jpg An Ati-Atihan participant Observed by Aklan Type Religious / Cultural Date Third Sunday of January The Ati-Atihan Festival is a feast held annually in January in honor of the Santo Niño (Infant Jesus), concluding on the third Sunday, in the island and town of Kalibo, Aklan in the Philippines. The name Ati-Atihan means "to be like Atis" or "make believe Ati's". Aetas, known colloquially as Ati, were the primary settlers of the islands according to history books. They too are the earliest settlers of Panay Island where the province of Aklan is located.[1] The festival consists of tribal dance, music, accompanied by indigenous costumes and weapons, and parade along the street. Christians and non-Christians observe this day with religious processions. It has inspired many other Philippine Festivals including the Sinulog Festival of Cebu and Dinagyang of Iloilo City, both adaptations of the Kalibo's Ati-Atihan Festival, and legally holds the title "The Mother of All Philippine Festivals" in spite of the other two festivals' claims of the same title. A 1200 A.D. event explains the origins of the festival. A group of 10 Malay chieftains called Datus, fleeing from the island of Borneo settled in the Philippines, and were granted settlement by the Ati people, the tribes of Panay Island. Datu Puti, Makatunaw's chief minister made a trade with the natives and bought the plains for a golden salakot, brass basins and bales of cloth. They gave a very long necklace to the wife of the Ati chieftain. Feasting and festivities followed soon after.[2] Ati-Atihan 2007.jpg Some time later, the Ati people were struggling with famine as the result of a bad harvest. They were forced to descend from their mountain village into the settlement below, to seek the generosity of the people who now lived there. The Datus obliged and gave them food. In return, the Ati danced and sang for them, grateful for the gifts they had been given.[3] The misoln was originally a pagan festival from this tribe practicing Animism, and their worshiping their anito god. Spanish missionaries gradually added a Christian meaning. Today, the Ati-Atihan is celebrated as a religious festival.
@dallasmavzzz032 four of the best festivals in REGION 6 join DINAGYANG KASADYAHAN 2012. namely MASSKARA OF BACOLOD, BINIRAYAN FESTIVAL OF ANTIQUE, HALARAN OF CAPIZ, and the MOTHER OF ALL FESTIVAL "ATI-ATIHAN FESTIVAL".
Why don't we invite our friends and relatives from Bacolod to experience Dinagyang first hand, for sure they will have lots of fun. Unfornately, for me I will miss 2012 Dinagyang. Currently out of the country, cant go home to iloilo. So many yearend reports to do during January. Last vacation, able to see some friends in Bacolod, stayed at L'Fisher. They have the best Caesar salad, organic dressing prepared in front of me. Like the night life too, funny my relatives there prefer Smallville.
wait, you have to know that Sinulog has two categories..The first is the Sinulog-based category and the other is the Free Interpretation category...Symepre ang mananalo sa Free Interpretation ay tga ibang lugar kc open competition yon. Ang Sinulog-based naman ay pinapanalunan ng mga tga Cebu.....
@jenryl2914 we're never afraid that our tourists will transfer to ilo-ilo because Cebu has a trademark already of being one of the tourist capitals in the Philippines and the only ASEAN CITY OF CULTURE.
Napakalakas Naman nito.. grabe! If not mistaken iloilo holds two highest placements that year. Dinagyang as champion & pantat festival as 1st runner up
Dinagyang festival isway better than Maskara Festival and Sinulog Festival but i cant underdstand why Maskara and Sinulog is gainedmore popularity than dimagyang....
lets start from the last quest...it's because sinulog is a joint culture festival having contingent from around the country, and dinagyang looks exotic, cguro alam mo naman ang kaibahan ng exotic and elegant...as i had observed ,paano nman naging ksp ang cnulog while full of government officials all over the country including presidents and senates..and celebrities local and abroad...
Let.s not forget the true essence of these festivities... to honor the child Jesus. This is not a contest between Sinulog and Dinagyang.or who is better and who is not.
@jenryl2914 Boring nga tignan yung filipiniana dresses ng sinulog-based contingents namin pero we make sure that the solemnity and the religious aspect of the festival is still there, dinagyang nyo ba solemn? may religious aspect? AFAIK, your government is trying to convince your tribes to keep the solemnity and religious aspect of the dinagyang festival because they have not seen that for the past years.
oi, the Dinagyang contingents only started to get the 1st spot in the Aliwan when the Cebu-based and the Leyte-based contingents ceased to send representatives...This Aliwan 2012, two Leyte-based festivals will be sent to Aliwan and you can expect great performances...
@kitz060894 FYI, dinagyang sinulog and pintados are the big 3 of the visayas.. ang kinaibahan lg.. ang dinagyang na rcognized as the ONLY festival in the phil recognized as the FESTIVAL WITH BEST FOLK CHOREOGRAPHY by the NCCA... ntional level kmi hindi lg visayas.. eto pa.. we are the only festival recognized by UNITED NATIONS to promote the UN-MDG... hahaha saan kpa??? hanggang entertainment lg kayo. pang-aliw kung baga.. kami QUALITY!!!!
mm i think this one tells about the early panay aetas (ati) belief in babaylans and surwanos (pagan faith healers, herbal doctors) to heal their sickness, using herbal and traditional methods.. and then later on as they were evangelized by Catholicism pledged their faith and ways of healing to the sto nino..
@mookhamo we don't claim the victory of the buyogan festival in the aliwan but we are just proud that the choreographer of the said festival is a Cebuano. ikaw cguro ang HUNGHANG. dili kabalo mobasa.
