  • A chap called Jason asked if I would like to have a rake of 9 Hornby EWS Hopper Wagons as a donation! Couldn't say no to that very generous offer. However, the offer was a lot more generous than I thought.....
    Big thanks to Jason.

What a generous chap is Jason, not only does he donate you some hopper wagons but we get the benefit of a video on how to take a 66 apart and fix it! All with your excellent commentary and repair skills Bill. Thank you very much for your continuing instruction.

You shouldn’t feel guilty, Bill. Your videos are a great service to educating people on locomotive repair and giving them the confidence to do it. Not to mention I’m sure you have inspired a lot of people to take a look at older locos like Limas that they wouldn’t normally have given a second thought and bring them into good running condition. You deserve to be rewarded!

an idea for when you find holes in the grill, use the fabric from an old speaker to go under the hole so it hides the wires but gives the illusion of grill.

Miss seeing my favourite railway workers watching the locos coming and going in and out of the shed😉. I do enjoy your Videos.

When I start doing the landscape detail the shed area will be done first. So you shouldn't have too long to wait before the workies are back.

Yet another gr8 fixit donation video there Bill..Amazing how memories are made when i heard heard hoppers going over the liftout section in your layout reminds me of coming back from our weekend lake house 2 hours away to our Sydney house in Rozelle and going over the Iron
Cove Bridge at birkenhead point and sounded like badump badump badump popom badump badump badonmp popom badump badump popom popom popom and it use to wake me up and i would remember how lucky i was going to my safe home and to my trainset that layed all over my floor in my bedroom. Thanks for the memories Bill.

Nice gift. That low angle as the hoppers cross the viaduct is particularly good. Need to leave a camera sized gap in the landscaping there I think! Cheers

The late 90s and early 2000s we used to go to Dawlish Warren for a holiday and you would see 47s and 66s running there and what are the 47's used to be Lady Diana Spencer and sadly when she died they painted the loco black and remove the name plate what trigger that memory was seeing that 66

    Hi Bill.
Great donation, you did well there my friend. And good to see you run her at the correct prototypical speed.
I always use Plastikard for filling gaps as it is very flexible and comes in many different thicknesses.
I like the way you've painted the walls a sky blue as a backdrop. Is that a DCC ready radiator I spy on one of them?
    Paul. 👍

The day/night switch *should* change the side of the high intensity headlight if it mimics the prototype. Day time should have the high intensity light on the right, marker light on the left and vice versa for night so as not to blind the oncoming driver.

Errrm the light above the cab does not seem (on video at least) to be working! It would be powered from the wire(s) that you repaired! Edited Oh as usual I made a comment before watching to the end,... The top lights age a P in the elbow with the way that they are wired to the PCB,... Hopefuly you'll get new ones sorted from Bachmann.. Also as you found out, allways best to put the drive shaft into the bogie first, ... Once again a wonderful donation from Jason!

Try using decent quality tips. I use a Hakko one. The ones that come with soldering iron kits are awful and oxidise after a couple uses. My iron is set to 250°
