Moved here over 30 years ago when it was still pretty much undiscovered…….not like Orange County….coastal but way more laid back…..has come a long way in 30 years but love it here

Born in Camp Pendleton, 1949, loved growing up in Oceanside! Jobs took us to New Orleans back in the late 80's.You don't realize what you got til its gone...

Looks very different than when I was there (Camp Pendelton) in the 80's
Decent video but it missed the cultural activities. Oceanside Museum of Art (704 Pier View Way) is a recognized regional arts leader and the anchor of one of fourteen state-designated state-wide cultural districts. Brooks Theater (217 N Coast Hwy) houses the Oceanside Theatre Company which puts on live theater and music events. The California Surf Museum (312 Pier View Way) is a fun museum of surfing and surfers. For architecture nerds Oceanside has several Irving Gill buildings including the art museum, the fire station next door, the old Blade Tribune building (401 Seagaze Ave) and the Crown Heights Community Center (1210 Division St).
This was kind of fun to watch, i lived in vista about 5 years ago, I actually was born and raised in burbank ca, a few hours away, until i turned 21 and moved out to vista, but i moved to utah. I met my now husband frequenting his place in oceanside, we had our first date on a lifegaurd tower at the beach. By the pier, so many memories at the rubies at the pier!

Now it all makes sense how my old colleague got to be in the movie, "Bring it On" ;) I'm originally from Massachusetts but I've been out here in San Diego for 9 years. You're quite fortunate to have grown up out here - it's a magical place!

There’s a lot of homeless people who will fight you and when I say a lot I mean there’s one on almost every street.
There’s a lot of people on drugs so be careful

@@DLKHERM3686 also i didn’t watch the whole video so idk if they said this already there is something called art block, on certain days I think people sell their art, make music, and Studio Ace lets anyone do art projects! Four days ago at the art block I colored a sea shell there

I LIVE IN OCEANSIDE. YES, YOU CAN TAKE A FREE SHUTTLE FROM THE AIRPORT TO OLD TOWN SAN DIEGO AND FROM THERE HOP ON THE COASTER TRAIN GOING NORTH. IT IS ABOUT AN HOUR RIDE TO OCEANSIDE AND THE TRANSIT CENTER, AS WAS EXPLAINED IN THE VIDEO, IS IN DOWNTOWN. ENJOY!

I think it is more than a military town. A lot of San Diego in general is military. And each town has crime in it-some more than others, but this wasn't the focus of this video. I wanted to highlight all the fun things to do in this city :) Maybe I will do another video on towns with crime rates

I lived in Oceanside from the age of 3 to 35, I moved to WA state in 2021…these videos showing Oceanside as some amazing place are just fluff. As someone who grew up there and watched it change, I can honestly say that anyone who watches this video and thinks Oceanside is some magical paradise is going to be majorly let down. What used to be a sleepy beach town next to a Marine Corps base. Now it is a tourist trap filled with homeless drug addicts. It’s not a safe place to live, or visit. Of course, it’s southern CA, so everything is going to be overpriced, and Oceanside is no exception. Roads are heavily congested, restaurants have long lines or wait times, and finding a decent hotel that doesn’t cost a fortune is difficult. Every city on this planet has its pros and cons, and as an Oceanside native, I needed to share that it’s not all palm trees and gorgeous views…it’s a mess, to put it bluntly.
I left northern California after 40 years there, and I think it's fair to say that the whole state is a mess now. Too many greedy, self-centered people, and too little thought given to making the place better rather than worse.
