They should have given us a transparent Harry Potter figure since he’s invisible that whole scene. It would have broken up the typical Harry Potter figure we always get.
That would be epic.
Rather have that than a golden figure. More usable in recreating scenes.

This and the Polyjuice Potion Mistake are my favourites from this wave! I get wanting this set to be bigger but there's so many expensive HP sets and it acts as a barrier for collecting them all when it becomes sooo expensive so I'm happy with this set being the size that it is
exactly - the more we want in a set the more expensive it will be.
Agreed, that set and the first flight set will be the only sets I get from this wave.
Maybe I was expecting too much, but I wish they included more iconic sweets, like the chocolate frog boxes and Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans.
Edit: Even the little box seems like a missed opportunity to have had a blue and gold chocolate frog box with chocolate frog inside.
I was just thinking that! They could have a purple box piece with a print of the chocolate frog container on the top. And a brown frog piece inside. As for the Birtie Botts, the 2022 Hospital Wing set will have that piece thankfully! Im just going to put mine in this set.
I think we can assume Harry sneaks out through one of the secret pathways. that's why he's not in winter jackets cuz it will be too warm wearing thick cloths
The book made a point about Harry regretting that he didn't wear warmer clothes before sneaking out.
I need to get this. Last year I had the hogwarts express under my Christmas tree. And I'll probably add this for this year.

A couple of thoughts I had watching this:
1. Honeydukes is orange in reference to the original version found in the Shrieking Shack in the Prisoner of Azkaban wave of sets in 2004 I think it was?
2. Honeydukes is missing the trapdoor that was in the original one which is a missed opportunity.

Great review! I understand wanting more snow detail but it's more realistic to have it collecting at the bottom of the roof. Can't wait for the next one!
I wonder how well hologram stickers would work for the moving portraits.
They actually did that in 2001 with the Hogwarts set. It was a mini chocolate frog card with a hologram graphic on it. Would be cool to do that again but updated for moving portraits and the new chocolate frog cards.
I just got the one of the last great hall sets. I could barely find it anywhere else and I got the last one in stock

My idea is a Diagon Alley scale Hogsmeade with all the buildings that are named in the books: The Hog's Head, Madam Puddifoot's tea shop, Madam Malkin's, and there was a scene in a stationary store but I can't remember what it's called.
Minifigs would include Dumbledore's Army students. Aberforth, Rosmerta and McGonagall, Fudge to represent movies 8 &3. I wish I knew how to design it on a computer!
I am definitely getting this set just to make it into a moc because it is one of the best of this wave but I just think you could add more. Overall I think this is great set and this is a great vid.

Massive improvement to the original Honeydukes that was released with the Shreiking Shack
I think this set looks great. But I would definitely love an expansion pack to decorate and expand the Hogsmeade Village.

It does feel a little lacking. A third building would have been nice. Hopefully we’ll get a Shrieking Shack set or Hogsmeade Train station to fill out that whole area

I've only just gotten around to buying this set. When I first saw it, it was out of stock everywhere and now I found it online! Also I have the 2 advent calendars, and the 2023 one will go so well in this set (I mean it is basically Hogsmeade anyway). Super excited to get this!
It's a nice set. I think the tricky thing with Honeydukes is the most we get to see if it is in the PoA DVD extras, and even then we don't get to see the upstairs of it.
I think the set could've been improved if they build deeper, so you could have more of the ground floor, with the shelves of jars, the door to the basement, sugar skulls and jelly snakes etc.
The three broomsticks is really good though, I wonder if they included Dean as he's also in there in Half Blood Prince snogging Ginny.
The minifigures are decent. As I said the bts for PoA shows a tour of Honeydukes, so we see the Flumes quite well in that. Mr Flume looks accurate, not so sure about Mrs Flume.
Rosmerta looks fine though, think the face matches pretty well actually. Dean, Harry and McGonnagal also good.

The sticker of the portrait in the Three Broomsticks is called Hengist of Woodcrofft. In Harry Potter lore the pub was his house that they changed into a pub. 😁

I would definitely want to know what led the designers to make the decisions that they did, such as budgetary restraints and what not.
LEGO's boxes seem a bit more misleading this year. The set looks much bigger on the box. Still a lovely set, I'll probably buy it. It combines really well with Creator Christmas sets.

The Scarlet Patronus moc is what I was hoping we’d get out of a lego Honeydukes. Honestly wish HD had its own set or at least was part of a D2C Hogsmeade like Diagon Alley.

The roof pitch of both buildings are designed to shed snow not retain it.
The Madam Minifigure head and hair would be perfect for a river song (melody pond) Minifigure

Mr and Mrs Floome, the owners of Honeydukes sweet shop.
Ron does mention that the owners of Honeydukes do live above their shop. Plus Harry does hear Mrs Flume telling her husband to get more jelly slugs from the basement the first time he uses the passage way to Honeydukes

They should have made it so each set has half predetermined frog cards and half random that way if you do get skunked on one you at least have an option.
Yea the Chocolate Frog cards just confuse me. I don't get why they didn't just release specific characters in specific sets. That way if you collect all the sets you collect all the cards....I mean obviously they can include specific prints in sets like they have done before.

Actually, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that might be Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans. I got some in Universal Studios, and it came in very similar packaging (red and white stripes with a pyramid top).
Maybe? But it says Pop! on it as if its popcorn. They are also officially making a Bertie Botts print for that piece in the upcoming Hospital Wing set that has little beans on it.
I picked this up from aliexpress, couldn’t justify the price point for this set. Was good quality for a fraction of the price - particularly if it’s only to be displayed
It is extremely expensive in my country, but the big retailers listed it far cheaper in the beginning. So I preordered it. By now it’s already 20 Euros more expensive and hasn’t even reached LEGO‘s official price. For that I wouldn’t have bought it.

The snow on the roof makes sense as to where it would settle
The snow sticks to the bottom because it slips down the roof to the bottom
Pre-ordered this (and the others) on day one. Now thinking of ordering a second one to expand both buildings.
Same goes for the bathroom.
This is definitely the set i most look forward to. I hoped the stores are in the scale of Diagon Alley stores with a higher price point. I am still happy with this set. Perhaps I would do some modification to Honeyduke and make it as lively as Weasleys’ Whizard Wheezes. :)

The honeydukes exterior is completly movie accurate in the theme parks its a lot bigger

I think the Sirius pics are meant to be different because the pictures move in Harry Potter so I imagine it's maybe a play feature that you can turn it round and change it.

For my Christmas Village!
I was thinking of buying two to make Honey Dukes more robust. I wish the front of three broomsticks was more asymmetrical to be more accurate to the one at Universal.
Maybe would have been better as just the 3 broomsticks and they could make Hogsmeade expansions
So, this just verified that I’m definitely getting this set bc I’ve been wanting Hogsmeade forever- but, looks like I’ll be getting 2 of them (like I have the $ for it- thanks lego lol)- bc Honeydukes deserves to be MUCH bigger, and the Three Broomsticks is good, but if I’m going to try to make Honeydukes larger, that one is going to get some additional space added on as well.
Ugh. I guess my expectations were more towards Diagon Alley, so that’s my fault- but still.. I wish they made this $100 and added more room & physical detail rather than stickers. I mean, I love the set- I’m just disappointed it’s not bigger. And Harry NEEDS a scarf- I used to be all about making the sets the way they were intended, but Honeydukes & The Three Broomsticks are 2 of my favorite locations from the movies, thank you for the great videos!
I just watched the scene from this and it seems a shame about Harry's torso since he did have different cloths in the movie. And he should have the invisible cloak.
They could have done more, but this is still really good. I'm going to buy it but my most wanted is the castle.
Honestly, I think this set could’ve waited until Christmas to release. They should’ve done like Ninjago did and released the sets over the course of the year, with this one being at the tail end.

I will definitely modify Honeydukes to make it larger and maybe the 3 broomsticks as I do want extra sitting space with some of the prof and students ...will be watching to get ideas from others hopefully. Holly - I think you had mentioned about building a Honeydukes at one point - would like to see your modification of this one :)

This is the only good HP set this year. The rest are play sets for children. Yes, I know they are toys. I'm just saying they just are not in the same caliber as the 2018-2020 sets. People are saying they can be combined because they have aligning technic pins but they go together like stripes and polka dots. I'm planing to pass on the others and get three of these to combine into better proportion buildings.

By far out of all of the lego sets that I have built, this has the worst build ever, I just packed it away because it gets me too frustrated to even finish it, especially the three broomsticks,
The way the roofs are connected is abysmal, really I don’t ever see myself getting a set again, lego is getting lazier and lazier and I just don’t care anymore. Im going to start collecting things that are actually interesting and not this im done guys im done
